In The Premier Division Hetton Lyons Cricket Club returned to League duty and had to work hard for the result today against visitors Langley Park Wmc , very few chances in the first half Warren Byrne saw his shot cleared off the line and a minute later shot wide of the goal. Langley parked nearly took the lead in the 50th minute but a double save from the Lyons goalkeeper Jameson kept them out, a minute later Lyons forward Kyle Davis had a one on one and his shot was saved from the Langley goalkeeper. The Lyons did take the lead in the 74th minute, from a free kick Billy smith headed it down for Warren Byrne to break the deadlock 1-0. Warren Byrne made it 2-0 ten minutes later a thru ball from Price and Byrne picked it up and rounded the keeper to score.Washington JFC welcomed Langley Steelers for this Premier League game. Steelers had the ball in the net first but the ref blew for off-side, shortly after JFC went 1-0 up after a cracking goal by Briggs from 20yds the ball flying into the left hand corner, it was 2-0 when Middlemiss cut in from the left and sent the keeper the wrong way, a mix up in the Steelers Defense allowed Macadam in to nip in and slide the ball home 3-0 H/T to JFC.The 2nd half was scrappy compared to the 1st half Steelers got a goal back in the 65 min, when Harris beat the JFC keeper to the ball slotting the ball over the line, 3-1 JFC, with 20 mins left a good move by Middlemiss down the left saw his cross touched on by Baxter for Stephenson to score at the far post F/T JFC 4-1.Kelloe wmc entertained Washington Chevies In a game, where the chevvies defended well, kelloe squandered numerous chances in the 1st half but eventually got the breakthrough just after half time when an inviting cross from Charlton was met with a bullet header from Hal graham. Kelloe then took charge but couldn't extend the lead, with Soppitt, Megran and Johnson all wasting opportunities, final score 1-0 kelloe wmc. In the First Division Sedgefield Net Park entertained Chilton Wmc.First half was a tight affair but it was Net Park who took a deserved lead though Alan Jones who finished at the second attempt for his first for the club 1-0. Chilton nearly equalized with a cross that skimmed the bar. Second half started with Chilton trying to play and pass the ball more but Netpark were tight in both midfield and defense. On 60mins Net Park were 2-0 up through James Duddin headed from a corner. A few Net park were struggling and Chilton were starting to get more possession without threatening Net park goal. Chilton did have the ball in the net but Chilton substitute handled the ball over the line. Net park made changes and started to gain control of the game then on 80mins Ryan Boardman finished brilliantly to give Net park another much needed 3pts, Final Score 3-0.Coxhoe Wmc were 3-2 winners at Burnside Wmc, Washington Cross Keys won 5-3 at Sedgefield Social Club. In the Second Division Houghton Chilton Lodge registered their first league win since last October in emphatic style beating Esh Winning CC 7-1 today. Ian McPherson opened the scoring after 20 mins shooting in after a goal mouth scramble. The joy of the goal was marred by the injury of defender Adam Summerson in the build up who after a clash of heads received seven stitches a fractured eye socket and cheek bone. Esh Winning equalized five minutes later following a 20 yard shot. 'Chilton then scored three times in eight minutes following a Gavin Tait shot 30 mines, a Craig Johnson header 35 mins, Tait scored his second from a penalty after 38 minutes following a foul on Ian McPherson to make it 1-4 at half time. Goals in the second half by man of the match Jonathon Fox who scored with a 20 yard shot following a free kick on 65 mins, another by Craig Johnston this time a shot from the edge of the area after some great work by Fox. Chester Plough Inn played Ferryhill Saints for the 2nd week running and were looking for revenge after last weeks drubbing. The first half was very tight but it was Ferryhill who broke the deadlock and went in 1 nil up at the interval. The 2nd half Chester Plough upped their game and had the majority of the possession and equalized with a long strike from Ben Lloyd that squirmed under the keeper’s body. The Plough grabbed the winner in the 60th minute when Chris Cuthbert son drilled the ball into the back of the net in a packed goalmouth. The Plough had a number of chances to kill the game off but a combination of good goalkeeping and poor finishing kept the score line down. F/T 2-1New Durham made 5 changes for this league game and after a scrappy start Ouston went in at half time winning 2-0, second half New Durham piled the pressure on and scored 3 winning the game 3-2.Ushaw Moor Cricket Club won 2-0 at Durham Bede Lodge. In the Third Division Pelaw Grange Dogs Fc looked more dangerous from the start at Dubmire Wmc and were having the better chance but failing to put them away but a corner won by Dave Henderson and taken by David Donnelly saw Neil Worley run into the penalty area and head the ball home after 15 minutes. Neil Worley then made it 2 nil for Pelaw Grange Dogs FC with a well taken penalty just before half time with a good hard penalty kick. After the break Dubmire tried to get into the game but Pelaw were still in control and should have gone further ahead with efforts wide of the target from several players. However Dubmire's keeper did make one really good save with a great effort that he tipped over the bar. So Pelaw go top of the table with only a few games left to play and have a home fixture on Tuesday night.Bowburn were 4-0 Home winners over Chester st Cuthberts Social. In the Fourth Division A very lackluster performance from the Ferryhill Dynamo’s gifted the visitors Washington Jays an easy away win. The jays scored two goals in the first half, the second half was a bit of a non-event both teams huffed and puffed but no goals could be found the game finished 0-2In a well contested game it was visitors Washington New Tavern who started brightly and but for some poor finishing should have been 3-0 up inside the first ten minutes. Quarrington Hill after their terrible start eventually got going and took the lead after 20 minutes through Chris Taylor. They extended the lead with another from Dan Beaney, but Washington were still in the game and a spectacular own goal made it 2-1 at half time. Q Hill were much better in the second half and raced to a 4-1 lead with 2 more goals from Man of the Match Dan Beaney before Jeff Dean settled the game, coming off the bench to score with his first touch. Washington never gave up and grabbed a late goal to make the final score 5-2.The Washington Honest Boy traveled to Pity Me ,This was a very feisty game at times but it was pity me that kept there cool and took control of the game. Pity me were very organized at the back and looked dangerous on the attack. Pity Me’s pressure paid off eventually when Brian Innes picked up the ball at the halfway line and played a nice ball for Gareth Bowen to run on to which he then slotted nicely under the keeper. Pity me continued to control the game and just before half time they got a free kick on the edge of the box, Kelvin scorer stepped up and placed the ball beautifully in the back of the net. In the second half pity me became a little sloppy and allowed Washington back in it with a goal. This turned out only to be a consolation goal as pity me switched back on and saw the game out for a win. Langley Park Rams Head lost another league game this time at Home to Bishop Middleham Fc Couple of regulars missing again so knew be up against it again. Bishop started better side and attacked well, but Langley could have scored 2 goals with Tony Rutter and Steven Cummings missing good chances. Bishop then took game to Langley and scored within a minute not long before half time. Second half same story bishop started stronger and scored again after 65minutes, then Langley finally got into game and Steven Cummings tapped ball in to try and get back into game but no more goals and bishop deserved the win 3-1 In the Bishop Auckland Heart Foundation Cup, the semi Finals took place with the League having 3 of the 4 Clubs involved. Newton Aycliffe Wmc traveled to Sedgefield st Edmunds, goals from Liam Parsons and John Cook gave the st Edmunds a 2-1 Home win.In the other Semi final Brandon Sports entertained Darlington DRSM two goals from Gavin Mudd and one from Graeme Stobbs put Brandon into the Final winning 3-1. |
