The Bad weather hit the Leagues Fixture List with Games being cancelled due to Unplayable Fields.
In the Premier Division Current Lead Rae (pen), Byrne ers Hetton Lyons Cricket Club were 2-1 winners at Sacriston Cricket Club, with Goals from Michael Rae (pen)and Warren Byrne Hilda Parks Home Game against Brandon Bay Horse Cancelled due to a Waterlogged Pitch.
In the First Division Seven days after fielding a severely weakened team and being soundly beaten as a result, Sedgefield Black Lion entertained Houghton Mill All-stars in the return Division One fixture determined to get back on winning ways. And so it was to prove, after a hard fought first half played in heavy rain Sedgefield broke the deadlock fifteen minutes into the second half when David Brumpton scored with an acrobatic overhead kick. The second goal came from a corner ten minutes later, when Brumpton flicked on for recent signing Steve Beamson to head over the line. Houghton Mill were always in the game, but never really created a clear cut opportunity finding man of the match James Duddin in commanding form at the back, though they did miss and open goal near the end. Barley Mow Inn were 3-1 winners at Ushaw Moor Cricket Club,
In the Second Division the Only Game was Cancelled due to the Weather Lumley Fc were due to entertain Sherburn Lambton Arms.
In the Third Division Shadforth Plough too Strong for East Rainton FC. After leading the game twice East Rainton lost 6-3.
In the Fourth Division Chester Leonard's Travelled to Dubmire Wmc .Leonard's started well, and were soon 2 up after Zak Scott's fortuitous goal. But after Dubmire WMC pulled 1 back, Jo Nichol restored the 2 goal advantage. Dubmire pulled a goal back IN THE 46 Min. But Leonard's restored the 2 goal advantage again, and although Dubmire Wmc scored in the 80 Min to make it 4-3, Leonard's Hung on till the end to take all 3 points.
In the Alan Smith Memorial Trophy Pelaw Grange Dogs Fc from the 3rd division hosted this fixture against Premier league side Newton Aycliffe WMC FC on a very wet Sunday morning. The pitch looked quite good but as the match went on cut up quite a lot.. In the early stages Pelaw had the better chance with Chris Hawkins being clear and should have done better as the Aycliffe keeper came out quickly and cleared the ball with the help of a defender. However Pelaw were giving Aycliffe far too much respect and allow them to attack and attack and it wasn't long before they scored. At half time it was 3 nil to Aycliffe and Pelaw and looked like scoring. After a half time team talk Pelaw looked the better side again as they passed the ball around but it became 4- 0 before Pelaw made a substitution and David Carter came on. This seemed to change Pelaws efforts especially and they got to back 4-1 then it went to 5-1 but then Pelaw seemed to work up with more of the mid field and wing backs getting forward. This resulted in several efforts on goal which should have made it 5-3 but in the closing minutes with Pelaw pressed forward Aycliffe took advantage to make it 7-1. Durham Garden House won 3-1 at Bishop Middleham Cross Keys; Bowburn Cooperage won 9-2 at The Salutation. Washington Colliery went into today's game Home to Ferryhill Post Boy without manager Barry Davison as he was on a family holiday so assistant Dave Huntley took charge. Ferryhill Post Boy was unbeaten this season and unfortunately they remain unbeaten as they won the game 2-0. In a rain soaked game the two teams tried hard to score and both keepers were tested but the games 1st goal didn't come until the 80th minute when the Ferryhill striker rounded keeper Tom Hallam to score and put them up 1-0. Colliery tried hard to get an equaliser but to no avail, Ferryhills 2nd was a brilliant finish, the striker cutting in from the left to smash it into the top corner to grab Ferryhill's and his 2nd goal. Ferryhill went away 2-0 winners a score line which flattered the victors a little.
