Houghton Chilton Lodge fc 3 v 1 Washington Ox & Plough fc
HCLFC progressed to the2nd round of the presidents trophy with a 3-1 home win against ox & plough fc. HCLFC took the lead around the 20 min mark when clever thinking by Andrew Bowes on a freekick slid the ball past the wall to young Iain MacPherson who finishes well into the far bottom corner. Andrew Bowes was again the provider near half-time with a great ball to the back post from the left where MOM Jonny Fox smashed the ball home on the volley. 2nd half Ox & Plough came out fighting looking to get back into the game and enjoyed plenty off possession as The Chilton Lodge took their foot off the pedal. The away side pulled a goal back around the hour mark when their man picked up the ball down their right and drifted across the outside of the box and curled the ball home in off the post. With about 15 to go Perri Agnew put Iain Macpherson through one on one with the keeper who saved well initially only for the ball to spoon up in the air where Iain Mac made no mistake nodding home from a tight angle to seal the win. The Chilton Lodge should have scored more however Iain Mac & David Firth both missed gilt edged chances from very close range, 3-1 FT.
Washington New Tavern 2 V 5 Chester Whitehills
Washington New Tavern started out the stronger team and scored from the break after 10 mins. The goal was eventually turned in by the Whitehills defender. Whitehills promptly reacted and pushed the game over the course of the 1st half. a volley from outside the box lobbing the Taverns keeper to make it 1-1 at half time. Whitehills pushed the 2nd half and their dominance paid off as they went 3-1 up on 55 minutes. Washington Tavern pulled 1 back to make it 3-2 and left a glimmer of hope to push for extra time, Whitehills however kept pressing the game and scored 2 goals in the last 10 minutes to end to the game 5-2. Chester Whitehills sail through to the next round.
Witton Gilbert WMC FC 3 vs 6 Pelaw Grange Dogs FC
In the early stages of the game
with Pelaw Grange Dogs Fc playing slighlty downhill they dominated the play
and it wasn't surprising they took the lead after 19 minutes but it took a
great volley from chris Hawkins from around 25 meters out to open the
scoring. Agian after some fine work down the wing by Neil Worley and David
Henderson the ball was put into Witton's penalty box and was headed back to
Chris Hawkins on the edge of the penalty box who hammered the ball low into
the net. As Pelaw pressed forward they left the back door open and Witton
pulled one back but just before half time Marc Wood re installed the 2 goal
lead with a third goal for the Pelaw Grange Dogs FC. The half time team talk must
have had some effect on the players with a bit of a goal rush from Pelaw with
Chris Hawkins getting his hatrick on 50 minutes, David Henderson finally
getting a goal in the match although it did seem to take a deflection on its
way in and then captain David Donnelly also finally getting onto the score
sheet rounding the keeper and then the defender who came back to make it 1-6
on only 53 minutes. Pelaw had substituted Marc Wood in this same period who
had gone down injured with Josh Donnelly and Peter Donnelly then came on for
David Donnelly shortley after he had scored. They then seemed a bit
disorganised and switched off although were still pressing forward they left
the defenders open for 2 breakaways for Witton to pull two goals back to make
it a final score of 3 - 6 to Pelaw Grange Dogs FC. The game overall was
played cleanly by both sides with very few disputes.

Shadforth Plough 0v 1 High Shincliffe Avenue
Another tightly contested cup
tie in the space of 4 weeks between the clubs. Both teams playing some good
football and having chances. High Shincliffe took the lead on 44 minutes
after Mattie Barber pounced on a mistake from the Shadforth keeper to slot
home following a long drive from Avenue keeper Simon Coultas. The second half
started as the first finished with both teams pressing for goals. The game
started getting a bit scrappy and High Shincliffe went down to ten men after
a moment of idiocy from Josh Carr who spoiled what had been a great game for
him with a rash challenge. Shadforth pressed ten-man High Shincliffe for an
equaliser who managed to hang-on. Shadforth also finished the game with ten
man when their skipper got himself removed from the pitch for a double yellow
card for dissent. Overall a good cup tie.

