Owen Hits four for Aycliffe

By
Groundhopper

PREMIER Divison
In the Premier Division Langley Park Wmc Travelled to Newton Aycliffe Wmc, There was little to choose between the sides in the early exchanges, and both sides created a couple of good chances. After 25 minutes a long ball into the Langley box created havoc and ended with a defender slicing the ball into his own net. Five minutes later a neat one two between Mason and Brischuk led to Brischuck rolling the ball into the net. Pressure began to mount on the Langley defence, and right on half time Wright managed to force the third home from close range. The second half belonged to Aycliffe winger Stuart Owen who scored four times, the second being a penalty, which resulted in a Langley defender being shown the red card. After being reduced to ten men Langley were under constant pressure and McMullen also grabbed a goal to make the final score 8-0.Sedgefield st Edmunds Travelled to Washington JFC, the First meeting between the two sides. Two second half goals from Andrew Beamson and Paul Cleary, gave st Edmunds a fine 2-0 away win.Sacriston Cricket Club and visitors Brandon Bay Horse shared the Points in a 1-1 Draw.

DIV 1

The Washington Arms bounced back from lasts Weeks County Cup hammering to give Sedgefield Black Lion a 9-0 mauling in the Division One encounter at Glebe Park. David Lyall opened the floodgates after ten minutes after which the goals flowed, man of the match Craig Smith netting two as did Danny Murray, Chris Morrison scored before making way for substitute Carlo Barrass who promptly went on to score a hat-trick.Ushaw Moor Cricket Club entertained Sacriston Wmc, It was Fairly even for the first 10 min until Sacriston had to make a sub due to a injury .Sacristons defence had to put up with a barrage of long balls from Ushaw Moor and nearly conceded a Goal midway through the 1st half. Ushaw Moor had a corner and one of their players came in unmarked at the back post only to head against the underside of the bar, the ball bounced on the line and was then cleared, the Ushaw Moor players appealed for a goal but it was not given. Sacriston continued to create chances with Davey Wardle working hard in Sacriston midfield Sacriston scored with after a goalmouth scramble just before Half Time with Wardle poking the ball home. 1-0 at half time Ushaw Moor made a sub in the second half and their looked a lot more dangerous, only solid defending from the Sacriston back four stopped them from equalising, Ushaw Moor kept pressing and forced a error from Gary Varty to allow the striker through on goal, he slotted it past the oncoming keeper to make it 1-1.
Sacriston kept wasting chances but finally Ben Sanderson scored a trademark goal, beating the offside trap he was left one on one with the goalkeeper, he put the ball in the corner to make it 2-1.
Sacriston should have scored a 3rd with good play down the right wing, the ball was squared and Aaron White only had to pass it in to an empty net but somehow he managed to miss the ball!!
Final Result: Ushaw Moor 1-2 Sacriston WMC Barley Mow Inn travelled to Langley Park to play the Steelers, Steelers FC were 3 goals to the better in this 11 goal thriller. A game not recommended for the faint hearted but a huge spectacle for the neutral could have gone either way until mid way through the second half. A hat trick for Adam Malekpour and a brace to Kieron Moralee for the second week running with Jamie Clifford and Liam Burn who scored his first for the club being enough to see off the visitors. Barley Mow Striker Ryan Moore Hitting a Hat Trick and Barley skipper Neil Evans scoring for the opposition, Final score 7-4 to the Steelers. The old clich 'a game of two halves' certainly applied to Houghton Mill All Stars home league division one match with neighbours Burnside WMC. Mill were much the better side throughout the first half and three David Hall goals gave Mill a 3-0 half time lead - Hall's second goal was a joy to watch as he lobbed the ball over the Burnside defence on the half way line before running at goal, rounding keeper Chris Wilson and firing the ball into an empty net. Whatever Burnside's Manager Brett Cummings said to his team mates at half time worked wonders as Burnside started the second half much the livelier team as they netted two goals within two minutes of the restart. Cummings himself scored the first and Carl Finch the second. On seventy five minutes Burnside's Jon Caris had a shot at goal from twenty yards out and the ball deflected off the heel of Mill's Scot Watson to deceive keeper Pearson for a cruel but well deserved equaliser.

DIV 2
Sedgefield Net Park played their worst 45mins of football all season against visitors Pelton Fc; it was Pelton Fc took full advantage by notching four goals in the first 30mins. Credit to Pelton some of the goals were very well worked with their two forwards causing a lot of problems, for Net parkH/T 4-0 ,Net park came out to salvage some pride and played much better. A strong run by Andrew Shepherd resulted in a high ball that Dan Pilling got a touch before the keeper to give Net park hope 4-1. Net Park piled the pressure on but the Pelton keeper and mom Jip were up for the challenge. Lines finished well after 70mins to give Net Park a chance 4-2. Chris Barber had a great chance to score Net parks 3rd but the keeper saved brilliantly if that had gone in who knows but credit to Pelton they held on to take all 3 points. Chilton Wmc were 8-0 winners at Lumley Fc and Chester Plough Inn were 7-4 Home winners over West Rainton Fc

