By Ground hopper
In the Only Game in the Premiership Pelton Looking to leapfrog Hetton Lyons Cricket Club into top spot travelled to Newton Aycliffe Wmc. Pelton took the game to Aycliffe from the start but were unable to create a good opportunity.Aycliffe gradually fought themselves into the match which was becoming a hard fought contest. There was a rush of goals in the last fifteen minutes of the first half. Aycliffe opened with two in two minutes from Ian Bussomworth and Dave Mason, before Pelton hit back with two goals from outside the penalty area from Craig Marron and  Anthony Davidson. The second half continued in the same competitive way, and it was Pelton who got the winner, ten minutes from the end, after a free kick into the box. A great team goal, finished off by Carl Ritchie with a right footed conversion from close range, following a Luke Kerry pass.
In the First Division Steelers FC lost their second game in a week as Sacriston WMC took all the points in this local derby. The visitors came to Langley Park sitting in a relegation spot but they thoroughly deserved to leave as victors. Steelers had the best of the first half exchanges and entered the break 1-0 thanks to Jamie Clifford’s 20th of the season. Kerry Moralee spotted that our two forwards were man for man with the defence and launched a long ball that ex Sacriston WMC player- Liam Burn headed on for JC to run onto and chip the keeper. Early in the second half the visitors applied pressure to our defence and a resulting corner was headed home by John Chapman to level the scores. A penalty late on sealed the points and this may be enough to keep Sacriston WMC safe. It was great match for the healthy crowd and Kieron Moralee was awarded MOM from the club with my selection going to Gary Varty. Gilesgate Moor Hotels run of poor results in division one continued with a 5-1 defeat at Washington Arms, two Andrew Elliot goals and one a piece for John Wilson, Steve Crame and Carlo Barrass doing the damage, substitute John Garr grabbing a late consolation goal. It was Witton Gilbert who struck first going 1-0 up, playing quite effectively on the counter attack. Pelaw got their equaliser when a good ball into the box was headed down by Tippins for Worley to stroke home following a venture forward from left back. Pelaw then missed some very good chances and were disappointed not to be leading at half time. Early in the second half a mix up at the back for Pelaw saw a clearance fall to the edge of the box and the ball was immediately headed back to lob the keeper for the home side to go 2-1 up.  Pelaw got their second equaliser of the game when a cross from Donnelly caught everyone out and dropped in at the far post. Pelaw were searching for a winner and it came when a good cross into the far post broke for Tippins to calmly slot the ball into the top corner.
In the Fourth Division Chester Cricket Club entertained Washington Colliery in there final home game of the season, hoping to send the Cricketers faithful home happy in the final push for promotion. Manager Sam Marshall made 5 enforced changes, Steve Redshaw, Simon Masters, Andrew Robinson, Jon Sexton and Martin Guy returning to the side in the place of the missing Dan Irving, Chris Rayner, Chris Martin and the injured duo Ryan Pender and Lee Cuthbertson. The Cricketers  were on the front foot from the first kick of the game and didn’t take there foot off the gas for the whole of the first period, playing some glorious one touch football. The first goal arrived after ten minutes when after a good move down the right flank involving Davidson and Balfour, Martin Guy crossed for John Adamson to cleverly flick in with his head. The second arrived moments later when Ryan again made great progress down the right and his looping cross was heading into the net when Ab nipped in on the line to claim his second. Mid way through the half and it was three nil when a long punt upfield from keeper Jak Taylor bounced nicely for winger Jon Sexton to nod over the onrushing keeper and into an empty net. Martin Guy got the goal his performance deserved when he finished from just inside the box with his left foot and Michael Redshaw finished off the half with a deflected effort from on the left by-line. The 2nd half started as the first ended with the Home side thoroughly dominating and substitute Jon Haggerty grabbed his sides 6th when he finished well after being set up by Mick Red. Mick Red was then set up by Jon Sexton for the 7th and Hagg played a neat 1-2 with Martin Guy to complete the scoring and the match finished 8-0.

Pelton Make up Ground on Hetton
By Ground hopper.
In the Premier Division Pelton Roab looking to Catch League Leaders Hetton Lyons Cricket Club entertained Langley Park Wmc In a very scrappy Game Pelton won 3-2 thanks to Goals from on 25 Mins A well delivered cross from Craig Marron was converted by Carl Ritchie. A fine finish with the head from 18 yards out. 6 Mins Later, Some good work from Paul Freeman led to a goalmouth scramble. Luke Kerry took advantage by scoring a speculative right footed goal from close range, and then with 10 Mins left Pelton secured all 3 Points a tremendous free-kick by Craig Marron, guided home with the right foot from outside the area. Newton Aycliffe WMC entertained Chester Hilda Park; despite leading 2-0 Hilda Park shared the Points in a 2-2 Draw.
In the First Division Chester Osborne beat visitors Ushaw Moor Cricket Club 5-2
In the Second Division Chester Plough Inn were at home once more entertaining Waterhouses FC looking to overturn a previous league defeat in Esh Winning.