Hetton
lyons Cricket Club 9 - 0 Coxhoe wmc fc
Coxhoe visited Hetton Lyons cc
with a weakened side. It was a goal feast at Murton with the Lyons
dominating the game with some lovely football and clinical finishing but
it was the Lyons Goalkeeper Shaun Newbrooke that was first in to
the action when he pulled off a great diving save in the 11th minute which
looked goal bound and minute later Lewis Teasdale opened the Lyons account with a great strike 1-0.
Three minutes later a thru ball from Kane and Chris Lowther gave the keeper no chance 2-0. Newbrooke pulled
off another good save from the Coxhoe forward in the 36th minute but the
Lyons were creating plenty of chances and 5 minutes before half time Hodgson finish off a fine goal with
good work from Kane and Lowther 3-0.Hetton started the second half like
the first, a cross from Davidson to the near post and Chris Lowther flicked it
between the keeper and the near post 4-0. Chris Lowther got his hat trick in the 52nd minute with a lovely
ball from Kane and Lowther found the back of the net again 5-0. The Lyons
went 6-0 up on the hour mark with a tremendous strike from the right back Pearson and two minutes
later with the return of Chris
Bell a brilliant left foot strike found the top corner of the net 7-0.
Chris Bell made it 8-0 when he
beat the offside trap and chipped the ball over the keeper. Hodgson wrapped the game up in the
83rd minute with an unstoppable strike and to give the Lyons a well
earned result

Sedgefield NETPark 1-5 Washington Victoria
Washington Victoria gained
revenge on Sedgefield NETPark who over the last few seasons have been a bit
of a bogey team for them. Both teams had players missing, Sedgefield didn't
get into any rhythm at all and gave a poor performance.
Washington played the better of the two and created more chances resulting in a pretty comfortable 5-1 victory.
Newton Aycliffe wmc 1 - 0 Brandon Sports
Brandon created all the early threats, and there was half an hour gone when Aycliffe created their first chance.A handfull of chances followed for Ayciffe most being spooned over the bar.Straight from the second half kick off Aycliffe took the lead when Adam Robinson chipped the ball over the visiting keeper. Brandon had to be more adventerous and the game opened out.Aycliffe created some good chances, but good saves by both keepers kept the score at 1-0..
Washington Jfc 4 v 2 Chester le street Chesters
A hot sunny morning hard for boh teams.Paul botcherby scored a penalty for chester after martin o'neill was brought down in the box.JFC took advantage of our defender going over on his ankle and levelled after the break , the injury to the defender reduced chesters to 10 men , however Michael Toon scored from 20 yards out before a JFC striker fell over in the box and it was judged a penalty to everyones suprise and JFC equalised from that , then 2 goals within 10 mins sealed chesters fate and it was JFC who continued through to the next round of the cup.
Burnside
0 v 3 Sacriston WMC
A cagey start saw both sides having periods of possession, the first real chance fell to the visitors and Sam Renwick raced away from the defence to poke the ball past the keeper. On 35 minutes Graham Embleton hit a trademark freekick towards the top corner, the defender managed to get his head on hit only to send it into the opposite corner. Half time 0-2 The second half saw Burnside start the better and create lots of 1/2 chances, only some good goalkeeping and defending kept them from pulling back into the game. Renwick and Mordue continued to cause the Burnside defence trouble with their pace and non stop running. The 3rd game with some clever interplay between Embleton, Mordue and Renwick whichsaw the ball end up with Renwick on the edge of the box. He skipped round the last man then sat the 'keeper down before rolling home to make it 3-0. To the Burside's credit they never stopped trying to get back in the game and could have scored at least 1. Renwick should have had his hatrick but poor finishing prevented this.
