Hetton New Inn 0 v  6 Pelaw Grange Dogs
With the Dogs down to the bare bones due to injuries and only 11 fit players we kicked off down the slope. In the opening exchanges Turnes missed a glorious chance when presented with a one on one but shot straight at the advancing keeper and Bain kept it level with a few good saves.
The Dogs then took the lead with good link up play between Henderson and Worley with the latter being brought down for a penalty which he got up to convert. It was 2-0 when a free kick by Gosling was met with a thumping header by Turnes. Hargreaves who was carrying an injury himself replaced Donnelly who was carried off with a bad ankle injury. H-T 0-2The second half began with Hetton New Inn pushing forward trying to get back in the game but Bain and the Dogs defence held firm. The game was over as a contest when a cross from Hargreaves was touched on by Harvey and controlled and volleyed home by Turnes to make it 3-0. Turnes then completed his hat trick by heading home at the far post following a corner by Henderson to make it 4-0. It was soon 5-0, when Curry, who had been forced to go up front after being injured in the first 30mins, robbed the Hetton centre half and unselfishly laid it to Henderson to tap in. The scoring was over when a through ball by Henderson put Harvey clear and his shot/block tackle looped over the keeper to make it 6-0.
A great team performance considering we were struggling with numbers and had to change formation 3 times due to more injuries during the game
Man of the Match: Kevin Turnes