DIV 3
Shadforth entertained top of the league Pelaw Grange dogs, knowing a win would see them just one point behind the leaders.Shadforth came into this game of the back of two great league wins against other promotion contenders, East Rainton & New Durham WMC. The Plough started 3 5 2, And took the lead in the first half with a great team goal, Martin Denney was played in down the right hand-side after a great bit of build up play, Dan McCaffery made a late burst into the box to grab his fourth of the season with a well placed volley into the far top corner. The visitors were level within a matter of minutes, with a shot from David Donnelly on the edge of the box rattled the shins of Richard Scott then hit of Jack Moore and bobbled into the back of the net. The Plough regained the lead from the spot, Stephen Maddox jinxed through five challenges on the edge of the box and threaded a neat ball trough to Stu Coxon, who was took out from behind the ref give the kick. Moore stepped up to convert confidently. Half Time 2 1, The second half got under way and it would get better for the centre half Moore, he started the move off and ran through into the box and was un marked, Dan Hall crossed and found Moore who had the simple task of nodding beyond a helpless keeper, Moore would get the 4 and his hat-trick, we went forward for a corner and the ball dropped to his left foot and finished emphatically, a perfect hat-trick, one with the right, one with the head and one with the left. The Plough looked comfortable and were good for their 3 points and deserved them, The Plough were without four regular players this season, but the lads proved we really do have a great squad this term.Full Time 4 1. New Durham Wmc won 5-0 at Houghton Chilton Lodge. It was back to the bread and butter of the league after good performances in cup ties in the previous 2 weeks as Witton Gilbert Wmc entertained Bishop Middleham Cross Keys.Witton started brightly enough and for the first 25 minutes had the majority of the game but failed to gain any advantage and suffered a sucker punch when Bishop went one up in their first meaningful attack. It took Witton a while to gain composure but came back into it when Scott Embleton smashed a 25 yard dive into the net to level the scores up. Just before half time Bishop Middleham went further ahead .In the second half Witton went further behind with 26 minutes left. David Callcutt was sent on as a Sub for Witton to try and get them back into the game, it paid off as he crashed in Wittons second from 10 yards out. But Bishop Middleham Fought back and added two quick Goals to make it 2-4, in a frantic last 10 minutes Callcutt got another goal for Witton. Witton then missed a great opportunity to level things up when Callcutts near post shot was dragged wide. Scott Embleton then missed another great chance when his header went wide in the last Minute of the Game to make the Final score 4-3 to the visitors.

DIV 4
Kelloe Davy Lamp Travelled to Framwellgate Moor to play the Salutation, the Davey Lamp started the game very quick and got a goal within the first couple of minutes from a ball through the defence. Salutation gradually clawed themselves back in to the game and played some very good one and two touch passing through the middle of the park, with Anthony Bussey and Liam Maddox controlling things. A ball in from the right saw Hughes slide in and get an equaliser which put the Salutation on the front foot and Bowen then got another goal with a right foot finish in to the corner after another ball in from the right. All Davy Lamps threats were coming from balls over the top and the Salutation got caught out twice in succession trying to play the offside trap and kelloe took their tally to 3. Another goal a piece from a Hughes and then Bowen saw the Salutation take a 4-3 lead in the second half. Davy lamp then pushed an extra man forward trying to get an equaliser, which came shortly after that from a comer kick that wasnt cleared at the near post and was stabbed home to make it 4-4. It was then all hands to the pump for a few mines as Kelloe piled forward, but the Salutations better passing started to tell and more chances began to be created. Smith missing from close range from a low shot that the keeper saved, then Anthony Bussey grabbed his first of the game. A tap in at the far post after great work from Hughes to take his man on and cross from the left. Bowen then completed his hat trick after another ball from the wide area, this time from the right by Hughes and after a great dummy by Bussey; Bowen had all the time in the world to slot it past the keeper. Anthony Bussey finished off the scoring and grabbed his second of the game by chasing a long ball down the left, cutting in and beating two men before shooting past the keeper at the far post. A deserved win for the salutation 7-4, New Brancepeth Wmc were 4-1 winners at Durham Garden House. Chester Leonards recorded a 4th win on the bounce as they entertained Ferryhill Dynamos, thanks to a late winner from captain Nichol. In what was a poor game, Leonards went behind,. Then Leonards equalised all most instantly through new striker Wilkinson. Then the winner came late on from the skipper. Full time. Leonards 2-1 dynamosALAN SMITH TROPHY
Chester Cricket Club Travelled to Fatfield Biddick Inn, the Cricketers, for large parts, they were the better team and produced another good performance against higher division opposition. Fatfield took an early lead when a debatable foul on a clearing defender went unpunished; the ball fell to a Fatfield midfielder who struck home from distance. Despite this setback, The Cricketers gradually regained confidence and enjoyed long spells of attacking possession without ever having the cutting edge to find an equaliser, going in at half time only a goal down but looking the better team. Chester CC tried to continue where they left off at the beginning of the second half; the home side extend their lead to 3-0. The Cricketers managed to pull a goal back shortly after through Michael Redshaw, the big centre half nodding home at the back post, but with Chester CC pushing for more goals, Fatfield Biddick wrapped up the game with another two goals. Credit to Fatfield Biddick Inn who took their chances when they came along in an enjoyable cup game played in the right spirit. A Hat trick from Callum Hopps and a David Lowther Goal seal an East Rainton Fc 4-2 win over Dubmire WMCPelton ROAB Travelled to Ferryhill Post Boy, Pelton tacking the Lead on 11 mins, converted from outside the area with a right footed finish; it was a superb individual goal which Kenny Ball wont forget! The move started with some clever play from Anthony Davison. Then on 24 Mins Ryan Drummand fired home from 18 yards out with a well-finished left foot goal, following a cross from Michael Graver. To Give Pelton a 2-0 lead in the second Half on 67 min a well delivered corner from Anthony Davison was converted by Paul Freeman. A textbook finish with the head from close range, then Pelton completed the scoring in the. 73 min Ryan Drummand fired home from close range with a clinical left foot goal, following a cross from Michael Graver. To give them a 4-0 win.

