Easy street win Big Chester le Street Derby, In the First Round of the JD Taxis Trophy Chester Easy street entertained Neiboughs Chester Leonards and It was Easy street who progressed to the next round of the cup last Sunday, after a closely fought game with Leonards, the Game ended in a penalty shootout. Leonards started the game well, and enjoyed large spells of possession in the 1st half, and found themselves 2 nil up at half time after 2 very good strikes, both of which slightly fortunate, in both coming back off the woodwork and going in off the keeper. Easy street were on top at the start of the 2nd half, and were level after 2 quick goals, the 1st of which a very good strike. Leonards probably enjoyed the better of the rest of the game and extra time, but couldn’t find the net again result in the shootout.
Easy street was clinical in the shootout and left Leonard’s keeper with little chance on all but 1 penalty which he got a hand to but couldn’t stop. And it was the easy street keeper who was the hero with 2 saves in the shootout. Sedgefield Net Park made the Long Journey to East Rainton
Both sides were evenly matched until Chris Barber broke the deadlock to put Net park 1-0 up at interval.Netpark went on to win the match comfortably with further goals from Turland 2 and Nicky Walker.Ferryhill Dynamos’ Travelled to Quarrington Hill Wmc it what was Definitely a game of two halves, Q Hill took until the second half to get started after being outplayed in the first half conceding 3. The second half was a much needed improvement, with Q Hill coming out 'all guns blazing' and adopting a very attacking mentality scoring the first of 2 goals with a Scott Wilson penalty on 60 minutes and the second from Jeff Dean on 75 minutes. Despite intense pressure in the last 15 minutes, Q Hill couldn't find the equaliser. Lumley Fc entertained Chilton Wmc an Alex Malcolm header gave Lumley fc an early lead only for Chilton wmc to equalise on the stroke of half time. Chilton were aided by the wind in the second half & took the lead only for Sean Henderson to equalise. But Chilton scored a third which proved to be the winner. Houghton Mill All Stars progressed into the next round of the JD Taxi's Guards Cup with a fine 2-0 away win at Pittington. Both Mill goals were Steve Fenn headers - the first after 25 minutesafter some neat work from Kevin Johnston and the second a flying header from a David Hall,cross on the hour mark. Late in the game Pittington had two glorious chances to reduce thedeficit - Mill keeper Gary Adey made a great save only for the ball tofall at the feet of Craig Ruddick who had an empty goal to shoot at but Ruddick some how missed the target.Brian Colledge then blasted over the bar from close range when it lookedeasier to score.Chester Cricket Club made the short Journey to Fence houses to play Dubmire Wmc. Chester CC started well and got an early goal 3 minutes in when a good through ball from Andrew Robinson was finished by Jonathan Haggerty. Chester CC dominated the rest of the half but couldn't find a second goal. The second half saw few chances created as the home team tried but failed to penetrate a strong Cricket Club defence.Coxhoe Wmc were 2-0 Home winners Over Fatfield Biddick Inn.Burnside wmc were 5-1 Home winners Over Burnmoor Jfc. The Chester Osborne entertained Ferryhill Saints FC Chris Winn broke the deadlock in a very scrappy 1st half when he fired home a 35 yard freekick. Andrew Willcock then added a 2nd shortly before half time. The Osborne were comfortable winners after a much improved 2nd half with further goals from Lloyd Mcgee, Chris Winn, Andrew Willcock and Wes Hood
In the League’s Premier Division Washington JFC entertained Langley Park Wmc After just failing to get something from the game against Hetton Lyons Cricket Club last Thursday JFC came out all guns firing and soon took the lead with a great move down the right involving Breezy Miller and Keith Vincent a simple one two resulted in Miller side footing a pass for Joni Hewitt to tap in from 3 yds., 1-0, after that the game was pretty much one sided and further goals from Tank Rousell a header and Breezy Miller ended the half 3-0 JFC. Langley were much stronger in the second half and scored a great header after a telling cross from the right 3-1, Jfc finished the game off with lots of pressure down both flanks and further goals from Lee Proudlock (pen) and Andy (Kenny) Middlemiss made the final result 5-1 to the home team, this game was played in good spirit and Langley Park were a much better side than the score suggested.Kelloe Wmc Travelled to Newton Aycliffe Wmc The first chance fell to Aycliffe after 5 minutes but Woods close range shot was blocked by the keepers legs. After a neat passing move Barton miscued his effort at the Aycliffe goal and the ball was hacked away to safety. The game at this stage was pretty even, before another defensive mistake caused chaos in the aycliffe penalty area. As the first half drew to a close Kelloe were getting on top against an under strength Aycliffe side.
The second half opened in lively fashion with Kelloe's Andrew Soppitt having a shot well saved by Hartley in the Aycliffe goal. Then on 60 minutes a run and cross from Chase McMullen led to Brischuk turning and firing into the bottom corner to give Aycliffe the lead. On 65 minutes Garvin Barton powered in a header to bring Kelloe back level. A spate of substitutions followed. Both sides were having their moments and after a corner in the 76th minute Kelloe scrambled the ball over the line. Ten minutes later Kelloe scored their third with Aycliffe insisting on offside. As in their previous encounter in the cup Aycliffe found themselves more disorganised as the half wore on. And Kelloe ended up 3.1 winners.
Last Seasons Premier League Winners Hetton Lyons Cricket Club Travelled to Ferryhill Wmc A game that certainly wasn't for the purists, a very strong cross wind and a small and bumpy pitch but Hetton had the majority of the possession ,but once again couldn't put their chances away. The Lyons did open the scoring after 12 minutes when some good work on the right hand side from Chris Hughes and squared the ball to Liam Beeston who beat the defender and hit the ball wide of the goalkeeper to make it 0-1.
Chances came in that half for Byrne, Hughes Lawther and Bell but all wide of the goal. Chris Bell did get on the score sheet after 59 minutes when he collected the ball on the half way line on the right hand side he beat two players the shot from 18 yards across the goalkeeper giving him no chance 0-2. The game was over for Ferryhill with Lyons keeping possession of the ball and creating a few chances but everyone was relieved when the full time whistle was blown with the wind getting stronger.
In the Only Game in the 3rd Division Pelaw Grange Dogs got back to winning ways after who was going to referee the game was sorted out. Referee T. Oladunjoye taking the game. David Fleming scored on 20 minutes with a low shot that went under Bowburns keeper David Robinson and into the corner of the net after cutting inside and getting his shot away. Neil Worley went off injured for the Dogs and was replaced by Peter Snowball just before this. There was still nothing in it coming up to half time but a great shot by Paul Curry for Pelaw Grange Dogs was really unlucky when it hit the post and away. After half time David Carter scored for the Pelaw Grange Dogs FC with a fine header on about 60 minutes but then Bowburn pulled one back to make it 2-1. With the wind behind them Bowburn continued to press but left the back open and had some narrow escapes before David Donnelly made it 3-1 for Pelaw Grange Dogs FC. Richard Cull then came on for Craig Bain who was struggling for the last 15 minutes.
