Jamie Clifford scored the first on 2 minutes to set the lads away when he tapped home a loose ball from a Ben Harris shot. Both Liam Bowes and Liam Burn nabbed a brace with the latter coming off the bench to replace Liam Bowes for the final 20 minutes.             In the Second Division Chester Plough Inn were on their travels, another relegation battle with Durham Bede Lodge with the Plough looking to complete a league double. The Plough were dealt a huge blow prior to the game when influential midfielder Jamie Seymour withdrew due to injury, however they welcomed back Aaron Sheriff into the squad.
Bede Lodge started the game but it was the Plough who were the brightest in the opening minutes.
Daniel Hill tested the home keeper with a fine early strike but the Bede keeper pulled off a fine save low to his left. Minutes later Chris Cuthbertson thought he had broke the deadlock when his cross cum shot agonisingly went past the post with the keeper left stranded.
The Plough did take the lead after 15 minutes with a stroke of fortune. A long kick from Stuart Lambert was headed back by the Bede Lodge defender towards his own goal but his team mate decided to help it on and headed back to his own keeper but the ball looped over his head for a kind own goal! Bede Lodge came back into the game and forced a number of corners but The Plough defence stood up strong and dealt with the Ariel threat. The Plough doubled their lead in the 25th minute with another bit of fortune in the build up play. Michael Curl played the ball down the left flank to Ben Lloyd but he miscontrolled the ball and it fell to Daniel Hill who turned his man superbly and fired low into the corner of the net. Bede Lodge once more came back into the game and were now enjoying a spell of pressure but were struggling to break down a resolute Plough defence. Shortly before half time the home side thought they had pulled a goal back when Marc McKenzie put in a great header on goal but Stuart Lambert pulled off a brilliant finger tip save to keep the lead intact. H/T 0-2 The Plough got the second period underway and immediately had the home side on the back foot and didn’t have long to wait before they increased the lead.
The ball was played in from the left hand side and Mark Atchison flicked the ball on to Hill who's shot was saved from the keeper from close range but it fell kindly at the feet of ANDREW McGuiness who finished from close range for the second week running. Bede Lodge weren’t finished and pulled a goal back five minutes later when Vaughan spun his defender in the area and fired a neat shot past Lambert in the away goal. The goal gave the home side a massive lift and now started to enjoy more of the ball in the middle of the pitch but still rarely threatened the away goal.
With Bede Lodge playing a high defensive line and looking to get back into the game The Plough went on to extend their lead. Chris Cuthbertson won the ball in midfield and played the ball up to Ben Lloyd who supplied a superb through ball for Mark Atchison to run on to and he made no mistake by rounding the keeper and rifling into the net. The Plough then extended their lead even further when the influential Ben Lloyd struck a contender for goal of the season. The ball was cleared, only as far as Lloyd who struck a brilliant volley from 35 yards out which flew high into the roof of the net. The Plough now had a platform to build on but moments later Bede Lodge were back in the game again when Marc McKenzie curled in a brilliant free kick from 25 yards out, giving Lambert no chance in goal. The goal actually gave the away side a lift as they took control of the rest of the game. The Plough didn’t have long to wait for a further goal and once again it was a cracker!
The ball was cleared but only as far as Chris Cuthbertson who spotted the keeper off his line and unleashed a great strike high into the roof of the net! The rout was complete in the dying minutes with a brilliant team goal. Midfield man Andrew McGuiness exploited the Bede's high defensive line and sent Chris Cuthbertson clear on the right hand side who raced clear but unselfishly pulled the ball back for Ben Lloyd to finish the move off from close range. A stop start game from beginning to end without any real flow this was mainly due to a hard and bumpy pitch. Too much whinging on by certain players rather than trying to play football spoilt the game. Goals from Turland 2, M.Broom 2 and Bland gave NET Park the 3 pts keeping them up with the promotion pack, leaving Rainton in the relegation dogfight.
In the Third Division Pelaw Grange Dogs FC entertained top of the league New Durham Wmc on a warm sunny day and Lintz Robinson was the referee. Pelaw were still missing striker Andy Tippins but Chris Hawkins was back after injury. Both teams played some attractive football and New DurhamWmc had supporters positioned around the pitch went the closest to scoring in the first half hitting the post and bar. Wayne Laws was also playing well in goal and all of Pelaws team were working hard together. In the second half both teams made substitutions but it wasn't until 5minutes to go that the deadlock was broken when Neil Worley beat there defender and put the ball into the back of the net. New Durham came back at Pelaw again but Pelaws Craig Bain marshaled his defense well to give them a deserved win.
