Andrew Blackburn played the ball to John Cook who calmly slotted it in the bottom left corner.2nd half BMFC started brightly but against the run of play Kelloe again took the lead. BMFC continued to keep the ball and played some bright, possession football which resulted in the equaliser. Joe Williamson kept the ball and went back to Jake Pearson who sent a long pass through that Andrew Blackburn went to challenge the keeper but both missed the ball, which resulted in Pearson flaming his 1st ever goal. BMFC then started to dictate which resulted in 2 quick fire goals, the first from Joe Williamson who fired in a cross that was headings to the top corner which the keeper made sure of. The 2nd came from another Andrew Blackburn assist who squared the ball to Sean Cook who smashed it in to make sure of the victory. Chester The Britannia v Waldridge Park FC Score: 2 – 5
Waldridge Park FC took on 2nd
Division side and local rivals Chester the Britannia in the first round of the
League Cup and ran out impressive 5-2 winners. In an entertaining game it was
The Brit who struck first with a well taken free kick. They increased their
lead minutes later when a ball ran free into the box which their forward hit
home. Having struck the crossbar three times Waldridge pulled one back when
striker Chris Days found himself free in the box and put a low shot past the
keeper. After the break Waldridge levelled it up when a good passing move found
Days at the far post to score. The Brit came. Back and only a last ditch diving
header on the line by defender and man of the match Jake Burns kept the scores
level. This spurred Waldridge on and they took the lead when Steven Dobbing
ghosted in off the right wing and fired past the keeper. The lead was extended
when a left footed strike by Lloyd McGee found the bottom corner. The scoring
was rounded off when another fine passing move from midfield found Joe Hughes
in the box who in turn found Dobbing to grab his second and Waldridge's fifth.
Once again a great performance by all players from front to back to put
Waldridge into the next round.
Brandon Sports Club v Chester-Le-Street St Cuthbert’s Score: 11 – 4
Brandon Sports Club v Chester-Le-Street St Cuthbert’s Score: 11 – 4
Quite a comprehensive victory in
the end for the hosts who led 6-1 at the break. Kidd set Brandon on their way
early after good link-up play with Hanson. The visitors fought hard all game
and were level at 1-1 a quarter an hour into the game with a close range
header, this only seemed to wake Brandon up however and they went nap after
that. In the second half Brandon made a couple of changes and probably took
their foot off the pedal. Allowing St Cuthbert’s three consolation strikes in
the last ten minutes.

Pity Me Lambton Hounds vs. Ferryhill Community Hub Score: 4 – 2
A good end to end game contested by
2 teams from the same division. Some good play by both teams in the first half
with chances for both sides, highlighted by a rasping free kick by the away
side to equalise and make it 1-1 at half time. The home side came out with a
purpose in the second half, and within a couple of minutes some great inter
play down the right resulted in a pull back for the oncoming midfielder to fire
in low in to the corner from the edge of the box. This gave Pity Me some
impetus and they smothered the away side, stopping them from playing. Some
persistence from the home side’s striker, who had been unlucky most of the game
finally got him a goal when he chased a loose ball through and managed to get
it away from the keeper and poke it in to an empty net. Ferryhill started to
come in to the game a little bit, trying to get down the right most of the
time. Eventually this persistence paid off, with a rasping shot from the edge
of the box flying in to the net to make it 3-2. The game carried on in the same
vain, chances and controlled possession by both teams but then some more good
work down the right for Pity Me allowed them another easy goal to kill the game
off.An early goal from pity me put them 1-0 up of which they kept for the
majority of the first half. Ferryhill managed to convert a 20 yard free kick
with 5 mins remaining of the first half left making it 1-1 at half time. Pity
me managed to score a quick goal straight from kick off going 2-1 up and did
not waste much time in scoring another well-deserved goal to 3-1 up. Ferryhill
responded with long range effort to make it 3-2 but could not quite get back
into the game as pity me finished it off and scored another. Final score: pity
me 4 - 2 Ferryhill hub
High Shincliffe Avenue vs. Gilesgate Moor the Shoes Score: 2 - 5
the score line doesn't reflect the game, High Shincliffe easily matching if not outplaying The Shoes. Not to take anything away from the victors who battled hard and took their chances. Avenue gave the opposition too many easy goals including one where the 'keeper thought offside had been blown when it hadn't, calamity city!! Avenue had a clear-cut penalty denied when the ball was handled on the line but the ref didn't blow. Josh Carr scored both of the Avenue's goals to take his tally to 3 for the season.