The Riversides lost Craig Johnson to injury but welcomed back midfield maestro James Seymour back into the side. The home side could also boast a very strong bench this evening. The Plough got the game underway and immediately had Waterhouses on the back foot when Mark Atchison burst down the left flank and into the box but could only drag his shot wide of the upright. This was to prove the key to the first half. The home side didn’t have long to wait to break the deadlock and it was that man Mark Atchison who controlled the ball on his chest and finished with a fine strike from close range, following a great cross from Chris Cuthbertson. The home side were very much on the rampage in the early stages and they doubled their lead with just over ten minutes on the clock. The ball was played out wide for Mark Atchison who beat two men before playing a quick one-two with Daniel Hill and then hitting a sweet shot high into the net with the outside of his foot.
The goal didn’t have the effect The Plough had hoped for as the Esh side scored with virtually their first attack. The ball was only half cleared to the edge of the area and the Waterhouses swivelled before hitting a fine half volley into the roof of the net.
The goal gave the away side a huge confidence boost as they now started to enjoy a spell of pressure as they forced a number of corners which the home defence coped with admirably. With the away side enjoying more of the pressure The Plough broke away to extend their lead further. Daniel Hill picked the ball up within his own half and supplied an inch perfect pass for Mark Atchison to go racing clear on goal and he made no mistake by finishing low into the corner of the net to complete a first half hat trick. The goal put a smile back on the players faces and the grin got wider a few minutes later when Joel Baddams supplied a corner from the left which Andrew McGuinness flicked on and Chris Dodd’s who helped the ball over the line for an own goal. H/T 1-4 The away side kicked off the second period and found themselves retreating deeper in their own half right from the off. The Riversiders didn’t have long to wait before they extended their lead and it was a superb goal. Some good work from Mark Atchison again down the left flank earned him some space to square for Daniel Hill who pulled off an exquisite bit of skill by flicking the ball over the keepers head from 15 yards out. The home side though they were putting the game to bed but Waterhouses had different ideas as they came back into the game again. Stuart Lambert was forced into a fine save low to his right to keep the scoreline intact but it didn’t take long for the away side to reduce the score line following a goalmouth scramble. The goal which the home side conceded sprung the sides forwards back into action as they went straight back up the field and scored again. Chris Cuthbertson played the ball up to Daniel Hill on the half way line who picked the ball up and raced towards the opposing penalty area before looking up and executing a brilliant chip from outside the area into the roof of the net. The away keeper was certainly the busier of the two as he pulled of a number of fine saves to keep the scoreline down. Less than five minutes a brilliant team move involving Joel Baddams and Hill had the away defence at sixes and sevens before Hill crossed for Andrew McGuinness but the Waterhouses keeper pulled off a great save again from close range. Waterhouses did reduce the deficit once more in the last minute when a free header from close range allowed the away midfielder to complete his hat trick. There was still time for another goal for the home side. Marc Howey took a quick throw in from just inside the opposing half which sailed straight over the last defenders head for Daniel Hill to go clear on goal and he made no mistake finishing low into the corner of the net to complete his hat trick. F/T 7-3. Coxhoe Wmc Beat Visitors Durham Bede Lodge 3-0, Sherburn Lambton Arms and Visitors Washington Victoria shared the Points in a 1-1 Draw.
In the Third Division Shadforth Plough Inn were 4-1 Winners at Framwellgate Moor Wmc.

Kelloe Make Third Final off the Season
By Ground hopper.
In the Delayed League Cup Semi-Final Hetton Lyons Cricket Club and Kelloe wmc were both level at 1-1 after 120 Mins Kelloe winning the Penalty Shoot Out. In the First Division the Osborne were 5-1 Winners over Birtley Board Inn.
Chilton entertained Waterhouses In the second Division and were 5-1 winners, Coxhoe Wmc were 5-1 winners at Pelton Fc, The Lambton Arms Lost 2-1 at West Rainton.
In the Third Division Bishop Middlehanm Cross Keys and Visitors Bowburn Cooperage shared the Points in a 3-3 Draw, Framwellgate Moor wmc won 1-0 at Ferryhill Saints, and New Durham Wmc were 6-0 Home winners over Pelaw Grange Dogs. Short of 3 regular starters Witton Gilbert WMC WERE down to the bare bones for the away game at Durham Bede Lodge.. Witton battled gamely against the team now showing as runners up in the division and there were some notable performances from Grant Boyd and Wes Haley but the player who stood head and shoulders above everyone on the night, Scott Bradley who never stopped running all night and was superb. Witton held firm for half an hour and weren’t troubled a great deal until a slight error by John Smith allowed a clear strike on goal and put us behind. After the interval Witton really had our backs to the wall for spells and went 2 down on the hour The 3rd I’m convinced should have been given offside and the penalty awarded for the 4th was completely baffling. Witton did get one back through David Callcutt and although the better team on the night won the score line didn’t reflect our effort.
