Barton Fires Kelloe Wmc into the Next Round
Holders of the League Cup sponsored By Spennymoor Town Fc Kelloe Wmc travelled to Fellow Premiership side Newton Aycliffe Wmc in this Seasons Competition; Newton Aycliffe went at the visitors from the start and after missing several half chances were awarded a penalty. Owens spot kick was well saved by Carl Morris, and within a minute of the Penalty Miss Kelloe took the lead against Aycliffe WMC FC through Stuart Thompson Fifteen minutes later Swinburn got free on the left and scored a deserved equaliser for Aycliffe, and then Mark Henson struck to make the game 2 - 1 at half time to Kelloe. With only a couple of minutes on the clock in the second Half, Swinburn volleyed his second goal to bring the scores level. Ten minutes later in what had been an excellent game Kelloe regained the lead Gavin Barton, scoring.Kelloes superior fitness began to tell and they scored two more goals in the last ten minutes, Nick Gibson and Andrew Soppitt to prove worthy winners.
Last Seasons Beaten Finalists Sedgefield Black Lion were 6-2 Home winners Over Chilton Wmc . Hetton Lyons progressed to the next round of the cup with a comfortable win against Visitors Houghton Mill All Stars, the All Stars Playing their 1000 th Competitive Game. The Lyons almost took the lead after 11 minutes but Leon Ryan's header hit the post, Hetton did open their account after 18 minutes with a cross from Johnny Butler and Leon Ryan headed the ball across the box giving the goalkeeper no chance. Houghton's Gary Adey came close to equalizing 4 minutes later with a free kick from 25 yards but the ball smashed against the cross bar, the Lyons went 2 up after 28 minutes when Chris Bell was brought down in the penalty area and Liam Beeston scored from the penalty spot. Keith Graydon saw his shot minutes later tipped over the bar from the Mill goalkeeper with a brilliant save. The Lyons pushed on in the second half and Tommy English chipped the goalkeeper from the edge of the 18 yard box with a brilliant goal to make it 3-0. Leon Ryan got his second goal of the game after 55 minutes with a great pass from Graydon and Ryan hit it on the volley and the keeper had no chance 4-0. On the hour mark the Lyons went 5 up when from a corner to Houghton goalkeeper Keith finch collected the ball then kicked it out to Bell who beat the defender then slipped it under the goalkeeper to score. Houghton scored after 73 minutes with a ball across the box and Gary Adey put it wide of the Lyons keeper to score.Adey should have scored his second goal from a penalty, when Beasley handled the ball in the area, but his spot kick went high over the crossbar. Final Score 5-1 to the Lyons.
With only 11 players available for selection Sedgefield Netpark for the Cup Tie at Lumley Fc .Netpark knew they would have a roll up their sleeves and dig in. Maybe it was just the incentive the Club needed as they gained their first victory of the season. The 1st half was very even with Lumley Fc taking the lead three times with Netpark replying.
There were some very good goals scored by both sides albeit at times with help of some poor defending. The score was 3-3 at H/T, Net park got into their stride straight away and were 5-3 up with 20mins remaining, Todd Young opened his account for Net park with a brilliant individual goal. Three Net park players were struggling with knocks but with no subs they all had to continue, Lumley put on some fresh legs but Net Park stood firm. Net park had two clear headers that missed the target any of them going in would have killed the game off early but Lumley did have a few chances near the end but overall Net park deserved the victory and a place in the 3rd Round.Pelton ROAB were reduced to 10 Men and needed extra Time to beat Brandon Bay Horse, Pelton Goals coming from Ball Peck Lines And Extra Time Winner From Graver.Ferryhill Wmc were 3-1 winners at Ushaw Moor Cricket Club.Washington Jkr crashed to a 3-0 Defeat at Sedgefield st Edmunds.
Langley Park Steelers were 2-1 winners at Sacriston Cricket Club, Chester Plough Inn entertained an under strength Waterhouses FC in the League Cup With only ten minutes on the clock the home side took the lead when Chris Howey's corner was headed home by MICHAEL CURL. The early goal gave the reds a big confidence boost and managed to double the lead in the 20th minute. Jamie Seymour broke down the left flank and burst into the box before pulling the ball back for MARK ATCHISON to drive the ball past the keeper. Midfield maestro Ben Lloyd was pulling the strings in the middle of the park and set DANIEL HILL through on goal who made no mistake. Ben Lloyd was involved again as he supplied the through ball for DANIEL HILL to race on to and coolly lob the away keeper. It was once again Ben Lloyd who set up JOEL BADDAMS with another defence splitting pass, with pacey midfielder racing clear before slotting home. It was now turning into a rout for the home side as Jamie Seymour twisted and turned in the area before squaring for MICHAEL CURL to fire home from close range. Half Time 6-0 to the Plough Waterhouses started the second period and were immediately on the back foot against a rampant Plough Inn. In the opening stages CHRIS HOWEY notched his first goal for the club when his cross from deep on the right sailed over the keeper and into the roof of the net. Three changes by the home side didn’t affect the balance of play and it was substitute John Adamson who linked well with MARK ATCHISON to fire into the corner of the net. Midfield man Ben Lloyd set NATHAN BADDAMS free on the left as he coolly curled the ball over the Waterhouses keeper. The home side were now looking for double figures and didn’t have long to wait as Michael Curl went on a dazzling run from centre half before crossing to JOHN ADAMSON to poke home from close range. New boy Craig Johnson was enjoying his midfield role and created an opening for MARK ATCHISON to complete his hat-trick as he fired home past Anthony Wilson in the away goal. Man of the match Mark Atchison turned provider as he burst down the left flank before playing in JOHN ADAMSON who finished superbly past the Keeper.Sacriston Wmc Lost 3-2 at Durham Bede Lodge.