LEAGUE CUP
In the League Cup Sponsored by Spennymoor Town Fc the big game of the day was the Local Derby Kelloe WMC entertained rivals Coxhoe WMC in the 3rd round of the Competition. Kelloe started the brightest and forced the play, Kieran Megran hitting the bar early on from a free kick. Kelloe then broke through Stuart Thompson who crossed for Jonathan Hare to finish. Kelloe then dominated possession and had other chances to extend the lead before half time. After the break Kelloe's superior fitness started to tell and made numerous chances before Kieran Megran crossed for Gavin Barton to head home to make it 2 - 0. Coxhoe had a couple of half chances before Paul Broom slotted home foe a consolation goal making it 2 - 1 with 10 minutes left. Kelloe pressed forward and should have extended their lead but missed again numerous chances. Chester Osborne wmc played host to Bowburn Cooperage, an early penalty award to the Osborne was taken by Nathan Barrels the Cooperage Keeper making a Brilliant save, shortly after Bowburn Cooperage took the lead. The Osborne levelled through Nathan Burrell who played the ball superbly through the defence and ran on to take the ball around the Cooperage keeper and turn it in, The Osborne then went on to take the lead with Glen Taylor scoring from a Lloyd McGee pass. The Osborne sat back and it was Bowburn who went in 3-2 up at the interval. The Osborne made changes and never looked back, Chris Winn came out of goal and obliged with a hatrick in fifteen minutes, 2 goals from Paul Botcherby and 1 each from Andrew Willcock and substitute Michael Toon saw them through to the next round 9-4 winners.Gilesgate Moor Hotel were 4-0 Home winners over Durham Bede Lodge. 3rd division Framwellgate Moor Wmc faced the daunting task of playing against probably the best side in England Hetton Lyons Cricket Club at Murton, the Lyons Cricket Club making five changes from last week, The Lyons Got off to a great start 3 minutes had gone and Warren Byrne was upended in the box and Keith Graydon scored from the penalty spot. Daniel Moore made it 2-0 after 15 minutes when a cross from Ainsley that beat the keeper and Moore slotted the ball in to the net,22 minutes gone and good work down the right hand side from Lawther and his cross was put into the net from the Fram defender 3-0. Chris Bell made it 4-0 after 35 minutes with a great run, when his first shot was saved but he made sure the rebound went into the back of the net. Five minutes before the break and a brilliant ball from Johnny Butler that split the defence open like a can of sardines and Keith Graydon ran on to it and smashed the ball in to the net half time 5-0.The Lyons kept the pressure up in the second half and Warren Byrne deservedly got his goal in the 47th minute with some good work in the penalty area then beating the keeper 6-0. Lowther got his first of the game when Beasley set him up with a great pass in which Lowther made no mistake to make it 7-0 with 58 minutes gone. Two minutes later and a great run from Bell and his pass to Canavan his shot hit the post and Lowther was there to poke the ball home to make it 8-0. Michael Canavan made it 9-0 (65 mins) when the Fram defenders failed to clear the ball and his shot gave the keeper no chance. The Lyons played some good football and with some big games coming up no one wants to be left out also full credit to the Framwellgate Moor players for never stop trying for the 90 minutes and especially there keeper David Passmore who made some brilliant saves.

