16-04-2013: Waldridge Park FC v Whitehills
Score: 3 - 0

Waldridge entertained Whitehills at Riverside in the first of two midweek fixtures in this local derby match. The first half was totally dominated by the home side with Whitehills struggling to get out of their own half throughout. Waldridge were first to every first and second ball with the opposition defence and goalkeeper providing the only real resistance to the one sided match. As half time approached the Whitehills defence was eventually breached with some slick inter passing and Steven Dobbing slipping the ball past the out coming keeper for a well deserved lead. Whitehills stepped up a gear at the start of the second half introducing two fresh players in a more even contest. The Waldridge defence had to step up to the mark and did so with excellent work, cover and goalkeeper display. As the half wore on Waldridge hit Whitehill on several occasions on the break, a rare error by the Whitehills goalkeeper allowed Dobbing to get his second lobbing the ball over him into an unguarded net. The interplay and work rate by this time was too much for Whitehills and the final goal by Dobbing completing his hat trick was a team goal of real quality with several Waldridge players involved before a slick finish from 10 yards out. Special mention to Rooney and Ellis in centre midfield whose quality and work rate stood out. Chris Days up front ran the centre backs ragged creating time and space for others, wide men McGee and Lewis providing width, energy and quality. Defence organised by Jamie Ayton and Goalkeeper Weatherspoon and supported by Chambers, Parker and Burns. Late substitute Ludlow an able defensive display who was unfortunate not to get a start after recent excellent performances.

David Jeffers was through on goal but was blown for offside and then as he squared slight ly forward past the only defender the ball to Michael Mclean and Chris Hawkins they were ruled offside luckily for Dubmire. Proabably a bit against the run of play at this stage of the game Pelaw Grange Dogs FC went 1 nil up from a penalty when Ushaws keeper Jamie Robinson fouled Pelaws Chris Harvey in the box and a penalty was awarded that Neil Worley tucked into the left hand corner of the net. Chris Struggled for the rest of the half and was substituted shortly after the break. Pelaw dominated most of the 2nd half but couldn't hit the target shooting wide and high and when they were through on goal on two occasions the referee blew for offside when they were both a yard on side. this is football though. After each of these Ushaw broke away and scored one from close range. At the final whistle Ushaw were over the moon but Pelaw can only look back on the missed chances they had.

Houghton Chilton Lodge entertained Sedgefield Social in game which wasnt exactly for the purists. The home side dominated possession however struggled to create many clear cut chances and when they did struggled to find the target. Sedgefield to their credit were dangerous on the counter and nearly took the lead with a direct freekick drilled towards the bottom corner which the keeper tipped around the post. Sedgefields keeper also kept is side in the game first half with a fine save tipping the ball over the crossbar.
2nd half saw much of the same until Gavin Tait came off the Chilton Lodge bench around the hour mark, he was quickly into the action 5 mins later smashing the ball home from close range after a goal mouth scramble. 10 minutes later another effort from Gav Tait was deflected off his own team mate Andrew Steele to make it 2-0 to the Chilton Lodge. The game was made interesting with 10 mins to go as Sedgefield won a penalty as the referee adjudged a foul by the home keeper Defty. 02-04-2013: v new durham
Score: 0 - 0

The defences on both sides were excellent throughout and chances were very few and far between. No team really had any concerted pressure for long periods and every scrap of possession and territory had to be well earned.
Youldon on 20 minutes finally found himself in space with the ball but his shot went way over the bar from distance. Yates stretched the New Durham defence with his pace at times.
Both sides put some testing set pieces into the box with New Durham going close a couple of times.
The best chance during the first half came on 40 minutes when Yates set of on a blistering run into the New Durham penalty area and from 12 yards out from a tight angle his right footed shot was well saved by the New Durham keeper.
The game followed a similar pattern during the 2nd half but Sacriston were starting to enjoy more possession further up the pitch and drew a few fouls in the process which resulted in free kicks in promising areas. On 53 minutes Graeme Embleton’s free kick was well saved by the New Durham keeper.New Durham’s forwards did look dangerous on the counter attack and we did have a few nervous moments in and around our penalty area but New Durham struggled to create any good chances from open play against the excellent Sacriston defence. New Durham did have lots of free kicks and corners in and around our area but couldn’t create a clear opportunity. New Durham did have the ball in the net at one stage when Hall was clattered into his own net with the ball in his hands following a free kick but the referee correctly awarded Sacriston a free kick for the challenge.
Chris Welch then made a powerful run down the left hand side and crossed the ball into the near post area where the New Durham keeper got slightly lucky in gathering the ball at the 2nd attempt.
Sacriston made 3 changes during the 2nd half in an attempt to freshen up the forward areas but too little effect really. Thornton came on to replace Boyd in midfield and he did very well often involved in setting up the play and winning plenty of tackles. Then in injury time both sides had one last chance to win the game. Sacriston first when a free kick was long range was hung up towards the back post where O’Brien found some space and he tried to place his header on the stretch back across the goal but only found the hands of the New Durham keeper. Then New Durham went on the attack and a cross to the far post found a New Durham player in space 8 yards out from goal but his header went over the top of the cross bar under extreme pressure from the challenge of Gary Draper. This was the last meaningful action of the game and the final whistle blew shortly afterwards to finish the game at 0-0.

