2013
D&P Trophies Knock Out Cup - 12th April 2013 – New Ferens Park,
Durham.
New
Brancepeth Wmc 1 v 5 Chester Saint Cuthberts.
New Brancepeth Wmc.
came into the game strong favourites to lift the first of this season’s Durham
Sunday League six cup finals.
However Chester Saint Cuthberts
take the initiative straight from the kick off with two good chances in the
first three minute, Josh Fryer’s effort
skimming the cross bar. After fifteen minutes Saint Cuthberts early pressure is
rewarded , a long free kick into the box finds Andrew Clarkson unmarked at the
far post to head home the opener. Ten minutes later a powerful Josh Fryer
header makes it two nil. New Brancepeth look like getting back into the game
following good work down the left flank but Chris Dunham finishing effort hits
the bar and rebounds to safety. From the restart the ball finds Andrew Clarkson
free in the box who finishes well to make three nil.
After the half time
break New Brancepeth enjoy their best spell of the game and pull a goal back
through John Kidd in the fifty fifth
minute, more chances follow but Brancepeth’s finishing lets them down. Saint
Cuthberts put the result beyond doubt with a brace of goals in the final ten
minutes from man of the match Josh Fryer.