Chester Hilda Park lost 2-1 at Houghton Comrades.
In the Only Game in the second Division The Fatfield Biddick Inn Travelled to Chester Osbornne,The Osborne went 1-0 up through Andrew willcock after around fifteen mins, Biddick drew level soon after with a fine back post volley. Steven Kirk up was sent off soon after and the Osborne down to 10 men. The Osborne held on right until the last second when Biddick were awarded a dubious corner that found a player at the back post unmarked who obliged by claiming all 3 points for biddick
In the Third Division East Rainton FC entertained Bishop Middleham Cross Keys Both teams wanted to play football and for the neutral there was some good Football played. Jonathan Gaunt Has continued where he left off last season with 4 goals, Callum Hopps is proving to be a great signing. Another goal and a constant threat. The scoring was rounded off by Martin Oscroft. Although Bishop Middleham were behind they continued to play some good football and on another day, the score may have been different. Final Score East Rainton 6-1 Bishop Middleham Cross Keys. Pelaw Grange Dogs won their 3rd game in a row but had to work hard as they went 1 nil down to Witton Gilbert WMC Fc within 10 minutes but responded within 5 minutes to go 1-1 and then in around another 15 minutes to go into the half time 2-1 up. The goals coming from forwards Chris Hawkins and Neil Worley. 15 minutes into the second half subs David Carter and Peter Snowball came on for Gary Ryan and Neil Worley and they then went 3-1 up but Gilbert were not finished and came back to make it 3-2 before the final whistle. Man of the match for the Pelaw Grange Dogs was awarded to James McGee who had a good game in defence. Witton scorer David Callcutt was theirs. Referee Stephen Clifford had a good performance. After a goalless first half Framwellgate Moor WMC took a lead early in the second half against visitors Houghton Chilton Lodge, This was against the run of play after a mix up in the Chilton Lodge defence. Headed goals from Shaun Smith and Gave Tate and a beautifully flighted free-kick by Jonathan Fox turned the game in Chilton's favour as they went on to win the match comfortably.3.1
In The Fourth Division The Big Chester Le Derby Saw The Leonard’s Travel To The Cricket Club, Leonards Got Their Season Up And Running After Two Shaky Defeats.After Playing The Last 10 Or 12 Games With A 3-5-2 System Manager Hornsby Decided To Go Back To 4-4-2. The Game Was Very Even Up Until 30mins When The Cricket Club Were Awarded A Penalty, Which Seemed Very Soft. The Pen Was Scored And Leonards Were Up Against It, However 2 Mins Later Peake Scored A Great Goal To Put The Scores Level. It Was A Sweet Strike With His Weaker Foot From 25 Yards.Into The Second Half And The Game Was Still Very Close, And With Leonards Pushing For A Second Goal Scott Was Pushed In The Back And A Penalty Was Given, Peake Scored From The Spot. Leonards Did Come Under A Lot Of Pressure For The Last 20 Mins But Centre Halfs Shipley And Chad Were Top Class At The Back, But The Drama Was Still To Come. With Only Minutes Left On The Clock The Ref Gave The Cricket Club Another Spot Kick. It Was Left To Choake To Be The Hero Making A Great Save. It Was A Great Game From Two Teams Who Try To Play Football. Chester Leonard’s Thoroughly Deserved Their Win Against A Lacklustre Chester Cricket Club. Framwellgate Moor Salutation Entertained New Brancepeth Wmc .The Salutation Took An Early Lead On The Break After A Couple Of Minutes, Which Seemed To Rally New Brancepeth. They Came Out Of The Blocks After That, And Dominated Possession In The Middle Of The Park. Always Seeming To Have A Man Spare Every Time They Had Possession. They Gradually Got Ahead And With About Ten Mins To Go Till Half Time They Were 5-1 Ahead. The Salutation Pulled A Goal Back Just Before The Break. Hoping That This Would Give Them A Boost. But After Half Time It Was Back To The Norm. Countless Attacks By New Brancepeth Without Much Reply From Salutation, Other Than The Odd Half Chance From Set Pieces. In The End A Convincing Win Of 8-2 From New Brancepeth. Who Were By Far The Better Team On The Day. Langley Park Rams Head Travelled To Quarrington Hill Wmc In A Well Contested Game Between Two Evenly Matched Sides With Q Hill Having The Majority Of The Play But Unable To Make The Possession Count On A Day When Langley Park Scored With Virtually Every Chance They Had. Kelloe Davy Lamp Travelled To Fencehouses Dubmire Wmc A Good Performance From Dubmire Who Started Off Really Well And Took The Lead After 5 Mins When Maddison Was Played Through And He Coolly Placed It Past The Keeper .After 10 Mins Another Through Ball To Parkin And It Was 2 Nil .Parkin Then Added His 2nd Shortly After With A Powerful Shot From The Right Hand Side Of The Area .Jon Jordison Then Converted A Cross To Make It 4 Nil After 20 Mins .Kelloe Came Back Into The Game As Dubmire Tool Their Foot Off The Pedal .Right On Half Time Kelloe Pulled 1 Back To Make It 4-1 .2nd Half Continued With Kelloe Trying To Get Back Into The Game But Dubmire Were Always Looking Dangerous When They Got The Ball .After 60 Mins Parkin Converted His 3rd With A Neat Finish From An Elsdon Pass.5 Mins Later And Jordison Was Put Through By Elsdon And He Obliged With Another Good Finish.Kelloe Got Another Goal From A Dubmire Defenders Mistake To Make It 6-2.Parkin Converted His 4th And Then Made Way For Finch To Come On And Within 2 Mins Finch Had Scored .Finch Then Scored Another 1 On 1 To Make It 9-2 Before Elsdon Got The Goal He Had Deserved.