PRESIDENTS TROPHY
In the 2nd Round of the Presidents Trophy , this A game, where first half Quarrington Hill wmc struggled to get to grips with the opposition Ferryhill Saints who were 4 - 0 up at half time through some generous play and a couple of well worked goals. Second half was a much more even affair, Quarrington hill getting one with a well taken Dan Beaney penalty but Ferryhill extending the lead late on. Man of the Match was Alex Clewes who was outstanding in the middle of the park committing to every tackle and playing some neat football throughout.. Waterhouses were 5-2 Home winners over Chester Easystreet Fc, Washington Honest Boy Entertained Washington Colliery in the Big Washington Derby .The weather made for tricky conditions and The Honest Boy were down to the bare bones missing 4 or 5 first team players but it was The Boy who started the brightest with Martin Fishwick hitting the post after only five minutes and stringing together some nice passing moves against derby rivals Washington Colliery. Five minutes later The Honest Boy did take the lead with Andy Thompson passing a ball forward to Nathan Varty on edge of the box; Nathan turned and struck a low drive into the bottom left corner. After that Washington Colliery started to come back into the game and Mark Boundy had to react well to block a low drive from the angle with his legs. From Mark's save the ball broke to Lee Simpson who played an incisive long pall (he booted it up the pitch) for Andy Thompson to run on to, he broke into the box and was brought down by The Colliery's Centre half for a penalty. Dean Sinclair Stepped up to take the penalty but the keeper read it and did well to get across and palm it away. This seemed to spur The Colliery on and they were unlucky not to score when a deep cross to the back post was volleyed against the post With Johnny Gaunt clearing the rebound away. Soon after the Boy were two-nil up after Varty, usually a right back but making a rare appearance up front, pounced on a Sinclair shot which held up in a boggy goalmouth to put it in from 2 yards. Shortly after that Varty returned the favour leaving Sinclair with the easiest of finishes. 3-0 HALF TIME Colliery started off the better of the two teams in the second half and Boundy had to go full length to keep out a long range strike that seemed to be heading for the top corner. From the resulting corner The Colliery did make it 3-1 after a looping cross that Boundy lost in the sun dropped onto the forward who was all on his own and he headed it into the top corner. The Colliery then pushed on and Boundy tipped over a fierce volley from the edge of the box and Simpson and Gaunt had to stand strong against a barrage of long balls. The Colliery nearly got back into the match after getting a second goal, the ball holding up in the same boggy goalmouth as assisted the Boy in the first half for their lad to square it and an easy finish from 3 yards. Honest Boy then made a change bringing off Varty and introducing Duff. The managerial masterstroke paid off soon after when Taylor played a ball inside from the left for Duff who let the ball run across his body and hit a sweet strike with his right foot that left the keeper with no chance. It wasnt long before it was 5-2, Taylor sliding a ball through for Tullis who produced a delightful chip from 25 yards that once again, left the keeper with no chance. The game was wrapped when Taylor who made no mistake from all of 1 yard. 6-2 to the Honest Boy who progress to the next round but special mention goes to the referee who tried to let the game flow in tricky conditions and The Colliery lads who we wish well until we play them in the league later this season.Washington Victoria Travelled to Langley Park to play the Rams Head. The game kicked off and after Both Teams settled down with the Victoria having the better of the chances; Steve Wilson went close as did Lee Munro. The deadlock was broken after 15 Mins , Steven Douglas slid the ball through to Mark Liddle who pushed it past the 'keeper only to be brought down and the referee awarded the penalty. Liddle hit it firmly into the top corner for 1-0. Not long after, Tom Hunt had a chance from a corner, his header flashed wide of the post. The Victoria scored a second not much later though, Wilson driving in a cross which seemed to change direction in the air and surprised everyone by clipping the post and nestling in the back of the net. It remained 2-0 until half time. Second half Langley only tests Talbot in goal once, which he saved really well down low to his left. The Victorias 3rd came from a corner, Lee Charlton nipping in to side foot home from close range. By now we were comfortable, but we still pushed for more. Steven Wilson was a constant threat down the right, and Langley tried pretty much everything to stop him, while Mickey Dowson was also getting the better of his marker, only to be fouled constantly as Langley resorted to kicking people instead of the ball. The Victoria got a 4th with 5 minutes remaining; Douglas skinned his marker in midfield before putting Kindon through on goal, who curled it into the top corner for the goal of the game. 4-0 and through to the next round,

