FA Sunday Cup

The FA Sunday Cup ,131 teams applied and the FA accepted 130, so on the face of it, it sounds like just 1 team was denied entry in to the competition. However, on closer examination, 4 applicants were refused (Canada, Garston, Lion Athletic and Seymour). 3 of these sides are from the Liverpool & District SL. Lion Athletic are members of the Crosby & District league. So, not a good day for the Liverpool FA then, losing 4 sides. This would be a big problem for the majority of County FA's but as Liverpool will still have 22 sides in the cup, it doesn't affect them too much!

Replacements

CB Hounslow United - West Middlesex SL
Golden Lion - Croydon SL
Towngate - Heavy Woollen Gate SL (West Riding)

All of the above were not on the original list of entrants. I guess they were late in applying.
Warstones Wanderers of the Wolverhampton & District SL have become the first casualties in the Sunday Cup, before they have even played a game in it!!They have withdrawn from the competition, so their opponents, 3 time semi finalists Birstall Stamford of the Charnwood SL, have a walkover in to the 2nd round.Wisbech St Mary have become the second side to withdraw from the competition before its even begun. The team from the Kings Lynn Sunday league were due to travel to Cannock Chase, to face Belt Road, who now have a walkover in to the 2nd round.