In the third round of the League Cup sponsored by Spennymoor Town the Washington Arms were knocked out By visitors Bede Lodge Social the Scores level after 120 Mins Bede Lodge winning the Penalty Shoot Out. The Arms open the scoring with a fine chip over the keeper by Chris Morrison after ten minutes but despite dominating the remainder of the game fail to capitalise mainly thanks to a man of the match display from Bede keeper Andrew Neill. Mid way through the second half Nicky Barker equalisers with a header to take the game into extra time. The Arms continue to create chances but keeper Neill keeps them at bay and the game is settled with a penalty shoot. Neill is again the hero and saves two of the spot kicks to see Bede Lodge through 4-2. In A game played played in horrendous conditions on a very heavy pitch Sedgefield Net Park entertained Chester Cricket Club. It was Net Park Who took an early lead through Stephen Turland. Then a 5 minute spell of individual mistakes and Goals from Andy Summers, Darren Redfearn and John Sexton let Chester Cricketers take a 3-1 lead.Netpark needed to score the next goal which they did through the prolific Chris Barber, Stephen Turland then added a second for Net Park to make It 3-3 at the interval. Nicky Walker then scored a fantastic strike from 20 yards 4-3 to give Net Park the lead. Net Park then dominate the game and added another two goals through Dan Pilling and Chris Barber 6-3. A last minute handball gave Chris Barber the opportunity to grab a hat-trick; Chris kept his nerve and finished well. 7-3 to Net Park and into the next round. Round. Chester Plough entertained New Durham Wmc, the Ploughs only came from a well delivered cross from Ben Lloyd was converted by Joel Baddams. A fine finish with the right foot from 18 yards out. As New Durham were 4-1 winners. In the Washington Derby the Victoria were 3-1 Home winners over the Lambton Village.
Chester Osborne Wmc Travelled to Burnside Wmc, to play in the JD Taxis Trophy, Osborne took the lead early on when Wes Hood was in the right place after the keeper parried from Chris Winn. Burnside Wmc found themselves level ten minutes; Burnside continued to look the strongest and went on to win 3-1 deservedly.Coxhoe wmc were 1-0 Home winners Over Gilesgate Moor Hotel. Langley Park Steelers ended up victors in this second round tie ,Up against a strong, in form New Brancepeth Wmc side the visitors fell behind to a 2 minute Craig Hindmarch goal that put New Brancepeth in the driving seat. This did not deter the Steelers as they went on to win 3-1 with first goals of the season for the captain Kieron Moralee on 6 minutes with a close range header and midfielder Liam Bowes with a 35 yard thunderbolt in the 23rd minute. Michael Nichol sealed the win with a fine header for the third from a Liam Burn cross on 72 minutes. The drenched supporters from both sides agreed that it was a fine game to watch in such horrible conditions.
In the Bishop Auckland Heart Foundation Trophy in the Preliminary Round Ferryhill Saints were 6-1 Home winners Over Bishop Auckland Cumberland, In an all League Tie Houghton Comrades were 6-1 winners at Ferryhill Dynamoes.Framwellgate Moor Wmc lost 2-0 at Crook Town Sunday.Ferryhill Wmc were 4-1 Home winners over Spennymoor Salvins.In the first round of the Competition, It was a repeat of last years semi final as Kelloe Wmc entertained Sedgefield St Ed's. Kelloe scored first after 15 mins when Lee Peachey struck a 35 yard screamer to hit the top corner only to concede 5 mins later when Sedgefield broke quick. Stephen Caruthers then crossed on 35 mins for Gavin Barton to beat the keeper in the air and score with his head. After the break Kelloe scored from the kick off as Gavin Barton was put through and finished well. Barton then scored with a back heel for his hat trick. The front man then scored another 2 goals to finish with five for the game as Kelloe won 6 - 1. Pelton ROAB entertained a Very Strong Ferryhill Celtic, In the 3 min a ball from Keith Lines led to a goalmouth scramble. Carl Ritchie made no mistake with a textbook headed finish from close range.10 Mins later The ball flew in from close range and went down as an own goal by the opposition, with an assist by Anthony Davison. To make it 2-0 to Pelton.Then on 35 min some good work from Ross Robson led to an opposition error. Luke Kerry took advantage by scoring a tremendous right footed goal from 18 yards out. 5 Mins Later Pelton Increased their Lead A great strike from 25 yards from Paul Freeman The Celtic scored two quick Goals to make it 4-2 then on 67 min - Ryan Drummand is fouled in the box, and Luke Kerry slotted home with a textbook right footed finish. Celtic added a Further Goal to make the Final score 5-3 to Pelton. Chilton Wmc were away to Etherly Dog&Gun and took the lead in the 35th min when Dean .Taylor scored from 20yds over the keepers head. The same player scored again 2 mins later from the penalty spot when he was brought down in the box. It was end to end stuff with few chances going begging,Etherly pulled one back in the 88th min when the full-back scored from a corner with a firm header.