In the 4th Division Washington Honest Boy were 5-1 winners at Kelloe Davy Lamp, Quarrington Hill Wmc lost 4-0 at Ferryhill Post Boy, The Dynamos were 9-1 home winners Over Durham Garden House. In the last of the midweek fixtures, Chester Cricket Club C entertained Langley Park Rams Head looking to avenge the 5-3 defeat of earlier in the season. The Cricketers made several enforced changes with players unavailable for a variety of reasons. In came Jak Taylor having served his punishment for a Sunday morning no show, Iain Ward, Ryan Pender, Chris Martin, Lee Cuthbertson and Ash Balfour, who was looking to impress after being dropped in the previous game. It was the home side who started the stronger with Balfour impressing down the right flank taking on the fullback with ease and at will. It was Balfour who won a corner, which when not cleared fell to Chrissy Martin in the box and he made no mistake from 8 yards with a scuffed shot which took several deflections on its way into the net. The lead was doubled shortly after when Dan Irving, revelling in a free role behind the striker, accepted a pass from Balfour on the inside right channel, slammed a first time strike into the top left hand corner from 30 yards. Peach. Ten minutes before halftime with virtually there first foray into the Cricketers half, the lead was cut in half when a move down the left resulted in the Langley midfielder finishing from just inside the box. The home side still pressed and Ryan Pender almost opened his account for the club but his deflected effort came back off an upright and away to safety. The home side came out for the 2nd half in the same vein, putting pressure on the opposition captain who had ran the show in the first meeting. Michael Redshaw and Ryan Pender impressing in the engine room to snuff out any threat. Redshaw jr, a threat from every set piece, had a header cleared off the line before Lee Cuthbertson put the match to bed when effort excellent work from John Adamson who turned and crossed for Cuth to cheekily back heel the ball into the net. Nice. With the away side not mustering an effort at goal in the 2nd half it was the Cricketers, who almost put the finishing touches to the game, but after a handball, sub Lee Cooke placed an awful penalty far too close to the keeper and he saved with the last touch of the game.

This Gave Pelton a 4-1 Home win. Newton Aycliffe Wmc entertained Brandon Bay Horse; Aycliffe started the stronger with a couple of missed chances from Cambell & Mason. Brandon forced themselves into the game and missed a couple of decent headed chances. It appeared to suit Brandon that Aycliffe were pushing on and they could use their pace on the counter attack. Midway through the half Aycliffe forced three corners in a row, but after these Brandon swept up field and after confusion in the Aycliife defence Hawkins shot them into the lead. Two minutes  from halftime a break down the right wing from Brandon saw the ball pulled back for an excellent headed goal to give them a 2.0 lead.Aycliffe pushed forward in the second half intent on pulling the goals back, but leaving huge gaps at the back for the speedy Brandon attack to exploit. The Arms thought they had taken the lead after twenty minutes when David Fittes crashed a terrific header against the bar which most present thought had bounced down across the line. However the referee did not concur and five minutes later it was the Osborne who took the lead, Nathan Burrell charging into the box sends keeper Ramsay the wrong way before slotting the ball home. In the second half Osborne keeper Wes Wood is the busier, in particular denying man of the match Darren Green twice with great blocks. With time running out the Arms pressed forward in numbers and grab a controversial equaliser on the eighty eighth minute mark, Craig Smith lobbing the ball back from the goal line to the edge of the box for Steve Crame to half volley home, the Osborne players protested furiously suggesting the ball had gone out of play but to no avail and the game ended all square. In the Big Houghton Derby Houghton Comrades beat neighbours Houghton Mill All Stars 5-1 although the game wasn't as one sided as the score line might suggest. After fifteen minutes Mill keeper Neil Golightly pulled off an astonishing double save to deny Tim Bowman from opening the scoring. On the half hour mark a Lee Wright strike and then a Bowman header put the home side two ahead before Mill's Jamie Parker reduced the deficit to 2-1 firing home from fifteen yards out after a Paul Taylor corner kick. The game remained at 2-1 until the seventy fifth minute when a Comrades left wing cross was met by Mill's Alistair Dodd’s who cruelly headed into his own net. Comrades finished the game much the stronger side and a Lee Andrews strike and Barry Turton penalty sealed the game at 5-1. In the second half Houghton edged in front with a good strike but Pelaw weren't finished. In the Second Division  Chester Plough Inn were back on home soil looking to continue their recent good form. Sherburn Village Lambton Arms were tonight’s opponents looking to complete the double over the Riversiders. Sherburn got the game under way and got off to the best possible start. The away side pressed forward and broke into the penalty when striker Ian Brown picked up the ball and curled in a superb shot into the top corner giving Lambert no chance in the home goal. Great strike! The home side re started the game looking to quickly get back in the match. The next twenty