Premier Division
Hetton Lyons travelled to Newton Aycliffe Wmc and made hard work of this Premier League Game, it should have been all over in the first half with the chances they had and some great saves from the Aycliffe goalkeeper. Newton Aycliffe were two goals up within the first 23 minutes,  Mark Brischuk on 18 mins with an unstoppable shot from about 15 yards, and then From a corner Aycliffe  made it 2 with a volley from Liam Cooper just outside the box on 22 mins. The Lyons pulled a goal back in the 32nd minute with some good work from Dodd’s and he crossed the ball for Warren Byrne to score (2-1) Lyons hit the post and the crossbar and other chances but couldn't score. The Lyons started the second half with the pressure on the home teams goal and Lewis Dodd’s was unlucky to see his effort scrambled off the line and in the 53rd minute the Lyons drew level with a scrambled goal in the box with Chris Bell getting the final touch (2-2) six minutes later the Lyons took the lead, a corner from the right from Dodd’s to the near post and Carl Beasley got the faintest of touch to claim the goal (2-3). Hetton once again were guilty of not putting the game out of sight with some great chances and Aycliffe were looking for a break to get a goal and in the 90th minute they got it, a shot into the penalty area and the ball hit Beasley's hand and the Aycliffe Striker scored from the penalty (3-3). The home team looked like they had grabbed a point but the Lyons weren't finished and in the 91st minute a great ball from Dodd’s put Bell through and he smashed the ball past the goalkeeper (3-4) a minute later and not to be out done Lewis Dodd’s picked the ball up from midfield beat two defenders then the keeper to score (3-5). Washington JFC entertained Sacriston Cricket Club this the 2nd time in 7 days the clubs have played each Other. The game started end to end with both teams well matched in all departments, The game changed in the favour of JFC when a clever free kick by Vincent beat all and sundry to find its way into the far corner of the goal, 1-0 JFC at halftime, Sacriston probably felt hard done by as they had enjoyed there fair share of the ball. Washington JFC started stronger in the 2nd half and there pressure paid dividends when Miller burst into the Sacriston penalty area and after a great one - two with Laidler saw Miller pass to Cuthbertson who got off the mark for his new club with a well controlled shot passed the Sacriston keeper 2-0 to JFC.With 15 minutes remaining Sacriston came closest to scoring when there midfielder hit a cracker from 25yds just to see Smith JFC’s keeper make a great save tipping the ball over the bar. JFC made 2 substitutions with 15 mins to go Chippa for Tanky and Clarkey for Biff and with 5 minutes to go Biff Grainger arrived at the far post like a shadow in the night to smack home a deflected ball from a corner, full time a 3-0 Wash win for JFC.

Division One

In the First Division Two Goals for James Grey was not enough to prevent Barley Mow inn loosing   3-2 against visitors Gilesgate Moor Hotel.
Langley Park Steelers kept up their promotion hopes with a 4-3 home win over Houghton Mill All Stars. Mill took the lead after only five minutes when a David Jane corner was headed home by Gary Adey. But despite a bright start Mill then folded for the remainder of the first half conceding four goals - two from Michael Nichol including a penalty kick, and a further brace from Kieron Moralee. Mill reduced the deficit ten minutes into the second half when a low cross into the box from Steve Malloy was slotted into the net by Andy Adey and with five minutes remaining a fine Steve Malloy run and shot made it 4-3. In the dying moments of the game both sides were reduced to ten men when Mill keeper Dan Pearson reacted to a rash challenge from Steelers Martin Merren and both players received their marching orders.

Division Two

In the Second Division Lumley Fc‘s first win of the season against visitors West Rainton Fc, was soured by the news that Richard Kay had broken his leg after a 50/50 challenge. Lumley FC   young guns controlled the game & went ahead through Laidler then West Rainton equalised before goals from McKee & Robson put Lumley in control. Rainton pulled one back on the stroke of half time making it 3-2. In the second half Robson converted a penalty before Clawson struck home a free kick giving Lumley a fine 5-2 victory.Pelton Fc were 6-1 home winners over Washington Lambton Village.Bede Lodge lost 5-1 at Sherburn Lambton Arms.

Division Three

In the Only game in the 3
rd Division Bow burn Cooperage were 5-0 winners over Visitors Bishop Middleham Cross Keys.

Division Four

In the Third Division Chester Leonard’s won for a third consecutive week and the 2nd week in a row against visitors Burnmoor JFC. Leonard’s were quick out of the traps and were a goal to the good within 1st minutes. Brennan volleying home fryers nod down. This lead was extended to 2 before half time through Peakes deflected shot from distance. In truth, it wasn't a very good game and the 2nd half continued the same way. Leonard’s went 3 up 10 minutes from time, substitute Nichols pin point cross headed home expertly by Brennan for his 2nd. Burnmoor then denied Leonard’s the clean sheet, with consolation goal with virtually the last kick. Final score: Leonard’s 3-1 Burnmoor . A great advert for sunday league football with two teams playing good football in a competetive sporting manner overseen by a by a good referee.  New Brancepeth took the lead on ten minutes after a mistake at the back and made it 2-0 after 18 minutes with a good move down the left. Q hill gave themselves a chance scoring just before half time after a superb cross from Lee Carter was smashed in at the far post by Dan Beaney. The second half saw more good football with New Brancepeth missing  a few chances before extending the lead after a fine finish from a wide angle on the left side.  However Q hill continued to press and a double substitution on 70 minutes saw both subs score, Jeff Dean with a speculative shot from 30 yds on the right side and Scott Wilson following in after a save from the keeper to level the score. Either side could have won the game in the last minute but Q Hill's resilience matched New Brancepeths slick passing game.  Another Lively Performance From Q Hill MOM Chris Kane

