FA Sunday Cup 3rd rd (at Seaham
Red Star FC)
Hetton Lyons Cricket Club FC 3 -0
Northallerton Police
Cup holders Hetton Lyons progressed in
to the 4th round with a good performance and restricting the Yorkshire side
with very few chances. The Lyons almost took the lead in the first minute Nicky
Kane got the better of the full back and took the ball around the goalkeeper
and his shot from an acute angle just went wide. In the ninth minute the
Northallerton goalkeeper pulled off a brilliant save from Lewis Teasdale
and in the 20th minute the Lyons took the lead, a free kick on the left and Craig
Price got the ball over the wall and the goalkeeper couldn't keep it out
1-0. Nicky Kane almost made it 2-0 minutes later with a blistering strike
but credit to the goalkeeper who pushed it over the bar. In the 39th minute the
Lyons did double their lead, a cross on the left from Kane and Lewis
Teasdale gave the goalkeeper no chance. Two nil going in to the break and
the Lyons well on top.
Second half and it was the Lyons
looking the more likely to score and in the 63rd minute Lewis Teasdale
collected a ball on the 18 yard line and his shot beat the keeper 3-0. The
visitors tried the hardest to push for a goal but the Lyons defence gave very
little away.

Chilton lodge 1 v 0 Bishop
Middleham fc
Very entertaining game , middleham dominated from start to finish and without houghtons keeper who played fantastic should have at least went In at half time a couple up , only to go In a goal behind due to a very dubious penalty decision second half was much the same with middleham hitting the crossbar twice .and finding it difficult to get past a keeper on top form Houghton dug in and eventually saw the game through. houghton chilton lodge entertained bishop middleham in the stepy's coaches presidents cup 1/4 final. despite all the recent rain the pitch at leyburn grove houghton was in good condition. the lodge had a 17 man squad with everyone desperate to play due to no game since 11/11/12.
1st half was evenly matched as both teams contested the game well, both sides played some attractive football but failed to find the net early doors. Chilton Lodges keeper defty made 2 important saves one on one to keep his side in the game. around the half hour mark a long kick accurate by defty put the lodge on the counter, young iain macpherson brought the ball down well midway inside the bishop middleham half heading towards goa, macs slide pass into the box had andrew steele running onto it however steele was then chopped down in the box, the referee paul burt pointed to the spot. regular penalty taker gav tate stepped up calmly to slot home . the away side had another chance late on at the back post however a combination of good goalkeeping and defending meant it stayed 1-0 at halftime.
2nd half was just as even as the first with both sides pushing forward looking for a goal. the away side were twice unlucky not to score as they hit the crossbar twice. chilton lodge keeper and man of the match defty pulled off another 2 saves to deny bishop middleham the goal they were looking for. the chilton lodge created chances up the other end but couldnt put the game to bed as they would have liked as it ended 1-0 to the chilton lodge. despite the lack of goals this was a cracking cup tie and a great advert for sunday football. FT 1-0.

Washington JFC 1 V 2 Kelloe wmc
Wjfc entertained Kelloe at their 3G pitch for their 1st game of 2013.
The game saw Kelloe dominate from the start with some lovely football, the movement off the ball was to be admired and this paid dividends when they were awarded a penalty late in the first half Briggs catching the legs of a Kelloe forward running into the box, 1-0 Kelloe H/T, the score would have been much higher if not for some great defending and cracking saves by wjfc`s back line.
The second half was much the same with Kelloe playing some great football and a good move saw their centre forward turn Proudlock and fire into the bottom corner of the net, 2-0 Kelloe in the 70 min. Wjfc never stopped their high work rate and made Kelloe work throughout the whole game and in the end they put enough pressure on the Kelloe right back who`s back pass resulted in a poor touch by the Kelloe keeper sending the ball into an open goal 2-1 80mins, Kelloe saw the game out and in the end deserved their win but wjfc should be proud that they gave then a hard game. In a game where kelloe dominated from the off, JFC struggled to cope with the passing and movement of kelloe. Kelloe dominated possession but were only rewarded when turton was tripped in the area and Barton made no mistake from the spot. JFC rallied and were unlucky when they hit the post but kelloe resumed control with megran and Coates both going close, only denied by the JFC keeper. Into the 2nd half, and kelloe continued to dominate with Ryder wasting 2 guilt edged chances. Kelloe were eventually rewarded when man of the match ward turned his marker superbly and rifled in an unstoppable drive. Kelloe looked like coasting from then on but after a back pass from Irving slipped under goalkeeper johnson's foot for an unlucky own goal, kelloe were under the cosh. But after kelloe missed a few more chances, it was JFC who were glad forthe final whistle for a respectable, 2-1 defeat but the scoteline didn't reflect the ame as a whole.

sedgefield net Park 5 v 1 Houghton Mill
Sedgefield Net Park were 5-1 winners in a division one relegation tussle against Houghton Mill All Stars. The first half was evenly matched at 1-1 - Phillip Bland knocked home a penalty after Mill keeper Chris Johnson had upended Sedgefield's Todd Young and Mill's Luke Clark blasted in the equaliser five minutes before the break. But four second half Sedgefield goals gave the home side three valuable points - Phillip Bland got the second before Mill keeper Johnson gave away a second penalty bringing down Chris Barber who subsequently scored from the spot kick. Alan Jones and another Barber goal sealed the game. First 20 minutes was very sloppy from both sides with no-one getting hold of the game.
Dan Pilling did a worldy overhead kick on 20 minutes that went over the bar by an inch, unfortunately he landed very heavily on this arm. It's broken in 5 places so surgery tomorrow (pins, plates etc) he will be a massive miss to NETPark for the remainder of the season.
On 25 minutes Phil Bland went through on goal, got wiped out by the Houghton keeper. Penalty taken by Blandy to the keepers right 1-0. 30 minutes a ball played into Martin Fields, took down Van Persiesque, slotted into bottom corner. Ref gave offside.