31-03-2013: Washington New Tavern vs Pity Me Lambton Hounds
Score: 1 - 2

An entertaining game that the away side should have won by a lot more going by the amount of chances they had. The first half was mainly controlled by Pity Me, with as a result of having an almost full strength side out could finally show what they were capable of. Some great passing moves creating a few guilt edge chances that should have been put away, until eventually a low strike from the edge of the box put the away side ahead. Everytime the home side got the ball they were looking for the ball over the top for the pace of their lone striker and wingers to run on to, but this was not working as they were either offside or poor balls through.
The second half started a lot different, the home side controlling the play but again still trying for the ball over the top to break Pity Me's defence down. This again was not working, and the away side began gettin a grip of the game again, passing through Tavern's defence and missing chance after chance to go further ahead. This cost Pity Me in the end, as finally with about 15 minutes to go the home side finally broke the offside trap and the striker rounded the keeper to equalise. By this point they had switched to 2 up front and they were chasing a 2nd goal to keep touch with teams at th top of the league, but this left gaps for the away side to expose. and from a corner there was a bit of a scramble and the ball was poked in at the far post to give Pity me a deserved lead and a win to finally take them off the bottom of the table.

Plains farm snatched the win with 5 minutes remaining when a long punt from the goalkeeper found their striker whose scuffed shot was stabbed home at the far post by the striker for his second of the game. Final score 2-1 to plains farm.
Premier League
Sedgefield had an excellent chance to take the lead in the 7th minute with only the goalkeeper to beat the strikers shot went wide of the goal. Lewis Teasdale came close for the Lyons in the 28th minute but his shot went agonising wide of the post. Teasdale  was the victim of being fouled in the 18yard box on the stroke of half time and Craig Price made no mistake sending the keeper the wrong way 1-0. Price doubled his goal tally in the 52nd minute with a superb chip over the keeper  to make it 2-0. The Lyons were well on top and creating plenty of chances and in the 73rd Minute Danny Craggs made it 3-0, good work from minter on the left hand side and again his chip left the goalkeeper stranded 3-0. Micky Pearson finished off the goalscoring off for the Lyons with minutes to go after a pass from Craggs

But houghton soon responded when a shot was saved by Morris but he could only parry into the path of Wallace who made no mistake from close range. Kelloe quickly replied when a corner was only headed into the air and Barton finished with a volley that can only be compared to zidane, leaving maskell totally helpless. Kelloe took further control when jury made great work down the left, his cross was met by Barton but maskell saved only parrying it to beeston who made no mistake, 3-1 kelloe at half time. Into the second half, kelloe had to defend against the wind under severe houghton pressure. Houghton scored on the break to reduce it to 3-2 and that increased the pressure on kelloe. Eventually kelloe made certain of the 3pts when Barton charged down maskells kick, and megran was left to roll into an empty net, final score 4-2 kelloe.
washington jfc  1 v 1 brandon
Even game, with Washington edging the first half and Brandon the second. Very few chances created throughout, Washington took the lead in the first half and Brandon scored a deserved equaliser late in the second half - a draw the fair outcome.