League Cup Sponsored By Spennymoor Town Fc

In the 4
th round of the league Cup sponsored by Spennymoor FC Pelaw Grange Dogs FC hosted Pittington FC from the same division and Tommy Bulmer the referee had a very good game The game was at a fast pace with both sides showing good touches but it was Pelaw Grange Dogs FC that went ahead by a strike by Paul Curry after some good approach work. This was turned onto the post by the keeper and went in on around 15 minutes of play. Then after around 25 minutes they went 2 nil up when centre forward Chris Hawkins broke clear to make it 2 nil. It was 3 nil 10/15 minutes later when Neil Worley scored. After the interval Paul Curry of Pelaw Grange Dogs Fc was replaced with Daniel Fraterrigo and it looked as if the rest of the midfield were taking a rest with Pittington piling on the pressure and if it wasn't for man of the match Wayne Laws in goal it could have been a different story. Wayne made several fine saves in goal.  Craig Bain was replaced with Kenny Brown during the second half and Pittington also used their substitutes. However as time went on they left gaps at the back and full back David Fleming went round 2 or 3 players before slotting the ball home to make it 4 nil with plenty of support available. Anthony Nicholson also got a run out replacing Neil Worley. Pelton Roab entertained Witton Gilbert Wmc and goals from Kenny Ball, Luke Kerry and Carl Ritchie gave them a hard fought 3-2 win. An even contest for the first thirty minutes at Sedgefield were Net Park entertained Washington Honest Boy, with not many goal scoring chances in the First Half. Then Net Park broke the deadlock when an Honest Boy defender pulled back Martin Broom resulted in a penalty which Nicky Walker finished to put Net Park In Front 1-0.
Then a corner from Dan Pilling was met with a firm header from centre half Lee Peat to net his 7th of the season, 2-0 at half-time. Then a moment of madness from the Washington midfielder who fired insults at the referee resulted in a 2nd yellow and an early bath. The 2nd half Net Park just went through the motions missing several one on ones with the keeper playing very well and single handily keeping the scoreline respectable. Washington never really threatened the Net park goal and the game ended 2-0. Handenhold Bird Inn were 5-2 winners at Durham Garden House.

Chester Cricket Club crashed out of the Competition following a 7 - 2 defeat against visitors Old Shotton Black Bull of the Peterlee League.  The Cricketers found themselves 3-0 down after around half an hour, a combination of good play from the away team and defensive errors gave the Black Bull the best possible start.  Chester CC kept going however, and found a way back into the game shortly before half time when a free kick found Michael Redshaw at the back post who headed the ball back across goal for Darren Redfearn to nod home.  The Cricket Club started the second half strongly and further reduced the deficit shortly after the restart when a deft header from Darren Redfearn after a Phil Forster cross brought the score back to 2-3.  At this point The Cricketers appeared to be getting on top of the game and an equaliser looked imminent until a shot from the edge of the area slipped through the home keeper's hands to gift a 4-2 lead to the Black Bull.  Chester CC never recovered from this despite creating some decent half chances and the Black Bull added a further three goals to secure a fully deserved victory. The Plough then kept it tight and tried to keep hold of the ball. Collingwood would make a few more great saves before the game was over.

In the Fourth Division Framwellgate Moor Salutation entertained Durham Garden House Both teams missed penalty chances in the early stages of the game. Garden House then capitalised on a poor clearance to go 1-0 ahead. Not long after the Garden House conceded a free-kick on the edge of their 18yd box.Bussey drove the ball hard and low into the box, centre-back Hodgson hammered the ball home to level the score. Garden went 2-1 up when Steven Gardener finished from close range, only to see Salutations Andy Marshall score a cracking volley from 35yds. A scrappy first half ended even. Salutation started the second half much the better side and pulled ahead when a low Bussey cross was turned in at the front post by Gareth Bowen. The home side had plenty of chances to finish the game but didn’t manage to do so. Garden House rallied in the latter part of the game and finished the stronger side, only to lose 3-2. Chester Leonard’s travelled to Burnmoor JFC, IN a Hard Fought Game they were rewarded with 5-3 win. Burnmoor probably had the better of the opening exchanges, but Leonard’s took the lead with a brilliant finish from new signing Aaron Wilkinson. But Burnmoor fought back against a weary looking Leonard’s and Leonard’s were 2-1 down at half time. Leonard’s were much better 2nd half with Brennan in particular dominating the game. And everyone including the subs played there part in a good 5-3 wins. Washington Colliery entertained Quarrington Hill wmc despite the score line a very good game of football. Colliery were the far better team in the first half and Q's needed an inspired performance by MOM keeper Dan Beaney to keep the score at 1-0 til half time with some fantastic saves. Second half was much more even with Q Hill enjoying some good spells of possession and getting a deserved equaliser on 84mins after Captain Stuart Walton beat the colliery keeper from 25 yds. Q's survived a late scare when a shot was smashed of the bar and the rebound turned in but was ruled offside

