The Leagues involvement in the Durham Football Association

The Leagues involvement in the Durham Football Association ended on Sunday, the previous week saw Sedgefield St Edmunds loose in the semi-final, this week Hetton Lyons Cricket Club entertained Stockton Hardwick Social in the other semi Final. The game started at Murton Cw  with snow falling and the Lyons started brightly but it was a game of very few chances although the Lyons were the stronger of the two sides and had a glorious chance to score in extra time, minutes later Stockton scored with ten minutes of extra time remaining. The Lyons kept pushing for the equalizer and Danny Moore had the ball in the net but the referee gave hand ball against him, Hetton Lyons Cricket Club 0-1 Hardwick Social.

          In the Premier Division Washington Jfc entertained Lang park wmc it was a cracking game between two evenly matched teams, the 1st half ended all square 0-0. Washington Jfc took the lead through Taylor early in the 2nd half who’s shot from the left wing beat everyone sailing into the far corner 1-0, the game was all square when Langley Park wmc scored with a header from a free kick from the right wing 1-1, in the 65min ,Washington scored the goal of the game when Stephenson and Miller played a one two before Stephenson played Macadam in down the right and his first time cross was half volleyed into the net by Hewitt 2-1 jfc, the game ebbed and flowed both ways until Langley Park wmc were awarded a free kick 22yds out with a minute left on the clock, a cracking free kick was touched onto the bar and the rebound was headed in by the Langley Park  wmc left winger, 2-2, jfc kicked off to resume the game and the ref blew for full time, a 2-2 draw. Sedgefield St Edmunds entertained Pelton Roab, Fought game Pelton went ahead on 55mins.Flockett levelled on 65mins but Pelton got the winner 8 mins from time. Brandon Sports travelled to Kelloe Wmc and were convincing 10-0 winners, as the score line suggests, this was a one sided game. The result was dictated by one team having a good turnout from its players and the other didn't. Brandon eventually settled, worked chances and took them, quickly killing the game off. Brandon scorers Graeme Stobbs 3, Michael Fort 3, Tommy English 3, and Phil Shields 1.Chesters were 4-3 winners at Washington Chevy’s.

            In Division One Houghton Mill All Stars scored after only twenty seconds of the kick off, however joy was short lived as Washington Victoria ran out 5-1 winners. Mill’s goal started with a Chris Rogerson boot up field from his own half which was headed down by Stephen Parkin twenty yards from goal into the path of an oncoming Joe Mence who blasted home. Victoria led 3-1 at the break before netting a further two second half goals. Keeper Dan Pearson prevented a heavier defeat for Mill when he saved a penalty kick and made an acrobatic tip over the bar from a long range shot. Sacriston Wmc entertained Chilton Wmc Comfortable win & a clean sheet for Sacriston in cold conditions, should have scored more than the two but Chilton’s keeper was in great form. David Winter with both the goals.Sacriston winning 2-0.Sedgefield Social won 2-1 at Burnside Wmc, Coxhoe were 5-0 winners over visitors Chester Hilda Park. The Cricketers from Sacriston won 2-0 at Sedgefield Net Park. A game played in horrible condition with the rain lashing down. Sacriston took a 2-0 lead at half time due to some sloppy defending by Net park leaving Renwick to finish well on both occasions, Net park hit the bar with a 25yrad free-kick. Second half was more even but Net park didn't capitalise on some opportunities, mainly from set pieces they went 3 up front to try and salvage something from the game but it wasn’t to be, Full Time 0-2.Washington Cross Keys lost 2-0 at Gilesgate Moor Queens Head in a Sloppy passing from cross keys through the game away after having a lot of the possession throughout the whole game. Early penalty for Gilesgate made it 1-0 in the first half and an unstoppable shot from 25 yards in the second made it 2-0. Keys had their chances to draw the game but the goals never came, a deserved hard fought win for Gilesgate .

         In the second Division Washington Lambton Village and visitors Ushaw Moor Cricket Club shared the Points in a 1-1 draw. East Rainton Fc were 3-0 home winners over Sherburn Lambton Arms. New Durham Wmc travelled to Esh Winning to play the Cricket Club, game was settled by Mark Wild with 2 goals second half to give New Durham the points. Chester Plough Inn entertained Shadforth Plough Inn on a cold and wet morning and ran out comfortable 5-0 winners. Man of the match Ben Lloyd grabbed a hat-trick and further goals from Dean Cooper and Andrew Dawson sealed the win.

