Shadforth  Plough opened their 2012/13 season with a win in the Trophy , entertaining The Avenue The Avenue took the lead through an own goal by Graeme Coxon, he attoned for his error with a speclative 20 yard half volley which looped into the top corner, Stephen Maddox would give the hosts the lead with a great solo run from wide before sliding the ball past the keeper, Moore double the lead after some good football, the visitors played the best in the second half and got one back when Stephen Maddox turned one into his own net, Shincliffe should have levelled when a free header from a corner was put over from 6 yards, The Plough just did enough too put their name in the hat for the 2nd round.Chester Plough Inn got their season under way with a home fixture to premier league outfit Coxhoe wmc. The home side started the brighter of the two sides with The Plough playing some great neat football. Against the run of play Coxhoe took the lead with a fine finish from just outside the area. The goal settled the away team down as they started to play some good football in the central area. The Plough had an excellent opportunity to equalise shortly before half time when Hill drilled the ball across the area which landed at the feet of Sherrif but his close range shot was superbly saved by the Coxhoe keeper.
The second half kicked off and both sides continued to play some good passing football. The home side got a deserved equaliser when Hill played in Aaron Sherrif who drilled a superb strike past the keeper from distance.  The Plough took the lead not long after when Ben Lloyd supplied a great through ball which Daniel Hill slotted past the Coxhoe keeper. The home side continued to press to try and kill the game off but found the Coxhoe keeper in sparkling form as he made a string of top class saves. The away side enjoyed a spell of pressure themselves and forced a couple of great saves from Graham Unsworth in The Plough goal. Coxhoe took advantage of the tired legs in the home defense as they took advantage of some sloppy defending scoring two goals by quick succession. Pelw Grange Dogs  travelled to Adventure Lane, to play West Rainton The Dogs lost the toss and Rainton decided to kick up hill first half which seen the Dogs have most of the play, even so chances where not coming easy Rainton worked extremely hard to close down and managed to counter attack well on the break. The Dogs main chances came from some great Henderson corners but no one could make contact to finish. The Dogs then broke away down the right when Gosnell and Wood combined well but the cross was easily dealt with. The Dogs also managed to be offside more in the first half of this game then the full of last season, not possible? Yeah it was! With very little getting created the Dogs finally got a bit luck and when then Rainton keeper spilled the ball and Mclean was on hand to put the ball into and empty net for his 1st competitive goal. Chris Harvey then had a chance to put us two ahead when Henderson crossed a ball from the left that just bounced in front of the keeper and Harvey and neither made contact. (Half Time) Second half started and the Dogs where all over the place, Rainton where using the hill and a wind that appeared to there advantage with long balls but the Dogs defence stood it’s ground and cleared there lines. It was way into the second half when Rainton where awarded a free kick that was crossed into the box from the wing and not dealt with for the Rainton number 9 to tap in from close range. Pelaw looked to go back in front when Harvey was played in and his effort was saved by the Rainton keeper. With only minutes left Rainton got the winner when keeper Adnitt missed a back pass due to a massive bobble and the Rainton number 9 slotted in for his second of the game.Bowburn Fc lost 9-1 at Washington Lambton Village Fc,

Sacriston WMC  entertained Washington Jays , Sacriston  started the stonger of the two sides but some sloppy defending could have seen them go 1-0 down, the defence failed to deal with a simple ball and allowed the Jays striker in on goal, only a good save from Potts down to his left stopped the goal. After this Sacriston got into gear and the 1st goal came when Ryan Nicholson broke from his own box with the ball, a 75 yard run and a 1-2 with Sam Renwick saw him bearing down on goal, he slipped the ball into the net from an acute angle to make it 1-0. Sacriston should have gone further in front and had several chances to but some great work from the Jays keeper kept the score at 0-1 at half time. The second half started much the same as the first had ended with Sacriston having lots of the ball and applying pressure, David Winter rose to head a long throw from Renwick into the net and make it 0-2, the 3rd came from some great play by Graham Embleton, he slipped the ball through to Renwick who passed the ball around the keeper to make it 3. The 4th was the best of the lot with several players involved, the ball was squared eventaully to Liam Burn on the edge of the area, he took one touch and curled a lovely finish into the bottom cornerFinal Score Washington Jays 0-4 Sacriston WMCLeague Newcomers Chester Relton Terrace lost 2-1 at  Ushaw Moor Cricket Club.           