Alan Smith Trophy 2ND Round  sponsored By Castle Insurance
Brandon Sports Club v Pelton   Roab Score: 2 – 1
Good, close contest. Pelton took an early lead and it took a while for Brandon to settle. Majority of the game it was very close but Brandon edged the second half, creating the majority of chances and subsequently equalising through Blades and sealing the victory through Fort. Peake getting the consolation goal for Pelton.
Pelaw Grange Dogs v  East Rainton fc  Score: 1 - 3 2 Goals from Jonathon Gaunt and 1 from Callum Munro secured a place in the next round of the cup for East Rainton.Sedgefield St Edmunds V Sacriston Cricket Club Fc  Score: 2 - 1A very good cup tie to watch. Sacriston started the brighter but were unlucky to go 1 down due to bad defending but Graham Embleton struck a beautiful free kick on the edge of the oppositions box. Half time went and Sacriston much the better team should of gone 3 or 4 -1 up if they took their chances but football is a strange game. Sedgefield scored a cracking free kick to make the final score 2-1. St Edmunds went 1 - 0 up after 30mins with a well struck 20yard shot from Stephen Flockett. but Sacriston equalised right on half time.Second half was end to end but Brian Fairhurst drilled a perfectly struck free kick into the corner of the net to put St Edmunds through to the next round.Stepys Coaches Presidents Trophy 1st RoundBowburn Athletic  v  Ushaw Moor Cricket  Club  Score: 0 - 3 Raisbeck, Ball and Abson scored for Ushaw Moor.Chester Whitehills v Washington Honest Boy  Score: 1 - 4The Honest Boy progressed into the next round of the cup winning an eventful game. The Boy started the better of the two teams but without creating much, the ball was contested mainly in midfield. Midway through the first half, a through ball from the Boy midfield caught the Whitehills defence flat footed and left the forward 1 on 1 with the Whitehills keeper who came out of his box and handled the ball. The referee was left with no other option that to send him off. With Whitehills down to 10 men the Boy looked to capitalise and had a couple of half chances but couldn't capitalise. Whitehills best spell of the game came when they forced a number of corners in succession, when the away team eventually cleared their lines, a break down the right saw the ball pulled back for the forward to drill a good finish in the bottom corner. Soon after a quick free kick caught Whitehills off guard and the ball floated in the net unchallenged. In the second half the Boy had chance to all but wrap the game up but the keeper stood firm and saved when 1 on 1. Immediately after, a long ball was left to bounce and the Whitehills forward hit a good effort that the keeper could only push towards the bar, it looped down and crossed the line game on. Whitehills hopes of getting back in the game were soon dashed though as another good move down the right saw the Boy striker notch his second with a simple finish. As the game drew to a close, the Boy's striker grabbed his hat-trick with another neat finish to settle the tie.
Durham County Seniors v Waldridge Park FC  Score: 2 - 4 Waldridge Park FC travelled to Durham County Seniors and had to come back from a two goal defecite at half time to book their place in the next round of the Stepys Coaches Trophy. At the start of the game both teams struggled to contend with a poor pitch however Waldridge settled first but were guilty of poor finishing when chances came. The home side punished these misses and took the lead with a penalty when there striker was upended in the box. A second came shortly after when a shot off a post found its way into the back of the net. After the break Waldridge went on the front foot and were awarded two penalties in quick succession when strikers Joe Hughes and Chris Days were brought down. Both penalties were dispatched by Hughes who went onto get his hat trick with a quick break and put Waldridge into the lead. This was extended when another fine move found Steven Dobbing free in the box and he fired home. Mom was midfielder and captain Chris Rooney.
Lumley edged a thrilling presidents cup game after extra time. A Ross Melvin hatrick and strikes from Kalugarama Thompson Cornell Kay & Liam Melvin sealed the win but goalkeeper Kieran Brown capped a man of the match performance with a string fine saves.
Excellent performance by Cherry Tree with a fantastic win to go through to the next round of the cup. another poor performance from bede lodge who are struggling to get their season up and running. goo performance fro cherry tree
Chester Le Street Brittania Inn v  Pity Me Lambton Hounds Score: 5 - 0
A good spirited contest that showed the difference in leagues between the 2 teams. The Brittania made use of the big pitch and created space for each other well, this allowed them to pass the ball around nicely and take advantage of the pace they had up front. Some of the goals were quite simple finishes as the away side lost their markers too easily. All in all a pretty easy win for the home side. The Britannia took an early lead in this Presidents Trophy fixture through Brinsley Sheridan and never looked back. Scott Hope continued his purple patch in front of goal with a penalty and Dan Johnson adding a third to make it 3-0 at Half Time. Shortly after half time Hope scored his second but then Darren Redfearn hobbled off to leave the hosts with only 10 men which disrupted there rhythm. Wes Hood made a couple of good saves to keep his clean sheet intact before a neat turn and shot by Sheridan made the final score 5-0.
Chester St Cuthberts v  Pelton Crown  Score: 7 - 0
Cuthberts got a good cup win this sunday. A fast start saw them 2 nil up inside 10 minutes through Tomo Gray and Mark Bailes, and but for a 10 minute period in the first half they controlled the game throughout. 5 nil by half time through Daniel Clarkson, Bailes again and Josh Fryer with a great volley.Cuthberts added another 2 in the second half, Bailes completing his hat trick and Andrew Clarkson rounding off the scoring from the spot.