First Division
burnside  6 v 1 sacriston wmc
great all round peformance from burnside which could have scored alot more 2 stunning free kicks from ellison and a cool flick by stoker made it 3 0 then another from ellison and stoker and 1 from bailey. Burnisde WMC controlled the game from start to finish and a 6-1 win was more than deserved. Both Burnside forwards created alot of chances with with number 7 scoring a hat trick and Max scoring two. Sacriston did manage a goal to make it 5-1 and also missed a penalty but a 5 goal margin really could of been bigger. The goal of the game was from a free kick from 20 yards out and it sailed into the top corner, two goalkeepers wouldn't of stopped it
new durham 6  v 0 houghton mill
In division one New Durham were comfortable 6-0 winners at home to bottom club Houghton Mill All Stars. Some fine saves from Mill keeper Neil Golightly prevented the home teams goal tally from being more ! durham played well and scored 6,,,,, 4 for macmanus.. 1 each for brenkley and brown
Sacriston Cricket Club 1v  1 gilesgate queens head
A great game for football against 2 local sides. Sacriston were the better team for the whole of the game but just couldnt shoot on target but gilegate took the lead in the first half. Second half the same as the first with sacriston on top but kept plugging away with the last ten mins of the game they reaped their rewards with a beauty of a left foot strike from rob nixon to beat james winter in goal. Fair result 1-1
Sedgefield NETPark FC  2 v 1 Chilton WMC
Both teams were under strength with outfield players having to don the gloves for both sides. As usual a very competitive game between the two that now and then boiled over.
NETPark had the better chances in the first half and they took a deserved lead after 43mins with a powerful free kick from 25yards by Lee Butterworth....H/T 1-0
Again an even start to the 2nd half with limited goalscoring opportunities but Chilton did score after 60mins to even things up 1-1. Both teams had chances to score but it was NETPark who grabbed the winner with 10 minutes left through Alan Jones, a much needed 3pts for NETPark, F/T 2-1

Second Division
Dubmire  wmc fc  8  v 2  chester hilda park
another james gardiner hatrick set dubmire on theIr way to a comfortable win .Chapman, Thompson starredGame started well with having the lions share of possession, but you don't win games by possession alone and Dubmire broke quickly and with there long ball started the scoring.
The first half proved to be a disaster but thinks improved in the 2nd half and like the rest of the season can only get better :)
ushaw moor c c  8  v0  houghton chilton lodge
houghton chilton lodge travelled to ushaw moor and got humped 8-0. the end.Goals for Ushaw Moor CC ,Karl Turner 4 and one each for James Richardson,Steve Graham,Scott Nattrass and Micheal Abson.
Pelaw Dogs 5  V2  Sedgefield SC FC
The game was played on a greasey surface and both teams threatened in the first twenty minutes without scoring. The deadlock was then broken with a goal from the penalty spot for Pelaw Dogs, and they added a second before half time to lead 2.0. Pelaw added a third straight after the kick off with Sedgefield caught napping folowing their half time rest. Sedgefield dug deep and were soon rewarded with a well worked move to make it 3.1. Pelaw added a fourth and again Sedgefield fought back to make it 4.2, Pelaw added a fifth and Sedgefield substitute Danny Sigsworth nearly made the scoreline closer when he smashed a long range effort against the post, however, despite a valiant second half performance Pelaw ran out 5.2 winners. The was played on a very soft pitch which probably spoilt the game and kept the score down. Pelaw dominated from the beginning but erratic shooting and trying to wealk the ball in prevented them scoring until around the 30th minutes when Chris Harvey was brought fouled in the penalty box. Neil Worley stepped up to slot the ball home. This didn't seem to inspire them and they went into half time only 1 nil up.
Early in the second half Chris Hawkins had a one and one on the sedgefield keeper Lec Peat and slotted the ball past him to make it 2 nil but also suffered a clash with the keeper meaning they both needed treatment. Pelaw let their back door open for Sedgefield to pull one back but then David Jefffers made it 3-1 almost straight away. Then then went 4-1 up with a fine goal by Paul McNally but again were caught out at the back to make it 4-2. Josh Donnelly came on for Chris Hawkins and Ant Nicholson came on for Chris Hawkins and sedgefield used their subs as well. David Henderson made it 5-2 for Pelaw Grange Dogs Fc but really if they had taken all the chances it should of been a lot more. Pelaw will have to be more focused if they do not want to drop any points. Thye now have 2 weeks without a fixture before 2 away midweek games in the same week.
new brancepeth  16 v 0 bowburn
new brancepeth had a pretty strong side out and bowburn were pulling together to keep there season going, new brancepeth easily the winners with the goals coming from purvis 1, holliday 2, l wilkinson 1, harry flyn 1, a double hatrick for c dunham and 5 goals for mom a bussey, great performance but special mention to bowburn who have been strugglin but gave the all for the full 90.best of luck to them as gaz hutch has done well to keep them going