minutes both sides got the ball down and played some lovely football but neither side could create any openings in front of goal. The Plough were having a lot of joy down the left flank with Mark Atchison bombing on and linking up well with the forwards. The home side had a great opportunity when Joel Baddams was put through clear on goal but the striker rushed his effort and put his shot wide of the mark. The home side started to enjoy a little more of the possession and deservedly got an equaliser soon after. Daniel Hill supplied a superb through ball and Joel Baddams ran through from inside his own half and was sent clear on goal, the striker took his time and made no mistake finishing low into the corner of the net. The goal really gave the home side a massive lift and it didn’t take long for them to take the lead. Midfield dynamo Ben Lloyd was provider when he put Daniel Hill in on goal and the home striker beat the last defender and the keeper before slotting into an empty net. The game was turning into a great spectacle for the neutral with both sides playing some great touch football and in Great Spirit.Sherburn still weren’t to be outdone and came back into the game as they forced a number of corners but the home side were defending well with veteran Colin Harrison a rock in the centre. Lambert was forced into action for the first time when Ian Brown took a free kick from 25 yards out. The away striker curled the ball round the defensive wall but The Plough number one was equal to his effort. Shortly before half time Sherburn did get an equaliser. Possession was giving away on the right hand side and Ian Brown picked the ball up and beat a home defender and his cross into the area came back off the bar to the feet of Karl Hutchison who smashed the ball into the roof of the net H/T 2-2 The Riversiders got the second period underway and were looking to build on their first half performance. The home side started to take control in the centre of the park with Lloyd, McGuiness and Baddams all pulling the strings. Chris Cuthbertson started to come into the game and was pushing the Sherburn defender deep into his own half, linking up well with the busy Joel Baddams. Mark Atchison had a great opportunity when Joel Baddams played him in but the attacking midfielder could only scuff his shot wide. Most of the home sides attacking play was now coming down the right hand side with Cuthbertson and Baddams linking up well. Chris Cuthbertson had a great chance to take the lead but unfortunately his effort went over the bar. Joel Baddams and Daniel Hill both had efforts on goal but none that troubled the Sherburn keeper. The away side did have an opportunity of their own when the ball was played deep into the area and nobody tracked the runner but the Sherburn midfielder could only head straight at Lambert in the home goal. With the game evenly poised it was the home side that went on to grab the winner and the gaffer’s goal of the season. Some great team play involving a number of players playing touch football before Joel Baddams laid the ball into the path of Chris Cuthbertson to curl the ball right into the stanch! Great goal the home side now wanted to finish the game off and Mark Atchison had a great chance moments later when he weaved into the area forcing the keeper to make a save from close range. In the second half the Salutation started the brighter and took the lead, again with another free kick this time dispatched by Gareth’s brother Jonathan. The Salutation could have gone up 3-1 with a penalty mid way thought the second half, after Mark Hughes was bundled over in the box. Gareth Bowen scored the penalty but a re-take was ordered for encroachment. This time the keeper guessed right and made a good save low to his right. This gave the honest boy the lift they needed and they soon equalised with a long ball over the top taking a cruel bounce leaving the striker to slot home from 10 yards. The honest boy took all 3 points at the death with another headed goal from a corner. It was hard on the salutation in a game that could have gone either way.

Steelers Share Points with the Osborne
By Goundhopper
In the First Division Langley Park Steelers entertained Chester Osborne Wmc .This match was a typical top of the league encounter with both sides playing impressive, attacking football. In a game of four halves, Osborne were the strongest in the first 20 of each period with the Steelers taking up the reigns for the 25 minutes before the break and likewise the last 25 of the game. Both sides had several chances as this game was sheer end to end football but the Osborne's efforts were nullified by Steelers defence whereas the Steelers efforts were thwarted by the visiting keeper Steve Barnes . He saved spectacularly with his feet 3 times to deny the home side the lead. The best chance on the evening for Steelers to win the game came with 5 minutes left to go. Kieran Moralee drove through their midfield after winning the ball in his own half and he played a perfect ball into the channel for Liam Bowes. Liam crossed towards the back post and the ball took an awkward bounce in front of Ryan Grayson, coming off the lads leg and up into the air, just missing the top corner of goal by inches with the Osborne keeper beaten.
MOM for the visitors was their goal scorer Nathan Burrell and Kieron Moralee the Steelers captain received the accolade from the opposition. Jamie Clifford scored the equalising goal to secure the draw which was a fair result overall.