Ferryhill Community Hub Vs Burnmoor JFC  Score: 4 - 3
Ferryhill got off to a flying start and quickly settled into the game. For the first 30 minutes they showed a real fighting spirit, always first to the ball and playing a calm passing game. Many chances were created in front of goal for Ferryhill in the first half which resulted in two well deserved goals and another goal from Mally Foster which took a slight deflection but a good goal none the less. For the last 10 minutes of the first half Burnmoor stepped their game up a notch and Ferryhill didn't seem to do much about it. As a result of their slackness Ferryhill allowed Burnmoor to pull one back. A 20 yard freekick just outside the box was taking superbly as the Burnmoor managed to fire it into the back of the net. Half time 3-1 to Ferryhill.Another lift at the start of the second half saw Ferryhill go all out again as they piled the pressure on the opposition which eventually paid off as a well timed through ball from Jason Leary allowed Mally Foster to turn and hammer the ball into the net putting Ferryhill 4-1 up. It was a well contested game from both sides as they fought hard throughout to create chances. It was Burnmoor again who stepped it up in the closing 20 minutes of the game. Scoring another goal from a second set piece gave them hope of a comeback. Burnmoor managed to clinch another goal in the final minutes of the game but unfortunately could not do enough to make a full comeback. Final Score: Ferryhill Hub 4 - 3 Burnmoor JFC
Langley Park Rams Head's  V Quarrington Hill Score: 0 - 1
A strange game , where somehow langley park lost this game.Langley missed so may chance, guilty of poor finishing, then hit woodwork and had 2 cleared of the line,Quarrington hill defended well and scored on the break, Just one of them days. A good game for the neutral -competitive but very fair - with both teams attacking' Langley Park more so than the visitors.
However, the effort and determination from the Hill paid off in the end with James Brown managing to score after some fairly good team build-up play.
Despite even further pressing from the home side, Q Hill were able to hold on for the narrow win.
Sedgefield Social Club  FC V Chester Relton Terrace  Score: 2 – 7
This was a very entertaining game which flowed from end to end throughout. The only goal came on the half hour when Rainton scored with a header from a corner kick. Mill came close to equalising in the first half whjen a rasping twenty yard piledriver fom Dean Clark narrowly missed and Daniel Johnston had a similar effort in the second half which rattled the cross bar.
Sacriston controlled the game to progress into the next round. A brace from Tom Winter, an own goal and a goal a piece for David Wardle, Shaun Forster and dean Smith
Bowburn V Hetton New Inn  Score: 4 - 8
some good football played by both teams, but with sloppy defending by hetton let bowburn score 4 goals, but in the end hetton had the upper hand ending the game with 8 goals.

Wjfc welcomed New Durham to their home ground for their latest Premier lgue encounter, ND started the better side closing down the home team from the KO,.their 2 strongest players were the 2 lads up front and it was their No.10 who put them in front after 20mins taking advantage of a poor back pass to nip in, go around Smith the keeper and side foot home 1-0 ND.
ND made it 2-0 when a good ball through the middle once again saw their No, 9 go around the keeper and fire into the corner of the goal from 12 yds H/T 2-0 ND.
The second half saw Wjfc come more into the game putting ND on the back foot, this paid dividends when Briggs scored a cracker from 18yds smacking the ball into the top left corner of the goal 2-1, ND lost their big striker through injury and as he was having a blinder this put Wjfc onto the front foot and they equakised with the ``goal of the game`` by Sinclair he received a pass which just bounced in front of him, he volleyed his shot from 35yds over the keeper who was 6 yds off his line the ball bounced a foot from thr goal line and into the top of the net 2-2 in the 68min, the game was won by the home team when a great ball to Miller on the right saw him cut into the box and his accurate pass to Briggs saw him dummy the keeper and side foot into an empty net Full Time wjfc 3-2 ND.
Hetton Lyons CCFC v Coxhoe WMC Score: 8 - 2
Hetton dominated throughout against a very poor Coxhoe team who were never in the game, scoring two consolation goals through Simon Ord and Ryan Burton.
Washington Cross Keys V Newton Aycliffe WMC Score: 3 - 1
teams matched each other for most of the first half with the first goal coming from Alan Wilson with a ball over the top latched on by wilson to round the keeper with a great one on one finish. 1-0 Second goal by Gary Allen which was protested by aycliff as he looked offside but the goal counted after a great strike from Michael Fletcher was poked home from Allen, looked like it was going in anyway!! Third came from Ross Docherty and well deserved as he worked it well and played his socks off in midfield. 3-0. Aycliff got a consolation goal. Ended 3-1 great result from Keys

Facing a Gilesgate Side for the 2nd time in two weeks they had there big guns on show and having lost the first game , which we still cant get our heads around this was a totally different and Stronger Gilesgate side.We started well up for it and challenged for every ball the midfield battling and defence holding strong with Young Goalkeeper Liam Bennett pulling of s=ome outstanding saves.
The pressure from Gilesgate was constant and HIlda used there pace for a quick break, it was one of these breaks where midfielder Chris Watson got hold of a pass from Jonathan Yip and slotted the ball home passed James in the Gilesgate Goal. The game stayed like this for the last 10minutes with
New Brancepeth Wmc  V Sherburn  Village Lambton Arms  Score: 2 - 2
A very entertaining game at new brancepeth with sherburn starting the brighter and going 2 0 up but new brancepeth came back into it and with two fine solo efforts by mom anthony Holliday the game was even, and was unlucky not to get his hatrick!a great chance fell to craig hindmarch who tried to lob the keeper who handballed outside the area and was red carded, new brancepeth cudnt make use of the xtra man so it finished 2 2 A match that could of gone either way even though sherburn were 2- nil up new Brancepeth battled hard and put away two goals. A little bit of drama with the sherburn keeper getting sent of for handling out side the box but a quite game.
