By Groundhopper

Tuesday Night saw the First Night Games of the Season after the Clocks Had Changed the Sunday Before. In the 6th Round of the Alan Smith Trophy Hetton Lyons Cricket Club entertained Kelloe wmc . Hetton started the better of the two teams with Lewis Dodds saw his header cleared off the line in the first minute and Gavin Cogden saw his shot saved by the Kelloe goalkeeper but it was kelloe who took the lead after 11 minutes with a strike from Barton 0-1. In the 23rd minute Warren Byrne saw his header hit the bar and The Lyons got the equalizer on the half hour mark when the keeper failed to keep hold of Lewis Dodd’s header and Byrne put the ball in to the net 1-1. Half time and a very evenly matched game. Second half and it took just 5 minutes for Warren Byrne to get his second goal of the game; Cogdon threaded the Ball through and Byrne Smashed it passed the goalkeeper 2-1. Chris Bell scored the goal of the game 3 minutes later from a very narrow angle of the edge of the 18 yard box and the keeper could only watch it go over him, brilliant goal, the goal was that good probably only Peter Schmeichel may have got a hand to it. Hetton were well on top and Byrne got his hat trick on 69 minutes when substitute Liam Beeston played a ball through the defenders, Byrne latched on to it rounded the goalkeeper and saw his shot beat the defenders on the goal line to hit the back of the net 4-1. Good cup tie and the Lyons deserved their victory.