Third Division
Chester St Cuthberts 3 v 3  Bishop Middleham
Cuthberts didnt really perform on a very heavy pitch, but lead for most of game, before requiring a late equaliser from substitute Michael Ross. Mark Bailes and goalkeeper for the day Andrew Clarkson with the other goals. A entertaining game spoilt a bit by a heavy pitch , Chester took a early lead when a free kick on the edge of the box was brilliantly converted into the top corner , middleham however equalised when a corner from mom Marc hindson curled straight into the goal all be it wind assisted , the match was hardly contested in a midfield that was bogggy and did fizzle out for a while until a breakaway from Chester resulted in a penalty making it 2/1 at half time , second half saw more of the same until with 20 mins to go the match came into life with a equaliser from middleman this brought the game into life and middleman then took the lead with Chester equalizing just before the end but both teams will be happy with a point
West rainton  3 v 2 framwellgate moor

Fourth Division
Chester Relton Terrace  1 v 5   High Shincliffe Avenue
The game between Relton Terrace and High Shincliffe got under way with nothing particular of note occuring in the first 10 minutes except a half chance or two for either side. In the 10th minute, play unfortunately had to stop as Relton forward Andy Graham went down under a strong but fair challenge from Avenue centre back Josh Craig. Both sides rallyed round to ensure Andy's safety whilst we waited for the ambulance and we all wish him a speedy recovery. After the delay, the game got back under way and the Avenue were quick to apply a lot of pressure in the Relton half. On around 25 minutes High Shincliffe took the lead following a flick from skipper Andrew Sharp from a throw. The ball looped across the face of goal to be forced home by the chest of the returning Spaniard Diego Santamaria. High Shincliffe pressed on, winning a number of corners including one cleared off the line from a Paul Roughley inswinger. Chester had a few breaks of their own but were largely mopped up by Josh Craig and Ivan Lehane with 'keeper Luke Ridley claiming everything that found it's way into his box. The Avenue had a few more breaks and on around 34 minutes added a second goal. James Pine found himself in uncharted territory in the Relton box, staving off a nose-bleed from his advance forward, rounded a defender and hit his shot towards goal. The ball parried up to the left to be finished from 6 yards by Roughley who'd crept in from the left side. 2-0. Minutes later, right back Phil Blacklock sent a ball round the Relton backline from the Avenue half, Roughley burst through outpacing the defenders to hit a hard drive from just outside the are into the net with just a hint of the glove from the Relton 'keeper. Relton pulled one back before half-time. Some nice work from their lively number 8 down their right hand side saw some flowing football with the Relton centre-mids. A nice passage of play from them that was finished strongly by the forward to bring matters to 3-1. At half-time Avenue introduced Liam Close for his debut for Blacklock, switching the busy Adam Laing over to right back. Relton started the half better and pressed looking to get back into the game. The Avenue dealt with most that was thrown at them with the trio of Gary Browne, Pine and Sharp busy in midfield. High Shinclifffe introduced Peter Buckle for the ageing and knackered Roughley. They started to find their feet again and pressed looking for more, Craig Browne and Santamaria busy down the right flank. On around 70 minutes Santamaria found himself down the left in the Relton penalty area, skinned a couple of players on the bi-line before a neat driven pull back that fell to the feet of the impressive Gary Browne, touch, bang, the ball was rifled into the Relton net via the top right corner. Great strike, 4-1 the Avenue. A few minutes later saw a moment of madness when the handbags came out in what had been a reasonably civil affair. Punch thrown by a Relton player, retaliation from a Shincliffe one and a deserved red for each player in a situation handled superbly by referee Aaron Tones. Mattie Barber was introduced for the tiring Sharp and the game cracked on to be sealed by a moment of genius by a classy string of trickery in Relton box by Santamaria who took on 4 defenders before poking home for his second of the game and third in two appearances for the club. Great performance all round from the Avenue lads who deserved their win on the Day
pittngton fc 6 v 2 kelloe day lamp
this was an open game with plenty of chances for both sides, but pittingtons better quailty and a little luck was enough to secure a 6 - 2 win over kelloe davy lamp
hetton new inn 0 v 1 Chester whitehills
the game in general was a good contest with the best team winning in the end. however is was soured a little by a member of their team showing no sportsmanship at all, refusing to shake hands after the game and producing a number of totally unnecessary challenges. although the majority of the team were impeccable throughout
