Premier Division
Hetton Lyons travelled to Newton Aycliffe Wmc and made hard work of this Premier League Game, it should have been all over in the first half with the chances they had and some great saves from the Aycliffe goalkeeper. Newton Aycliffe were two goals up within the first 23 minutes,  Mark Brischuk on 18 mins with an unstoppable shot from about 15 yards, and then From a corner Aycliffe  made it 2 with a volley from Liam Cooper just outside the box on 22 mins. The Lyons pulled a goal back in the 32nd minute with some good work from Dodd’s and he crossed the ball for Warren Byrne to score (2-1) Lyons hit the post and the crossbar and other chances but couldn't score. The Lyons started the second half with the pressure on the home teams goal and Lewis Dodd’s was unlucky to see his effort scrambled off the line and in the 53rd minute the Lyons drew level with a scrambled goal in the box with Chris Bell getting the final touch (2-2) six minutes later the Lyons took the lead, a corner from the right from Dodd’s to the near post and Carl Beasley got the faintest of touch to claim the goal (2-3). Hetton once again were guilty of not putting the game out of sight with some great chances and Aycliffe were looking for a break to get a goal and in the 90th minute they got it, a shot into the penalty area and the ball hit Beasley's hand and the Aycliffe Striker scored from the penalty (3-3). The home team looked like they had grabbed a point but the Lyons weren't finished and in the 91st minute a great ball from Dodd’s put Bell through and he smashed the ball past the goalkeeper (3-4) a minute later and not to be out done Lewis Dodd’s picked the ball up from midfield beat two defenders then the keeper to score (3-5). Washington JFC entertained Sacriston Cricket Club this the 2nd time in 7 days the clubs have played each Other. The game started end to end with both teams well matched in all departments, The game changed in the favour of JFC when a clever free kick by Vincent beat all and sundry to find its way into the far corner of the goal, 1-0 JFC at halftime, Sacriston probably felt hard done by as they had enjoyed there fair share of the ball. Washington JFC started stronger in the 2nd half and there pressure paid dividends when Miller burst into the Sacriston penalty area and after a great one - two with Laidler saw Miller pass to Cuthbertson who got off the mark for his new club with a well controlled shot passed the Sacriston keeper 2-0 to JFC.With 15 minutes remaining Sacriston came closest to scoring when there midfielder hit a cracker from 25yds just to see Smith JFC’s keeper make a great save tipping the ball over the bar. JFC made 2 substitutions with 15 mins to go Chippa for Tanky and Clarkey for Biff and with 5 minutes to go Biff Grainger arrived at the far post like a shadow in the night to smack home a deflected ball from a corner, full time a 3-0 Wash win for JFC.

Division One

In the First Division Two Goals for James Grey was not enough to prevent Barley Mow inn loosing   3-2 against visitors Gilesgate Moor Hotel.
Langley Park Steelers kept up their promotion hopes with a 4-3 home win over Houghton Mill All Stars. Mill took the lead after only five minutes when a David Jane corner was headed home by Gary Adey. But despite a bright start Mill then folded for the remainder of the first half conceding four goals - two from Michael Nichol including a penalty kick, and a further brace from Kieron Moralee. Mill reduced the deficit ten minutes into the second half when a low cross into the box from Steve Malloy was slotted into the net by Andy Adey and with five minutes remaining a fine Steve Malloy run and shot made it 4-3. In the dying moments of the game both sides were reduced to ten men when Mill keeper Dan Pearson reacted to a rash challenge from Steelers Martin Merren and both players received their marching orders.