In the Alan Smith Trophy Washington Honest boy entertained Framwellgate Moor Wmc, they got off to bad start conceding 2 goals in 1st half. . Framwellgate Moor Wmc taking the lead after 30 minutes when a good move resulted in Ian Fields playing in Jonathon Heslop to score with ease. Fram's pressure told again in the 40th minute when Jonathon Heslop followed up his own shot to fire past the keeper. Half time 0 2. Second half saw honest boy come out a rejuvenated side. A steady stream of pressure resulted in Dean Sinclair scoring with a quality finish turning the defender with his left then slotting the ball in bottom right corner with his right foot. Now with wind in there sails the Honest boy pushed on with a string of chances managing everything, but put the ball in the Framwellgate Moor net. . Framwellgate Moor easily coped with the Honest Boy pressure and were looking dangerous on the break. After shooting wide seconds earlier Michael Jones finished from close range to make it 3-1 to Fram. Honest boy changed to 3 up front in an attempt to get some thing out of the game as Andy Thompson super sub scored off a corner as the ball hit his head on the line. To give Fram a well deserved 3-2 win. The Bird Inn were 4-2 winners at Witton Gilbert Wmc. Kelloe Wmc progressed to the next round with a controlled win over Langley Park Steelers. Kelloe opened the scoring within 2 minutes when Stuart Thompson crossed for Stephen Caruthers to finish. Kelloe then went 2 nil up when Neil Charlton struck from outside the box. An open second half produced a solid performance from the Steelers keeper, Kerry Moralee although there was little he could do to prevent the home side stretching their lead to 3-0 after 65 minutes when Neil Charlton again finished, Steelers did create further opportunities in the second period with the best chance falling to Adam Malekpour ,Kelloe had much of the possession throughout the game and were put under pressure for the last 15 minutes playing with 9 men as two players had to go off injured and Kelloe had already used all three subs. Chilton Wmc Travelled to Ferryhill Dynamo’s. Ferryhill took lead in the 1st min when a shot was parried by the Chilton keeper into the path of a home player who tapped in. In The League Cup sponsored By Spennymoor Town Fc, in an all Ferryhill Tie the Wmc were 3-2 winners Over the Post Boy.Chester Cricket Club recovered well from last week's League Cup exit to inflict defeat on 1st division Washington Arms in the 2nd round of the JD Taxis Guards Cup. The Cricket Club were quickly out of the blocks and certainly didn't look to be a team three divisions below their opponents. The home side's fluid passing game paid dividends early on when eventual man of the match Andrew Robinson put John Sexton in on goal, with only the goalkeeper to beat Sexton finished stylishly to give Chester CC a 1-0 lead. The home side went on to create and squander a number of good chances in the first half, most notably when John Sexton rounded the keeper only for his effort to be blocked on the line. Washington Arms were unlucky not to equalise when a headed effort from a set-piece was cleared off the line by Michael Reds haw. The Arms did find the net midway through the 1st half however, when playing the ball back to Chester CC from a drop ball the ball sailed over keeper Jack Taylor and into the goal. After some deliberation Washington Arms decided they did not want to take the goal and full credit should be given for this extremely sporting gesture. As the game approached half-time, Chester CC deservedly extended their lead as a corner from Andrew Robinson found Michael Reds haw at the back post, who nodded in from less than six yards. The 2nd half started in the worst possible manner for Chester CC, a mishit kick from keeper Jack Taylor found Washington Arms' Craig Smith who finished well with a lobbed effort back over the keeper's head. The 2nd half was fairly even but with Washington Arms pushing for an equaliser The Cricketers found themselves under a lot of pressure for most of the half. The away side were limited to mostly long range efforts however, and balls into the box were dealt with comfortably by the home defence. When Chester CC did mount attacks they were again guilty of missing good chances but were able to hang on to secure a 2-1 victory.Pelaw Grange Dogs FC hosted the game against 2nd division Sedgefield Net Park. Pelaw should have been the first to score after around 15 minutes when David Carter was clear with only the keeper to beat but his chip unfortunately went over the bar. Then a fast breakaway saw Sedgefield score at the other end on 20 minutes and then on around 35 minutes they made it 2 nil after the ball had been partly saved and kicked off the line twice but not cleared. Paul Curry also put over the bar for Pelaw from close range from a cross. However in the 44 minute of the first half a cross by Pelaw Grange Dogs Fc full back Paul Hargreaves saw Sedgefield's centre half head it into his own net. In the second half it was mainly all Pelaw but they lacked the final finish and it ended 1-2 to Sedgefield...

Washington Victoria progressed into the next round of the Guards Cup after a 4-2 home win over Houghton Mill All Stars. Victoria were much the better side throughout the first half and led 3-0 at the break - although their first goal was a disputed effort. A Callum Welsh shot hit the post and then the ball appeared to be cleared off the line but the referee begged to differ and awarded a goal. Mark Liddle and Lee Charlton added to the tally. Mill started the second half much brighter and quickly reduced the deficit to 3-2 with goals from Gary Adey and Steve Fenn (his 200th for the club). But with fifteen minutes remaining poor Mill defending let in Victoria's Ryan Mason to seal a 4-2 win.

