Stepys Coaches Presidents Trophy 3rd Round

Chester Relton Terrace 4 Vs  1 High Shincliffe Avenue
A Much More Closely Fought Cup Tie Than The Score-Line Suggests. High Shincliffe Lost Regular 'Keeper Simon Coultas In The Warm-Up Due To Injury And He Was Replaced By No.10, Craig Browne. The Game Kicked Off And Relton Terrace Had The Better Of The First 10 Minutes Pressing High Shincliffe But Only One Clear Chance For Their Striker Was Claimed By The Deputising Browne. The Game Then Started Evening Out And The Avenue Pushed On And Had A Few Chances Of Their Own. After Around 20 Minutes Relton Terrace Took The Lead Through A Cool Finish Although There Were Reasonable Suspicions Of Offside. Moments Later, A Reckless Challenge On Josh Crisp By A Relton Midfieler Saw Him Being Booked. Crisp, Just Back From A Broken Ankle, Unwisely Lashed Out And Saw Red Having Already Been Booked In The Early Stages. The Game Battled On And The Sides Went In 1-0 At Half-Time. The Second Half Progressed With 10 Man High Shincliffe Having Much Of The Play And Really Pressing Relton For An Equaliser. The Avenue Defence Were All Excellent In Particular Josh Craig And Skipper Andrew Sharp Was Busy In The Midfield. Mattie Barber Was Introduced For Michael Robson To Add A Second Striker As The Avenue Pursued Their Goal. After A Few Chances Andrew Pascoe Lashed In A Low-Driven Free Kick From Around 30 Yards. Paul Roughley Replaced Pascoe To Give Some Fresh Legs Up Top As High Shincliffe Pressed On To Steal The Tie, Both Sides Battling Well. Relton Took The Lead After A Speculative Shot Took A Bobble Over Browne's Hand Into The Bottom Corner. With Six Minutes To Go The Avenue Manager Thought It Was A Good Idea To Introduce A 3rd Striker To Try Nick Another Equaliser In An All-Or-Nothing Move. Right-Back Phil Blacklock Was Sacrificed For Liam Lawson But It Wasn't To Be. The Gap At The Back Allowed Relton To Counter And Get A 3rd On 88, As The Avenue Ploughed All Men Forward For Late Corners The Relton Winger Scored An Outrageous Lobbed Strike From 40 Yards To Kill The Game Off.

Lumley Reacted Well And Pushed Forward Forcing David Flowers To Make Two Fine Saves When One-On-One, And They Pulled One Back On 72minutes With An Unstoppable Shot By James Laider. Durham Put The Tie To Bed In The Closing Moments When Mark Hughes Lobbed The Keeper From Distance With A Classy First Time Finish

As The Game Progressed It Was Sandhills Who Were To Take The Lead Against The Run Of Play Leaving Coxhoe With It All To Do. Heading Towards Full Time Coxhoe Substitute Jordan Lavery Cut Inside And Hit An Unstoppable Right Foot Shot Into The Top Corner To Take The Tie Into Extra Time. Soon After The Restart Wilson Rose Really Well To Head In At The Back Post For Cross Keys To Take The Lead Then Got A 3rd After Horn Lost The Ball For The Vic In Midfield And Greens Fine Ball Found The Cross Keys Front Man In Space To Add His 2nd And Keys 3rd. Very One Sided Game And The Score Could Have Been Much Larger If It Wasn't For A String Of Good Saves From The Home 'Keeper Other Than One Or Two Times When Pity Me Came Close, Hittin The Post And Bar, And Having A Goal Ruled Out For Offside, Whitehills Dominated The Game. Scoring Really Early, And Building On That By Having Lots Of Posession And Chances.