Division Two

In the Second Division Lumley Fc‘s first win of the season against visitors West Rainton Fc, was soured by the news that Richard Kay had broken his leg after a 50/50 challenge. Lumley FC   young guns controlled the game & went ahead through Laidler then West Rainton equalised before goals from McKee & Robson put Lumley in control. Rainton pulled one back on the stroke of half time making it 3-2. Leonard’s were quick out of the traps and were a goal to the good within 1st minutes. Brennan volleying home fryers nod down. This lead was extended to 2 before half time through Peakes deflected shot from distance. In truth, it wasn't a very good game and the 2nd half continued the same way. Leonard’s went 3 up 10 minutes from time, substitute Nichols pin point cross headed home expertly by Brennan for his 2nd. Burnmoor then denied Leonard’s the clean sheet, with consolation goal with virtually the last kick. Final score: Leonard’s 3-1 Burnmoor . A great advert for sunday league football with two teams playing good football in a competetive sporting manner overseen by a by a good referee.  New Brancepeth took the lead on ten minutes after a mistake at the back and made it 2-0 after 18 minutes with a good move down the left. Q hill gave themselves a chance scoring just before half time after a superb cross from Lee Carter was smashed in at the far post by Dan Beaney. The second half saw more good football with New Brancepeth missing  a few chances before extending the lead after a fine finish from a wide angle on the left side.  However Q hill continued to press and a double substitution on 70 minutes saw both subs score, Jeff Dean with a speculative shot from 30 yds on the right side and Scott Wilson following in after a save from the keeper to level the score. Either side could have won the game in the last minute but Q Hill's resilience matched New Brancepeths slick passing game.  Another Lively Performance From Q Hill MOM Chris Kane

League Cup Sponsored By Spennymoor Town Fc

In the 4
th round of the league Cup sponsored by Spennymoor FC Pelaw Grange Dogs FC hosted Pittington FC from the same division and Tommy Bulmer the referee had a very good game The game was at a fast pace with both sides showing good touches but it was Pelaw Grange Dogs FC that went ahead by a strike by Paul Curry after some good approach work. This was turned onto the post by the keeper and went in on around 15 minutes of play. Then after around 25 minutes they went 2 nil up when centre forward Chris Hawkins broke clear to make it 2 nil. It was 3 nil 10/15 minutes later when Neil Worley scored. After the interval Paul Curry of Pelaw Grange Dogs Fc was replaced with Daniel Fraterrigo and it looked as if the rest of the midfield were taking a rest with Pittington piling on the pressure and if it wasn't for man of the match Wayne Laws in goal it could have been a different story. Wayne made several fine saves in goal.  Craig Bain was replaced with Kenny Brown during the second half and Pittington also used their substitutes. However as time went on they left gaps at the back and full back David Fleming went round 2 or 3 players before slotting the ball home to make it 4 nil with plenty of support available. Anthony Nicholson also got a run out replacing Neil Worley. Pelton Roab entertained Witton Gilbert Wmc and goals from Kenny Ball, Luke Kerry and Carl Ritchie gave them a hard fought 3-2 win. Then a corner from Dan Pilling was met with a firm header from centre half Lee Peat to net his 7th of the season, 2-0 at half-time. Then a moment of madness from the Washington midfielder who fired insults at the referee resulted in a 2nd yellow and an early bath. The 2nd half Net Park just went through the motions missing several one on ones with the keeper playing very well and single handily keeping the scoreline respectable. Washington never really threatened the Net park goal and the game ended 2-0. Handenhold Bird Inn were 5-2 winners at Durham Garden House.

Chester Cricket Club crashed out of the Competition following a 7 - 2 defeat against visitors Old Shotton Black Bull of the Peterlee League.  The Cricketers found themselves 3-0 down after around half an hour, a combination of good play from the away team and defensive errors gave the Black Bull the best possible start.  Chester CC kept going however, and found a way back into the game shortly before half time when a free kick found Michael Redshaw at the back post who headed the ball back across goal for Darren Redfearn to nod home.  The Cricket Club started the second half strongly and further reduced the deficit shortly after the restart when a deft header from Darren Redfearn after a Phil Forster cross brought the score back to 2-3.  At this point The Cricketers appeared to be getting on top of the game and an equaliser looked imminent until a shot from the edge of the area slipped through the home keeper's hands to gift a 4-2 lead to the Black Bull.  Chester CC never recovered from this despite creating some decent half chances and the Black Bull added a further three goals to secure a fully deserved victory.