In the Presidents Trophy Dubmire Wmc were 5-1 winners at New Brancepeth Wmc ,New Brancepeth started brightly.Dubmire drew 1st blood when a good move resulted in Jordison crossing for Finch to volley home from 10 yards.Dubmire were causing Brancepeth problems with their forwards pace .And went close again through Maddison then Jordison .Dubmire extended their lead after Thompson fed Finch who played in Maddison and he coolly dispatched the ball past the on rushing keeper and into the back of the net .Brancepeth were struggling to breakdown a very resilient Dubmire Defence.Dubmire were looking dangerous every time they went forward and they increased their lead when Thompson played in Jordison and as the keeper came to meet him he guided the ball passed the keeper.Half Time New Brancepeth 0 - 3 Dubmire Wmc FC Brancepeth started 2nd half well and pinned Dubmire back with 4/5 corners in a row but without causing the Dubmire Keeper any problems .Dubmire went close again when Jordison shot straight at the goalkeeper after another impressive move .Brancepeth were giving a lifeline when the Dubmire defender got the wrong side of the forward and was harshly adjudged to have fouled him .Brancepeth converted the penalty 3-1Brancepeth started pushing more and more players forward but were struggling to breakdown a strong Dubmire team. And Dubmire were causing problems every time they went forward and they went close twice through Thompson,Jordison and Finch Dubmire increased their lead when a great passing move ended with the ball finding Donaldson who crossed to Thompson who easily headed the ball into the Brancepeth Net.4-1Dubmire were threatening to run riot now and another cross from Donaldson was somehow Headed over from Maddisonfrom 5 yards. The 5th goal finally came in the 89th min after some neat one touch passing played in Jordison who lashed the ball into the top right hand corner of the net .Full Time New Brancepeth 1 Dubmire WMC Fc 5

The second goal came from a corner ten minutes later, when Brumpton flicked on for recent signing Steve Beamson to head over the line. In the Alan Smith Memorial Trophy Pelaw Grange Dogs Fc from the 3rd division hosted this fixture against Premier league side Newton Aycliffe WMC FC on a very wet Sunday morning. The pitch looked quite good but as the match went on cut up quite a lot.. In the early stages Pelaw had the better chance with Chris Hawkins being clear and should have done better as the Aycliffe keeper came out quickly and cleared the ball with the help of a defender. However Pelaw were giving Aycliffe far too much respect and allow them to attack and attack and it wasn't long before they scored. At half time it was 3 nil to Aycliffe and Pelaw and looked like scoring. After a half time team talk Pelaw looked the better side again as they passed the ball around but it became 4- 0 before Pelaw made a substitution and David Carter came on. This seemed to change Pelaws efforts especially and they got to back 4-1 then it went to 5-1 but then Pelaw seemed to work up with more of the mid field and wing backs getting forward. This resulted in several efforts on goal which should have made it 5-3 but in the closing minutes with Pelaw pressed forward Aycliffe took advantage to make it 7-1. Durham Garden House won 3-1 at Bishop Middleham Cross Keys; Bowburn Cooperage won 9-2 at The Salutation. Washington Colliery went into today's game Home to Ferryhill Post Boy without manager Barry Davison as he was on a family holiday so assistant Dave Huntley took charge. Ferryhill Post Boy was unbeaten this season and unfortunately they remain unbeaten as they won the game 2-0. In a rain soaked game the two teams tried hard to score and both keepers were tested but the games 1st goal didn't come until the 80th minute when the Ferryhill striker rounded keeper Tom Hallam to score and put them up 1-0. Colliery tried hard to get an equaliser but to no avail, Ferryhills 2nd was a brilliant finish, the striker cutting in from the left to smash it into the top corner to grab Ferryhill's and his 2nd goal. Ferryhill went away 2-0 winners a score line which flattered the victors a little.
In the third round of the League Cup sponsored by Spennymoor Town the Washington Arms were knocked out By visitors Bede Lodge Social the Scores level after 120 Mins Bede Lodge winning the Penalty Shoot Out. The Arms open the scoring with a fine chip over the keeper by Chris Morrison after ten minutes but despite dominating the remainder of the game fail to capitalise mainly thanks to a man of the match display from Bede keeper Andrew Neill. Mid way through the second half Nicky Barker equalisers with a header to take the game into extra time. The Arms continue to create chances but keeper Neill keeps them at bay and the game is settled with a penalty shoot. Neill is again the hero and saves two of the spot kicks to see Bede Lodge through 4-2. In A game played played in horrendous conditions on a very heavy pitch Sedgefield Net Park entertained Chester Cricket Club. It was Net Park Who took an early lead through Stephen Turland.