Pity Me Lambton Hounds 3 v  3 Quarrington Hill
A closely fought and well battled game between the bottom 2 teams in the league. There was a few niggly challenges, mainly as a result of neither team wanting to finish bottom of the league. Quarrington Hill took the lead early on as a result of a mistake from the home defence, a ball accross from the right and 2 defenders didn't make a call and went straight through to the centre forward who took a touch and fired unapposed in to the corner.Pity me battled and tried to cause problems, which they did when they won a penalty for a cynical challenge just inside the box which the home skipper duly dispatched in to the corner to make it 1-1. Both sides rallied and tried to make chances, but pity me began to take control of the game, quarrington hill's keeper making a couple of good saves. 1 in particular from a free kick by pity me's skipper.Second half continued in the same light, although the away side took the lead after a bit of a mix up when a clearance hit the referee and then a shot from outside the box took a slight deflection and went in off the post to make it 2-1 to quarrington hill. A couple of subs made the difference for the home side, with one of the subs cutting through the defence to put a shot away in to the top corner to equalise, and then a ball through put the winger through on goal with the hole half to run in to and make it 3-2 to pity me.But with 2 minutes to go the away side equalised when again after a cross from the right, the centre forward pukked away and put a free header away unaposed to make it 3-3. lively game where Q hill scored a last minute equaliser through Chris Winter to secure a point. Other goals from Carl Tingley & Luke Jury set up a 3-3 draw. Q hill MOM Alex Clewes
Washington Ox and Plough FC  2 v 0 Durham County Seniors FC
Durham Countys winless streak stretched to four games after they were beaten 2-0 away to Washington Ox and Plough. This scoreline however does not really reflect the match as the visitors created enough chances to win the the game their downfall was wayward finishing, good goalkeeping, and bad luck, but take noting away from the ox and plough who defended well and were dangerous on the counter attack, their first a fine strike from out side of the box which was deflected into the corner of the net, the second another deflection from close range wrong footing the goalkeeper.
Chester Le Street Waldridge Park  5 V 2  Washington New Tavern
Chester Le Street Waldridge park took an early lead after 5 minutes after a tidy move around the edge of the box. Tavern then replied soon after with good finish from Craig Neal after a gamble from a long clearance from goalkeeper Alan Newbrook. Tavern then went into the lead on 30 minutes after a penatly was awared for a foul on Gavin Neal on the edge of the box, Craig Neal neatly slotted away the spot kick. Waldridge equalised just before the break to level proceedings at half time.
Waldridge park came out the better side in the 2nd half and took the lead back soon after the re-start. As the Taverns heads began to drop the lead was doubled from a corner on the hour mark. Waldridge scored another goal late in the game to make it 5-2 to the home side. Waldridge Park FC took the points running out 5-2 winners against visitors Washington New Tavern. It was the home side who started on the front foot and were rewarded after 5 minutes when a free flowing passing move was tucked away by Richard Ellis coming in from midfield. New Tavern quickly equalised when a long kick from their keeper was misjudged by the home defence and the Tavern striker rounded the keeper to score. The visitors then took the lead when their striker was manhandled in the box and the penalty was easily put away. In the second half Waldridge stepped up a gear and some great team play along with passing moves contributed to some excellent goals . The equaliser came with a fine header by Lloyd McGee which was followed up by a hat trick of goals from striker Chris Days which earned him the man of the match award.
Lumley  1 v 2 Wash honest boy
Lumley led 1-0 through Laidler at half time. Honest boy equalised from a penalty before taking a 2-1 lead. Although Lumley pushed hard, they couldn't find equaliser. today the honest boy were away to lumley. both teams were fast off the mark with early chances for both teams, lumley took the lead with a mistake from d dunlop resulting in an own goal both teams were guilty of missing easy chances in the first half. the second half kicked off with the honest boy looking the better of the two sides, lough played a thirty yard pass to s dunlop who brought it down well and got the cross away which ended up hitting the defenders flailing arm resulting in a penalty. fishwick converted to level the game 1-1 not long after dixon made it 2-1 with a great finish from the edge of the box. Lumley piled the pressure on after the goal and could of levelled it. a great 3 points for the honest boy
