The away side pressed forward and broke into the penalty when striker Ian Brown picked up the ball and curled in a superb shot into the top corner giving Lambert no chance in the home goal. Great strike! The home side re started the game looking to quickly get back in the match. The next twenty minutes both sides got the ball down and played some lovely football but neither side could create any openings in front of goal. The Plough were having a lot of joy down the left flank with Mark Atchison bombing on and linking up well with the forwards. The home side had a great opportunity when Joel Baddams was put through clear on goal but the striker rushed his effort and put his shot wide of the mark. Daniel Hill supplied a superb through ball and Joel Baddams ran through from inside his own half and was sent clear on goal, the striker took his time and made no mistake finishing low into the corner of the net. The goal really gave the home side a massive lift and it didn’t take long for them to take the lead. Midfield dynamo Ben Lloyd was provider when he put Daniel Hill in on goal and the home striker beat the last defender and the keeper before slotting into an empty net. The game was turning into a great spectacle for the neutral with both sides playing some great touch football and in Great Spirit.Sherburn still weren’t to be outdone and came back into the game as they forced a number of corners but the home side were defending well with veteran Colin Harrison a rock in the centre. Mark Atchison had a great opportunity when Joel Baddams played him in but the attacking midfielder could only scuff his shot wide. Most of the home sides attacking play was now coming down the right hand side with Cuthbertson and Baddams linking up well. Chris Cuthbertson had a great chance to take the lead but unfortunately his effort went over the bar. Joel Baddams and Daniel Hill both had efforts on goal but none that troubled the Sherburn keeper. The away side did have an opportunity of their own when the ball was played deep into the area and nobody tracked the runner but the Sherburn midfielder could only head straight at Lambert in the home goal. With the game evenly poised it was the home side that went on to grab the winner and the gaffer’s goal of the season. Some great team play involving a number of players playing touch football before Joel Baddams laid the ball into the path of Chris Cuthbertson to curl the ball right into the stanch! Great goal the home side now wanted to finish the game off and Mark Atchison had a great chance moments later when he weaved into the area forcing the keeper to make a save from close range.