In the Big Sedgefield Derby the Social Club were 4-1 home winners over Netpark.Lumley Fc crashed to a 3-1 home defeat by Washington New TavernAfter 2 excellent pre-season wins in the friendlies and after a busy summer of players coming in and going out Sacriton Cricket Club travelled to Gilesgate Moor Queens Head for the first game of the season. The game started tentatively with both teams feeling each other out and then on 8 minutes the Cricketeres took the lead. A swift move resulted in a cross from the right hand side which was headed back across goal at the far post by O’Brien where Gregory got the final touch in front of the onrushing keeper on to Yates and he finished well with his left foot from 6 yards out.Sacriston then shot themselves in the foot 5 minutes later and allowed Gilesgate to get level. A long hopeful punt up field from the Gilesgate keeper caused panic in the Sacriston defence where Michael Frazer ducked and allowed the ball to bounce and the other 2 Sacriston defenders in O’Brien and Bladen were slow to react and the Gilesgate forward  did well to nip in unmarked and place his shot into the corner of the net past the on rushing Hall in the Sacriston goal!Gilesgate nearly went ahead soon after when hesitation again in the Sacriston defence allowed room for the Gilesgate player to take a shot from 12 yards but the shot was well saved by Hall down to his right. Sacriston finished the half much the stronger and nearly went ahead when Gary Draper drifted across the penalty box unmarked and he received a ball into feet following a good move down the left hand side but he could not readjust his body position in time to direct his shot goal wards.Yates was in the thick of the action for Sacriston and he twice missed good headed chances following good crosses from the right hand side from Quinn and Draper.Half time came and went and then on 47 minutes Sacriston went ahead when Gregory was fouled on the left hand side 25 yard from goal. Gary Draper took the resulting free kick and he floated the ball perfectly towards the back post where Gregory was there to stoop low and head home for a 2-1 lead.Sacriston continued to dominate the play and had nearly all the possession and apart from the odd moment of hesitation in defence where Quinn and Bladen swapped positions were in control. Then on 67 minutes the Cricketers  should have made the game safe. Marc Hall sent a booming long kick forward out of defence and the ball was flicked on by Yates on to Collinson who all of a sudden found himself baring down on goal and just as he was about to shoot the Gilesgate defender brought him down for a clear penalty. Gary Draper steeped up to take the penalty but the Gilesgate keeper guessed correctly and saved well diving to his rightSacriston still had opportunities but we just could not put them away. Gregory came off after a good debut on 65 minutes and was replaced by Thornton who had an excellent match, Ward came on for Yates and Couling came on for Solan. Gilesgate did have their 5 minutes of sustained pressure between 80 & 85 minutes when they had a succession of corners and good territory.
Considering the 2-1 scoreline we finished the final 3 minutes much the stronger side and had more chances to score. Ward was set free one on one with the keeper and he had his shot well saved. Then in the final minute we final managed to secure the game when after some clever link up play down the left hand side between Thornton, Couling & Collinson the ball came to Grant Boyd who after careful footwork inside the 6 yard box found the space to bury his left foot shot into the corner of the net. The final whistle was then immediately blown to make the final score 3-1.to the Cricketers.

In the Leagues  Premier Division The Only Game saw Champions Hetton Lyons Cricket Club entertain Kelloe Wmc. Nervous start from both teams but the Lyons opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, a cross from the right hand side from Teasdale and Nicky Kane was their to score. Hetton went 2-0 up in the 41st minute a short corner from Gordon to Craig Price and he skipped past one defender in to the 18 yard box and his shot gave the keeper no chance. Kelloe had a good chance to pull a goal back just before half time but the shot went wide of the goal.Second half and the Kelloe goalkeeper was making some great saves from Wallace Craggs and Teasdale and in the 67th minute great work on the left from Craggs squared the ball across the 18 yard box to Captain Marc Ellison and he made no mistake to make 3-0. Kelloe had a penalty appeal turned down but the Lyons were worthy winners
