Hetton started much the better side and took the lead in the 15th minute, good work from Bell on the right to the bye line and his cross was flicked in at the near post from Mattie Weirs 0-1. Washington kept pumping the balls  long but the Lyons defence kept them at bay. Hetton had to wait until the hour mark to go two up; a cross from the right from Teasdale and Thorpe was there to smash the ball into the net. Washington pushed forward but created no real chances and the Lyons were unlucky not to increase their lead with Louis Teasdale saw his shots cleared off the line and smashing against the bottom of the post.

Washington New Tavern FC 1 v 1 Durham County Seniors FC

Washington took the lead mid way through the first half somewhat against the run of play and helped by some poor defending, with the visitors equalising shortly afterwards, Lee Walker supplying the ball over the top then Mark Hughes with a neat finish low down to the keepers left. Hughes then almost scored again hitting a sweet half-volley from distance which the keeper did well to tip over the bar. Overall a score draw was a fair reflection

Chester-le-Street Cricket Club 2  v 3 Sedgefield NETPark
Both teams had players missing but they both managed to get teams together. NET Park started the better team but the pitch was in poor condition for any type of decent football to be played on. NET Park took the lead just before half time with a goal by Chris Barber, H/T 0-1
A few chances for both teams before a good move was finished by Martin Broom 0-2. NET Park increased their lead with a good finish by Dan Pilling 0-3. The Second Half Progressed With 10 Man High Shincliffe Having Much Of The Play And Really Pressing Relton For An Equaliser. The Avenue Defence Were All Excellent In Particular Josh Craig And Skipper Andrew Sharp Was Busy In The Midfield. Paul Roughley Replaced Pascoe To Give Some Fresh Legs Up Top As High Shincliffe Pressed On To Steal The Tie, Both Sides Battling Well. Relton Took The Lead After A Speculative Shot Took A Bobble Over Browne's Hand Into The Bottom Corner. With Six Minutes To Go The Avenue Manager Thought It Was A Good Idea To Introduce A 3rd Striker To Try Nick Another Equaliser In An All-Or-Nothing Move. Right-Back Phil Blacklock Was Sacrificed For Liam Lawson But It Wasn't To Be. The Gap At The Back Allowed Relton To Counter And Get A 3rd On 88, As The Avenue Ploughed All Men Forward For Late Corners The Relton Winger Scored An Outrageous Lobbed Strike From 40 Yards To Kill The Game Off.

Very One Sided Game And The Score Could Have Been Much Larger If It Wasn't For A String Of Good Saves From The Home 'Keeper Other Than One Or Two Times When Pity Me Came Close, Hittin The Post And Bar, And Having A Goal Ruled Out For Offside, Whitehills Dominated The Game. Scoring Really Early, And Building On That By Having Lots Of Posession And Chances. The Goals Were Made Easier By Some Poor Marking And Defensive Mistakes By Pity Me And In The End Was A Comfortable 7 Goal Win For Whitehills.

JD Taxis Round 2
Sacriston CCCFC 10 v 1 West Rainton
This match was a good contest for the first 30 minutes with West Rainton contesting the ball well all over the pitch and were proving difficult to break down. Sacriston took the lead on 10 minutes when Yates flicked the ball round the corner where Ward picked it up and ran straight at the heart of the West Rainton defence before carrying the ball to within 10 yards from goal and finishing clinically side footed past the keeper. West Rainton levelled on 21 minutes when a left wing corner was cleared back to the taker at the near post by Jones who went out to close down the following cross but the ball sailed into the corner of the net without a touch, a very soft goal to concede.Sacriston responded by going straight up the field and scoring when Coillinson was in the right place at the right time to tap home from 3 yards after Quinn’s shot had been saved by the West Rainton goalkeeper. On 27 minutes Sacriston made it 3-1 when Michael Frazer’s deep free kick was not cleared and the ball fell to Grant Boyd from 10 yards out and he finished beautifully with a drilled left footed strike which arrowed into the bottom right hand corner of the net.Sacriston made it 4-1 seven minutes later when another powerful run from the impressive Ward down the left hand side resulted in him playing the ball across to Quinn who then played the ball into Yates and he found some room for himself inside the box and finished well with his left foot.A clever short corner routine resulted in a 5th goal on 41 minutes when Collinson played the ball into the near post where Gregory was there to head home.Thornton came on to replace Gregory at half time. Yates quickly made it 6-1 straight after the re-start when Collinson played him through and he buried his finish with a powerful left footed shot which went into the top right hand corner of the net.
Yates then completed his hatrick when Ward put him through on goal and he calmly slotted the ball past the West Rainton goalkeeper with the outside of his right foot into the right hand corner of the net.Greg Coates replaced the excellent Collinson and made an immediate impact scoring twice in 5 minutes. Ward again was at the heart of it playing Coates in down the right hand side where he ran into the box with the ball and shot powerfully into the roof of the net. Neil Couling came on for Grant Boyd.Greg Coates’s 2nd and Sacriston’s 9th goal came on 59 minutes when Neil Couling’s excellent left wing cross found him in space at the back post and Coates took his shot first time and side footed his shot first time into the bottom left hand corner of the net. Then Yates completed the scoring on 62 minutes after Couling had passed the ball into him and his scuffed shot from the edge of the box somehow found its way into the net.James Thornton nearly scored the goal of the game when he audaciously tried to chip the keeper from 30 yards out but the ball cannoned back of the cross bar. The final whistle blew shortly afterwards to make the final score 10-1 and gives us a last 16 tie away at Chilton WMC in the next round!
