Presidents Cup Final 2011
New Durham Wmc 3 v 1 Washington Victoria Inn
Washington Victoria Inn made a second appearance in this seasons finals taking on New Durham Wmc in the D&P Trophies Presidents Cup Final at Durham Cities New Ferens Park. New Durham dominated the first thirty minutes Nicholas Marley going close twice his second effort bringing out a brilliant save from Victoria’s keeper Scot Thompson. However against the run of play Mark Liddle out paces the New Durham defenders onto a long clearance to open the scoring on the thirty third minute mark. Five minutes later Tommy Renforth is on hand to head home a poor clearance to bring the scores level. Almost from the restart New Durham go in front, a great Nicholas Marley ends with a trip in the box Craig Jackson make no mistake from the spot to see Durham take a well deserved lead at the half way mark. The second half carried on from where the first had finished with New Durham dominating however few chances were being created by either side. New Durham substitute Andrew Ward volleyed home to make it 3-1 after eighty minutes to seal a good victory.