The Teams enter the Pitch
Large followings for both the Washington Arms and Coxhoe Wmc. assembled at New Ferons Park for the Durham & District Sunday League Knockout Cup to produce a great atmosphere to which both teams respond with an action packed entertaining game. The Arms create the early pressure and take the lead after eight minutes, a mesmerising run by Michael Reay ends with a powerful shot that Coxhoe keeper Tom Orton can’t  hold, Chris Morrison is first to react and hammers the ball home from close range. The Arms continue to push forward but are stunned on the fifteen minute mark with an out of the blue long range effort from Stephen Broom, a stunning strike into the far corner of keeper Ramsay’s net.  Ten minutes later a goal of real quality restores the Arms lead, David Fittes weaving his way into the box calmly chips the ball over a defenders shoulder before finishing off with a half volley. Coxhoe once  again respond positively and are soon back on level terms, a fierce Simon Ord effort from the edge of the box is parried onto the bar by Michael Ramsey but he is dismayed to see it rebound into the path of Michel Owen who powerfully heads it home.  The second half starts with immediate pressure from Coxhoe, man of the match Simon Ord capitalises on some sloppy Arms defending to score the goal of game. Although the Arms work hard in search of an equaliser Coxhoe grow in stature and take command of the game, the dangerous  Michael Owen going close twice whilst Stephen Broom is unlucky with a fine effort that whistles over the bar. The Arms  keep on battling in search of an equaliser, David Fittes drawing a great one handed save out of keeper Orton and a long range Gary Allen effort finds the side netting however Coxhoe are always in command and put the result beyond doubt on the eighty eighth minute with a fine individual goal from Stephen Broom

In the First Division Langley Park Steelers FC entertained Burnside Wmc, It a top of the league clash that the Steelers won in emphatic style. Jamie Clifford scored the first on 2 minutes to set the lads away when he tapped home a loose ball from a Ben Harris shot. Both Liam Bowes and Liam Burn nabbed a brace with the latter coming off the bench to replace Liam Bowes for the final 20 minutes. Ben Harris notched the other goal although he was unlucky not to have scored more on the day as he hit the woodwork 3 times during the course of the match, Burnside Wmc did reply from the penalty spot when the score was 5-0 but the Steelers finished the match as 6 - 1 winners. Chester Osborne Wmc were 4-1 winners at Sacriston Wmc, Houghton Comrades won 2-0 at Ushaw Moor Cricket Club. Sedgefield Black Lion Lost 4-1 at Home to the Biddick Inn.
In the Second Division Chester Plough Inn were on their travels, another relegation battle with Durham Bede Lodge with the Plough looking to complete a league double. The Plough were dealt a huge blow prior to the game when influential midfielder Jamie Seymour withdrew due to injury, however they welcomed back Aaron Sheriff into the squad.
Bede Lodge started the game but it was the Plough who were the brightest in the opening minutes.
Daniel Hill tested the home keeper with a fine early strike but the Bede keeper pulled off a fine save low to his left. Minutes later Chris Cuthbertson thought he had broke the deadlock when his cross cum shot agonisingly went past the post with the keeper left stranded.
The Plough did take the lead after 15 minutes with a stroke of fortune. A long kick from Stuart Lambert was headed back by the Bede Lodge defender towards his own goal but his team mate decided to help it on and headed back to his own keeper but the ball looped over his head for a kind own goal! Bede Lodge came back into the game and forced a number of corners but The Plough defence stood up strong and dealt with the Ariel threat. The Plough doubled their lead in the 25th minute with another bit of fortune in the build up play. Michael Curl played the ball down the left flank to Ben Lloyd but he miscontrolled the ball and it fell to Daniel Hill who turned his man superbly and fired low into the corner of the net. Bede Lodge once more came back into the game and were now enjoying a spell of pressure but were struggling to break down a resolute Plough defence. Shortly before half time the home side thought they had pulled a goal back when Marc McKenzie put in a great header on goal but Stuart Lambert pulled off a brilliant finger tip save to keep the lead intact. H/T 0-2 The Plough got the second period underway and immediately had the home side on the back foot and didn’t have long to wait before they increased the lead.
The ball was played in from the left hand side and Mark Atchison flicked the ball on to Hill who's shot was saved from the keeper from close range but it fell kindly at the feet of ANDREW McGuiness who finished from close range for the second week running. Bede Lodge weren’t finished and pulled a goal back five minutes later when Vaughan spun his defender in the area and fired a neat shot past Lambert in the away goal. The goal gave the home side a massive lift and now started to enjoy more of the ball in the middle of the pitch but still rarely threatened the away goal.
With Bede Lodge playing a high defensive line and looking to get back into the game The Plough went on to extend their lead. Chris Cuthbertson won the ball in midfield and played the ball up to Ben Lloyd who supplied a superb through ball for Mark Atchison to run on to and he made no mistake by rounding the keeper and rifling into the net. The Plough then extended their lead even further when the influential Ben Lloyd struck a contender for goal of the season. The ball was cleared, only as far as Lloyd who struck a brilliant volley from 35 yards out which flew high into the roof of the net. The Plough now had a platform to build on but moments later Bede Lodge were back in the game again when Marc McKenzie curled in a brilliant free kick from 25 yards out, giving Lambert no chance in goal. The goal actually gave the away side a lift as they took control of the rest of the game. The Plough didn’t have long to wait for a further goal and once again it was a cracker!
The ball was cleared but only as far as Chris Cuthbertson who spotted the keeper off his line and unleashed a great strike high into the roof of the net! The rout was complete in the dying minutes with a brilliant team goal. Midfield man Andrew McGuiness exploited the Bede's high defensive line and sent Chris Cuthbertson clear on the right hand side who raced clear but unselfishly pulled the ball back for Ben Lloyd to finish the move off from close range. Final score 7-2 to the Plough .Washington Victoria Crashed to a 4-1 Defeat at Coxhoe Wmc. Pelton Fc beat visitors Sherburn Lambton Arms 4-2.Lumley Fc lost 2-0 at Waterhouses Fc, Chilton Wmc were 3-0 winners at Washington Lambton Village, Sedgefield  NET Park had loads missing  for the Visit of West Rainton Fc,so the pack had to be reshuffled. A stop start game from beginning to end without any real flow this was mainly due to a hard and bumpy pitch. Too much whinging on by certain players rather than trying to play football spoilt the game. Goals from Turland 2, M.Broom 2 and Bland gave NET Park the 3 pts keeping them up with the promotion pack, leaving Rainton in the relegation dogfight.