Sacriston WMC 0 v2 East Rainton
In a game which saw East Rainton only have 4 shots on target the score line was slightly harsh. The first goal was scored after a goalkeeper error which allowed to the opposition to score a open goal from 20 yards. Sacriston then had plenty of chances to score but could not but away a chance and with the game in the last minute of the game East Rainton scored again when all the Sacriston players were in the East Rainton box and the ball was cleared and East Rainton had a open goal once again. East Rainton visited Sacrison wmc in what turned out to be a hard fought win for Rainton after a brace of goals from the impresive Jonathon Gaunt, sacrison played some good football without hurting Rainton who battled hard to secure a hard fought 3 points with Anthony Eley and Brian Dowson superb at the heart of East Raintons defence.

Shadforth Plough Inn 1 v 2
Chester Hilda Park
The Plough entertained Hilda Park and were looking to put a stop to a bad run of results, it wasn' to be, Hilda Park took the lead with their only shot of the first half, a free kick from the right corner of the box beat the wall and Price in goal.
Hilda Park double the lead it came from a kick from the keeper which bounced over our defence and was tooked away calmly from their striker, however before this the Plough had a perfectly good goal disallowed, straight away in the second half Moore put Coxon in, he fluffed his shot wide and to the surprise of everyone the referee awarded a corner, Coxon delivered and John Richardson headed home to level the scores however the referee awarded a very soft free kick, it seemed as though he was correcting his previous wrong. With 25 minutes to play Maddox slipped a through ball into the path of Moore he rounded the keeper only to hear the whistle of the referee, he had pulled it back for a freekick, the Plough eventually got one back Moore striking from 20 yards.
On another day it couldv'e easily been 3-2, the visitors restricted to a long ball and a freekick, other then that Price in goal had nothing at all to do. Well after the break it was nice to get a game on particular with the previous weather and against one of the favourites to win the League Shadforth Plough.
Hilda started of very well playing some lovely passing football even Goalkeeper Alex Green and Centre Half Stephen Saville :-)
The break through came 10 min before half time Michael Johnson from 20yds out free kick beat defence and keeper 1-0 to Hilda
The 2npd half Shadforth pressurised to gain equaliser but the ever bubbly Yip kept them busy to break free and make in 2 -0
With less than 5 mins off the game left Shadforth broke through and s order a deserved consolation Goal

9 Pelaw Grange Dogs Fc
Everyone was up for a game after the Christmas and New Year break. Pelaw were on the top from the start but think they must have left their shooting boots at home for the first 30 minutes with efforts blocked over the bar and scuffed. Fortunately they were in no danger and on the half hour went ahead from a corner with Centre back Scott Patterson getting a head to the ball at the near post and for it drop to an umarked Neil Worley who had the simplest of tasks of tapping it in. This then lead to a short goal rush before half time with David Henderson scoring on 39 minutes Michael Mclean on 40 minutes and then Scott Patterson on 44 minutes. After the break Pelaw were completely asleep and a punt forward by their keeper saw a mistake at the back and Sedgefield had suddenly pulled 2 goals back on the 46th and 48th Minutes. This woke the Pelaw Grange Team up and Michael Mclean got his second on 51 minutes volleying the ball in from a corner. and then David Jeffers got one on 69 minutes. Chris Gosnell came on for Paul Mcnally and then a double substitution of Chris Hawkins and Chris Harvey came on for Michael McLean and Josh Donnelly. more goals followed with David Henderson and David Jeffers getting their second on 79 and 82 minutes respectively and Chris Hawkins got on the score sheet with 2 minutes to spare making it 2 - 9 win for the Pelaw Grange Dogs Fc starting the New Year.
Sedgefielld held out for half an hour then Pelaw scored four goals in quick succession leading 4 - 0 at half time. Sedgefield contrived a mini fight back and netted twice at the beginning of the second half to make the score 4 - 2, however, Pelaw went on to control the game and ran out convincing 9 - 2 winners.

Slow start 4-0 down after 20mins, ok middle 5-0 after about 78mins, lacked commitment towards the end 8-0 at 90mins. honest boy controlled the game from start to finish in a game where they won 8 0 with only two goalscorers liam dixon scoring twice and luke macdonald netting six times

Q hill 1 v 2 ReltonTerrace
A good game, Relton taking a 1-0 lead into half time.
Second half and Relton extended the lead to 2-0.
Some good saves from young keeper and MOM Jordan Nicholson meant Q hill were always in the game, and were given hope when Lewis Newton scored 2 mins after coming off the bench. Neither team scored again and Relton were good for the 1-2 win

Game started off well for pity me, who controled the game from the start. But as soon as the home side scored a couple of quick goals the heads of the away side went down and they lost all composure. Leading in a really poor performance where they were just chasing shadows for most of the game, which meant the marking was poor for most of the goals. An easy win for Waldridge all in all.
