MATCH REPORT ALAN
SMITH MEMORIAL CUP FINAL
10/5/2013
KELLOE Wmc 3 v 1
PELTON RAOB.
The Castle Insurance
Alan Smith Memorial Trophy final is a
repeat of this years Ramside Hall Cup Winners cup final between Pelton RAOB and
Kelloe Wmc. Pelton looking to exact revenge for the narrow 1-0 defeat in that
game, start the game strongly. After only seven minutes Craig Mickle is on hand
to take advantage of confusion between Kelloe defenders Oates and Dury to open
the scoring. As the half progresses Kelloe begin to assert themselves and after
going close a couple of times pull themselves level on the fifteen minute mark
following good work down the right by Kieran Megran clinically finished off by
man of the match contender Craig Coates. Ten minutes later Kelloe take the lead,
Stuart Thompson sets up Gavin Barton whose miss-kick to the dismay of the
Pelton defenders finds it way into the back of the net. On the stroke of half
time the impressive Craig Coates grabs his second, slipping ball between keeper
and post from close to the goal line to
make the half time score 3-1. The second half produces no further goals mainly
thanks to the well organised defences. Kelloe’s man of the match John Jury
succession of ditch tackles thwarts Pelton three times, Pelton spurned a great
opportunity early in the half and a fine
Craig Mickle effort skimmed the bar meanwhile at the other end Craig Coates was
unlucky not to complete his hat-trick with a long range effort in the final
minute of the game