In the Third Division Pelaw Grange Dogs FC entertained top of the league New Durham Wmc on a warm sunny day and Lintz Robinson was the referee. Pelaw were still missing striker Andy Tippins but Chris Hawkins was back after injury. Both teams played some attractive football and New DurhamWmc had supporters positioned around the pitch went the closest to scoring in the first half hitting the post and bar. Wayne Laws was also playing well in goal and all of Pelaws team were working hard together. In the second half both teams made substitutions but it wasn't until 5minutes to go that the deadlock was broken when Neil Worley beat there defender and put the ball into the back of the net. New Durham came back at Pelaw again but Pelaws Craig Bain marshaled his defense well to give them a deserved win. No doubt New Durham Wmc will be looking to win the return fixture in the near future.Pittington Fc were 3-0 winners at High Handenhold Bid Inn. Chester Cricket Club travelled to fellow division 4 promotion chasers Ferryhill Post Boy.  The game ended 0-0 with few clear cut chances created by either side to break the stalemate. In an entertaining match the Framwellgate Moor Salutation entertained Dubmire Wmc, It was the Salutation who took the lead through a great finish from Mark Hughes, Dumbire then equalised before Salutation took the lead for the second time, again through Mark Hughes. But again Dumbire pulled it back before they took the lead themselves, they then added a 4th. A late penalty from the Salutation brought it back to 4-3, but despite a host of chances  Dumbire hung on for the win. Steven Muse got his first for the club to open the scoring up in the 74 minute.

Tuesday 5th April

In the First Division Fatfield Biddick made their first trip to the Steelers and came away with all the spoils. Adam Malekpour scored his 13th goal of the season to level the game in the second half but this was not enough to stop the visitors from taking all the points in this top of the table clash. Sedgefield Black Lion lost 3-1 at Chester Osborne Wmc.
In the Second Division West Rainton Fc Crashed to a 5-1 defeat at Coxhoe Wmc, with a patched up team Washington Victoria Travelled to Waterhouses Fc both teams were missing a few players though. The game was spoiled by the wind. The score was 2-1 at half time The Vic scoring on 15 Mins Andrew Murray supplied the through-ball, and Paul Kindon found the net from just inside the box with a speculative right footed effort ,The Vic  missed numerous chances in the second Half , But the Final score 2-1 to Waterhouses Fc.Chilton Wmc were 2-0 winners at Sedgefield Net Park.
In the Third Division Witton Gilbert Wmc lost 3-2 at Bishop Middleham Cross Keys, Shadforth Plough played host to Framwellgate Moor WMC on a windy night, Shadforth kept the 3 – 5 – 2, It started in the 1st minute, Connor used the wind to play Moore in behind he met the ball with his head from 20 yards and lobbed a keeper who was in no-man’s land. 1 – 0 to the Plough inside a minute, Moore grabbing his 96th for the club. Moore made it 2 a few minutes later a brilliant finish as he burst into the box stumbled picked himself up, and drilled it into the far top corner with a sublime finish. Moore would be involved again as a huge kick from Collingwood, let Moore in behind he shot the keeper parried and R. Ascherl made it 3 from 3 for himself and 2nd top scorer for the club this season. The away team would come close to getting back into the game, Pearn cleared off the line as did S.Coxon, and Collingwood saved a penalty. The goals weren’t over for the 1st half, another huge kick from Collingwood saw Moore bursting in behind again, this time we slid the ball across the box for Jones, and he kept his cool and chipped over the diving keeper.  Moore went onto to complete a first half hat trick and made it 98 for the club just before half time. Half time 5 – 0 to the plough, but it could have easily been 5 – 4 some good defending from the home side kept the visitors at bay.  The second half got under way and we looked a lot more comfortable for the opening 20 minutes without scoring. The 6th of the night would again come from the right of Moore from the spot, Ascherl burst into the box went down under a clumsy challenge from the centre half, Moore stepped up and converted for his 13th league goal of the season and his 99th competitive goal for the club now the big question was, could he get his 100th for the club and his 5th of the night, he had about 20 minutes to do so. Clifford and Price cam onto replace Maddox and Coxon, both lads brought off after putting in a great shift. Moore came close to getting the 100th but put his shot straight at the keeper, Price would then put in a brilliant cross for Moore, after some great work down the right, Moore’s effort agonising wide. He would reach his Club century after he went round the keeper but had to scrap with the defender on the line, but it was there. 100 goals for the club.  The visitors wouldn’t give up and looked to ruin the party, Collingwood would make two brilliant saves and Clifford cleared off the line.