            In the Third Division Pelaw Grange Dogs entertained Dubmire Wmc, with it raining from start to finish and the temperature dropped the temperature on the pitch was anything but cold. Both teams held their own for the first 20 minutes but Pelaw Grange Dogs fc Might have scored in the first 2 minutes. As it was they had to wait for a fine move with David Henderson well inside his own half passing to David Donnelly before the ball reached Chris Hawkins who put the ball passed the keeper to make it 1 nil. Chris Harvey then got a second and just before half time Chris Hawkins got his second to make it 3 nil to Pelaw Grange Dogs FC. After the interval David Hawkins made it 4 nil with a fine header passed keeper Andrew Elder before Chris Gosnell made it 5 nil with another header after a cross from David Henderson. Pelaw should have now capitalized on their possession but Dubmire held on with their keeper making some fine saves. Bowburn Fc played hosts to visitors Pittington fc’ Bowburn controlled this game from the start but missed lots of chances earlier on before Robbie Hurton scored just before the break. After the break Pittington scored against the run of play to make it 1-1 but Bowburn just kept pressing and were rewarded with 2 more from Robbie and 1 from Jack Carr before a late consolation made it 4-2. Chester Cricket Club beat Lumley 2-0. A poor first half saw few chances created by either side, and finished 0-0. The second half saw the Cricket Club take control of the game, and they took the lead when a ball forward wasn't dealt with by the Lumley defense, allowing Steven Rose to nip in and score. A second goal followed when the ball fell to Ryan Pender on the edge of the box, his shot took a deflection and looped into the net. Final score 2-0 to the Cricketers. The Bird Inn lost 11-2 at New Brancepeth Wmc a very comfortable victory for, New Brancepeth, New Brancepeth dominated throughout, 4 goals from Ricky Box 2 Mark Hughes 2 Craig Hindmarch 1 Gary Wilkinson 1 forJohn Kidd and a very rare strike from Lee Wilkinson from inside his own half which went straight over keepers head, all in all a great victory.and Chester Red Lion were 7-3 winners at Framwellgate Moor Wmc.

           In the Fourth Division Langley Park Rams Head were visitors to Witton Gilbert Wmc, Langley  looking to keep  their unbeaten league record going, 1-0 at half time with goal from Tony Rutter.Langley made sure of game with another 2 goals second half with another from Rutter and one from top scorer Anthony Bussey, Witton scored a consolation late on in game.Ferryhill Dynamo’s  were at Quarrington Hill Wmc ,it was a comfortable win for Ferryhill where the difference in quality was reflected in the score line. Quarrington Hill made a game of it first half but could not stop Ferryhill going into half time 2-0 up. They couldn't match the first half efforts and dynamos ran out deserved 5-0 winners. In the Washington Derby the New Tavern were 4-1 winners at the Jays, In driving rain there was nothing to separate the two teams at half time , 0-0 .Jays scored first through Chris Mustoe , Tavern replied soon after , 1-1 . A defensive mix up resulted in an own goal from Jays . The teams both had chances towards the end though only Tavern converted theirs to win 4-1.Kelloe Davy Lamp lost 4-1 at The Avenue; Burnmoor Jurs were 8-2 home winners over Pity Me in classic game of two half as they say. Pity Me had the better of the first half with them pinning Burnmoor in for large periods of the half. Pity me capitalised on their pressure when Kelvin Scorer volleyed a cross into the back of the net just before half time. Burnmoor came out the blocks in the second half and slotted two goals in quick succession. Pity me pulled level almost immediately with a wonderfully taken free kick from Kelvin Scorer. Pity me then seemed to switch off, they stop closing down and this allowed burnmoor to play the big ball into the box, pity me did not track any runner leaving the pity me defenders to be outnumbered. Burnmoor made the extra men in the box count and racked up the goals and the Honest Boy lost 5-2 at Bishop Middleham.
In the Bishop Auckland Heart Foundation Cup Newton Aycliffe Wmc made into the semi Final with a 5-2 away win at Tindale Crescent Wmc.
