Marron Tames the Lyons

League Leaders Hetton Lyons Cricket Club Travelled to Pelton to Take on Second placed ROAB in a Premier League Fixture. This was an absolutely cracking result for Pelton as they beat the League Leaders 4-1 Pelton Took the Lead on 13 Minutes some good lead up play from Carl Ritchie. Luke Kerry added the final touch from 18 yards out with the right foot. Hetton Lyons equalised Straight after, Hetton controlled a 15 minute period, Then Pelton Took control 30 minutes of the first half then the entire 2nd Then on 67 Minutes Pelton went further ahead A spectacular free-kick by Craig Marron, guided home with the right foot from outside the area. 10 Minutes Later a flurry of activity in the area led to a Lyons Defensive error. Anthony Davison took advantage by scoring a clinical left footed goal from close range. 5 Minutes from the end Pelton Man Of the Match Craig Marron Converted from outside the area with a right footed finish, it was a tremendous individual goal which Craig Marron wont forget!  His second of the Game. This Gave Pelton a 4-1 Home win. Newton Aycliffe Wmc entertained Brandon Bay Horse; Aycliffe started the stronger with a couple of missed chances from Cambell & Mason. Brandon forced themselves into the game and missed a couple of decent headed chances. It appeared to suit Brandon that Aycliffe were pushing on and they could use their pace on the counter attack. Midway through the half Aycliffe forced three corners in a row, but after these Brandon swept up field and after confusion in the Aycliife defence Hawkins shot them into the lead. Two minutes  from halftime a break down the right wing from Brandon saw the ball pulled back for an excellent headed goal to give them a 2.0 lead.Aycliffe pushed forward in the second half intent on pulling the goals back, but leaving huge gaps at the back for the speedy Brandon attack to exploit. After 60minutes a break down the right by Aycliffe ended with a fierce cross shot and goal from Wood. Both teams were making chances and with 15 minutes to go Brandon were awarded a penalty which was despatched by Hawkins. Aycliffe continued to make chances but were unable to score and in the end Brandon ran out worthy winners 3.1.Kelloe Wmc and Visitors Langley Park Wmc shared the Points in a 3-3 Draw, Sedgefield st Edmunds won 3-1 at Ferryhill Wmc.
In the First Division Chester Osborne’s ambitions for promotion from division one were dented with a 1-1 draw at Washington Arms. The Arms thought they had taken the lead after twenty minutes when David Fittes crashed a terrific header against the bar which most present thought had bounced down across the line. However the referee did not concur and five minutes later it was the Osborne who took the lead, Nathan Burrell charging into the box sends keeper Ramsay the wrong way before slotting the ball home. In the second half Osborne keeper Wes Wood is the busier, in particular denying man of the match Darren Green twice with great blocks. With time running out the Arms pressed forward in numbers and grab a controversial equaliser on the eighty eighth minute mark, Craig Smith lobbing the ball back from the goal line to the edge of the box for Steve Crame to half volley home, the Osborne players protested furiously suggesting the ball had gone out of play but to no avail and the game ended all square. In the Big Houghton Derby Houghton Comrades beat neighbours Houghton Mill All Stars 5-1 although the game wasn't as one sided as the score line might suggest. After fifteen minutes Mill keeper Neil Golightly pulled off an astonishing double save to deny Tim Bowman from opening the scoring. On the half hour mark a Lee Wright strike and then a Bowman header put the home side two ahead before Mill's Jamie Parker reduced the deficit to 2-1 firing home from fifteen yards out after a Paul Taylor corner kick. The game remained at 2-1 until the seventy fifth minute when a Comrades left wing cross was met by Mill's Alistair Dodd’s who cruelly headed into his own net. Comrades finished the game much the stronger side and a Lee Andrews strike and Barry Turton penalty sealed the game at 5-1. Sedgefield Black Lion were 4-0 home winners over Langley Park Steelers; Sacriston Wmc beat Visitors Fatfield Biddick Inn 2-1.
In the Third Division Chilton Travelled to West Rainton and came up against a plucky team struggling for players who gave their best effort. But Chilton ran out winners by 4-0.Scorers were Neil Pickford, 2 Alan Pickford and Chris Pickford. Sedgefield Net park cruised to a 3-0 away victory over Durham Bede lodge they took a one nil first half lead thanks to Peter Sedgewick from the spot, Sedgefield got 2 more in the second half with goals from Stephen Turland and Martin broom giving Sedgefield the points in the sun.Sherburn Lambton Arms were 4-1 Home winners over Washington Lambton Village, Chester Plough Inn were 2-1 Home winners over Lumley Fc’
In the Third Division Houghton Chilton Lodge were this time at home having played Pelaw Grange Dogs Fc during the week. Both sides had made minor changes due to injuries as Craig Bain had cracked his ribs the week before. Once again both sides wanted to win the game and at half time it was 1 all with probably Houghton making more of the running although Pelaw had the better last 10 minutes of the half. In the second half Houghton edged in front with a good strike but Pelaw weren't finished. Andrew Tippins was brought down on three occasions in the box but was only awarded the penalty on the third occasion. David Donnelly stepped up to score to make the final result 2 all. New Durham Wmc were 8-0 winners at Bowburn Cooperage Thanks to Goals from, Mark Wild hitting 5 and Nicholas Marley 2 and Gavin Joyce 1.Bishop Middleham Cross Keys and visitors Chester Easy street shared the Points in a 1-1 Draw, The Bird Inn were 3-1 winners at Shadforth Plough Inn. Framwellgate Moor Wmc and visitors Witton Gilbert wmc shared the points in a 3-3 Draw.
In the Fourth Division Chester Cricket Club produced a convincing display to beat a spirited Burnmoor JFC 12-1.  Five goals from man of the match Darren Redfearn, a hat trick from Andrew Robinson and a goal apiece for Dan Irving, John Adamson, Iain Ward and Ryan Davidson completed the rout.Quarrington Hill wmc entertained Washington Colliery in a very close, well contested game with both teams having a fair share of possession and chances. With nothing between them it took until the 42 minute for the deadlock to be broken when a well delivered Chris Taylor corner was met with a powerful header from Chris Winter to make the half time score 1-0 to Quarrington  Hill.  The second half was the same as the first and Washington levelled the game on 60 minutes, again from a set piece headed home well at the far post.
Both teams fought to get the winner and it came for Quarrington  Hill, when from another set play, the ball found its way to the back post to be turned in from close range by Adam  Robinson for his first goal of the season. Quarrington Hill MOM Chris Winter.Feryhill Post Boy were 4-1 winners at Chester Leonards.Washington Honest Boy were 4-2 winners at Durham Garden House.Dubmire had a Fine Hard Fought 1-0 away win at Langley Park Rams Head. Kelloe Davy Lamp crashed to a 12-0 defeat at New Brancepeth Wmc.  Ferryhill Dynamo’s were 7-0 winners over visitors Framwellgate Moor Salutation.