In the Fourth Division the Salutation and Durham Garden House shared the Points in a 2-2 draw. Chester Leonard’s Entertained Kelloe Davey Lamp In a hard fought game, a well delivered through-ball from Josh Fryer was converted by Alex Lowes. A first-class finish with the left foot from 15 yards out. This 1st half goal was enough to give Leonard’s all 3 points. Another class finish from the inform striker. The wind spoiled the game and Leonard’s had to fight really hard for the win. Their were some big performances from Leonard’s and a few carrying injuries. A mention for Michael Cossey, a new signing looks a class act in the centre of defense and at only 18 years old will be a very player next year. Washington Honest Boy were 4-2 winners at Burnmoor Jkrs.

Ramside Hall Cup Winner Cup Final – 8th April 2011

Kelloe Wmc cage the Lyons
By
Peter Playle
The rise in dominance of Kelloe Wmc is further endorsed  with a 3-1 Ramside Hall Cup Winners cup final win over close rivals Hetton Lyons CC. Kelloe pressed from the start and almost took the lead after eight minutes with a spectacular Gavin Barton overhead kick that’s just off target. Two minutes later he fairs a lot better with a powerful header to make it one nil. Hetton respond well and have their best spell of the game, a great Keith Graydon pass finds Stephen Capper free in the box but his goal bound effort is cleared off the line.  On the twenty five minute mark Hetton create their best effort, Kallum Grifffiths powerful run sets up Christopher Bell whose shot whistles past the wrong side of the post. Kellloe rock Hetton again with another headed goal eight minutes before the half time break, man of the match  Ian Ward finishing off a wonderful David Duke cross.                                                                 Hetton introduce veteran Jason Ainsley for the second half and five minutes after the restart get a lifeline back into the game with a fortunate penalty, Keith Graydon hammers the spot kick home to make it 2-1. However  Kelloe are in no mode to surrender their advantage and comfortable repel  Hettons advances. With time running out Hetton  gamble pushing men forward in search of an equaliser but to no avail, Kelloe finally  kill the game off  with a Keirn Megran effort in the eighty third minute to make the final score 3-1.

The Washington Arms made the long journey to Kelloe to play Davey Lamp in the semi-final of the Knock out Cup and made sure the return home would be a happy one with a fine 4-2 win. The Arms opened the scoring after eight minutes, Danny Murray heading home a great David Fittes cross. Davey Lamp equalise five minutes later with a corner kick that is sliced into the net to the surprise of the static Arms defenders. A brace of goals from David Fittes in the run up to half time seals the Arms first half dominance. Mid way through the second half Gary Alllen with a well placed shot from the edge of the box looked to have put the result beyond doubt, but a penalty fifteen minutes before the final whistle lifted the Davey Lamp lads giving them a slight chance to get back into the game. However the Arms always looked the most likely to score and comfortably saw out the remainder of the game. In the Other semi-final Langley Park Steelers Lost 2-1 at Coxhoe Wmc

In the Premier Division Chester Hilda Park entertained County Cup Finalists Kelloe WMC at the  Riverside in Chester le Street , Hilda Park  were missing captain Marc Smith who served the final game of his suspension, Steven Wood through work, Ross Watson through injury, Chris Duke who was working. Nevertheless, there was a game to be played and a much needed 3 points in Hilda Parks quest for Premier League Football next season. As expected Kelloe took control from the kick off, playing some very good football without really threatening, and it was in fact a bizarre opening goal that gave Kelloe  the lead; a right wing cross evaded both Hilda Park defence and goalkeeper and found its way into the far corner, which gave the visitors an early lead. The next real opening came Hilda Parks  way; Shaun Smith  turned well in the penalty area but couldn’t find a way past the oncoming keeper. The visitors continued to see a lot of the ball, working it well across the pitch, but we did what we had to do and defended well from the front, limiting Kelloe’s attempts on goal and in fact goalkeeper Scott McGuire was only forced to make 1 smart save low down to his left to keep the score at 1-0.
Half Time – Hilda Park FC 0 – 1 Kelloe After the restart, Kelloe continued to see a lot of the ball with the impressive Chris Smith controlling the play from the centre of the park. However, with the score still at 1, Hilda Park knew they were still in the game, and equalised mid-way through the half following good work from Shaun Smith, who supplied a pin point cross onto the diving head of Stephen Gregory to level the score. Unfortunately Kelloe got themselves back in front; again Minutes Later, a goal that could and should have been avoided, Gavin Barton eventually sliding under the keeper to put the visitors 2-1 up. Nevertheless, 10 minutes before time, Stephen Gregory found himself in space on the left of the Kelloe penalty area and drilled across the keeper to get his and Hilda’s second to bring the scores back level. Full Time – Hilda Park FC 2 – 2 Kelloe Wmc. Newton Aycliffe Wmc were 3-0 winners at Sedgefield St Edmunds and Sacriston Cricket Club won 2-0 at Ferryhill Wmc.

This was Mill's fourth win from their last five league fixtures. Mill were the better side throughout the first half but failed to test home keeper Scott Williams. Gilesgate were unfortunate not to take the lead when a quickly taken free kick early in the second half caught Mill's defence napping but an eventual shot from eight yards out was hit wide.
The only goal of the game came on sixty five minutes when David Hall slotted the ball past keeper Williams after some fine work from Gary Adey. With ten minutes remaining Mill should have doubled their lead when substitute Paul Rogerson, who had just been on the field a matter of seconds, mis hit a glorious chance.
In the Second Division Chester Net Park entertained Sherburn Lambton Arms A very close first half with both teams creating chances but it was NET Park would started to dominate possession and deservingly went ahead when Phillip Bland finished well when put through on goal after 35mins. H/T 1-0The next goal was going to be very important in this closely contested game and it was NET Park’s inform player Martin Broom who extended NET Park’s lead, 2-0. Sherburn started to revert to long balls that the NET Park defence cope with very well helped greatly by goalkeeper Stephen Torrison been very quick and brave off his line on a few occasions. F/T 2-0.Both teams are still very much in the promotion chase to Division One. Durham Bede Lodge were 4-3 winners at Pelton Fc, Chester Plough Inn were 4-2 winners at West Rainton Fc, Washington Victoria Inn entertained Chilton Wmc What a difference a day and a half makes! On Friday Night in the Cup Final played at New Ferens Park, The Victoria  had two fit subs on the bench ,today  we Had 5 and that’s what we need to be achieving every week ideally, The game itself, Victoria , were  superior all over the pitch. Chilton rarely troubled as the Victoria dominated possession. Liam Barnett gave the Vic something different in midfield, his first game for the Vic this season and he was on top form in the first half. Muzzy also used the ball to good effect,. Mickey Dowson returned today and was solid at left back; he got up and down the left hand side as though he'd never been away. Costa Lorraine returned to start up front with Paul Kindon. Although Pelaw stroked the ball well they fell behind from a corner when the tall Stephen Kitching was given a free header. Pelaw hit back but two saves from their keeper David Passmore from David Donnelly and then a header from Neil Worley saw the pressure come to nothing. By the break Pelaw were 3 down but this was more down to defensive mistakes and good finishing rather than Framwellgate being on top. After the break Neil Worley won a penalty but his free kick was saved only for Paul Curry to follow it up and put it into the back of the net. Pelaw were putting the pressure on Framwellgate Moor and Chris Gosnell cross from the wing sailed into the net to make it 3-2. Pelaw put relentless pressure on Framwellgate Moor but couldn't get the goal they needed although manager Paul Swinburn was doing well to win the ball in the air and hold it up for others coming forward. With so many players pressing up front and the legs tiring Pelaw left the back door open again as Framwellgate took advantage on two more occasions in the last 6 minutes to make the final score 5-2
In the Fourth Division Promotion chasers Chester Cricket Club hosted division 4 leaders New Brancepeth WMC, with the home side coming out on top 1-0.  This tightly contested affair was settled midway through the first half, when John Adamson put the finishing touch to a flowing move down the Cricketer's left hand side.  Chester CC were grateful to keeper Andrew Bell prior to the winning goal when he produced an excellent save from a penalty, which could've easily changed the course of the game. Chester CC had further cause to thank their keeper in the second half, man of the match Andrew Bell making at least two saves of real quality to deny New Brancepeth an equaliser they were pushing hard for. Quarrington Hill Wmc Travelled to Langley Park to play the Rams Head. Poor Quarrington Hill Wmc defending and some good fortune gifted Langley Park Rams Head a 4 goal lead inside the 1st half. The 1st goal after 5 minutes came after a miss controlled ball bounced kindly just inside the box for the Langley striker to produce an excellent finish. The second goal was a free kick which was crossed into the box missing everyone and found the net. The third was a well directed unchallenged header from a free kick and the fourth was the gift of the season from the Quarrington Hill centre half, trying to return a ball to the full back which was easily intercepted and well finished. Quarrington Hill got a goal back just before half time with a well worked goal down the right and finished cleverly by Lewis Newton. 4-1 half time. The game was over 5 minutes into the second half when Langley scored their goal of the game after some neat passing in midfield and a good finish. A good game well refereed and played in a decent spirit and a well desevered win for Langley. Some good football on an awful pitch. Final Score Langley Park Rams Head 5 Quarrington Hill 1. On a perfect morning for football, Framwellgate Moor Salutation took a trip away to Burnmoor Jkr. Sadly the football didn't match the weather, in what was an all together forgettable first half. With loose passing, missed tackles and wasted opportunities. The second half was an all together different match the salutation playing some nice football. The Salutation opened the scoring with a great piece of individual skill to take the ball down a lob the oncoming keeper. From then on it was really all one way traffic, with the salutation grabbing a well taken second, before the left back found him self with time and space in the opposition box to pick his spot and rifle his shot in to the roof of the net for 3 - 0.Chester Leonard’s were 3-2 home winners Over Dubmire Wmc, Ferryhill Post Boy were 2-1 winners at Washington Honest Boy and Washington Colliery were 4-1 winners at Ferryhill Dynamo’s
