Kelloe and Hetton set up the Tie of the Competition

FA Sunday Cup 3rd round
Ten Men Lyons roar on
Hetton Lyons Cricket Club 4 - 1 Britannia VNC (Liverpool)
Hetton Lyons Cricket Club had to work their socks off for the full 90 minutes for this victory and with Marc Ellison shown a straight red card in the 35th minute everyone had to pull together for a great win. Liverpool Britannia started off the better of the sides and the Lyons goalkeeper Keith Finch made two excellent saves in the early minutes the Lyons responded moments later with a shot just going wide of the post and Andrew Bulford's header just went wide of the post. The Lyons were starting to create more chances and captain Daniel Moore saw his header go inches over the cross bar and in the 33rd minute a cross from the right hand side from Craig Price and a glancing header from Nicky Kane and in to the net with the goalkeeper well beaten 1-0. Minutes later Ellison was shown a red card for was judged by the referee to be a reckless challenge. Bulford came close to scoring just before half time but was denied with a good save from the Britannia keeperThe ten men of the Lyons got the second goal they had been hoping for in the 52nd minute, a corner from price that was headed down by Moore and Danny Craggs was the quickest to react and his shot went in to the net 2-0. Britannia were pushing forward looking for a goal but were getting no joy from the Lyons defence and in the 67th minute a ball from Craig Price to Andrew Bulford on the right hand side and he beat the defender and his shot from an acute angle beat the keeper and on to the post and in to the net 3-0. Britannia grabbed a goal in the 78th minute with a looping header 3-1 but the Lyons scored again minutes later with Ian Watson beating the defender on the left side and he crossed to Bulford and from 18 yards his shot gave the goalkeeper no chance 4-1. A great team effort from the Lyons and thoroughly deserved their victory.

Chilton Wmc entertained Pelaw Grange Dogs for this 3rd Round of the Competition, Pelaw Grange Dogs Fc were struggling with injuries to 3 or 4 key players and only had Paul Swinburn as a substitute. From the off Chilton won a corner and from a low cross in it was flicked into Pelaw net by Michael Searby to make it 1 nil. This seemed to spur Pelaw on and they battled well in midfield with Peter Snowball and Chris Gosnell working hard in midfield along with the rest of the team. Pelaw pulled back level when Anthony Nicholson told Chris Harvey to leave it and sent at curling ball in from the left wing that went in off the post leaving the Chilton keeper struggling. Marc Lyall then had to go off with a hamstring problem and Paul Swinburn came on with Gary Ryan switching to left back which disrupted the midfield in the second half. At half time at 1-1 Pelaw were still in the game but Chilton brought on fresh legs three times in the second half  Michael Searby adding a further 3 goals  and a 25 yard thunderbolt from Kyle Wren gave Chilton a 5-1 win.
Premier Division
In the Premier Division Brandon Sports had Chester’s as their visitors,  Brandon took control early in the game, scoring early and continuing the sequence throughout the half; with Tony Hanson grabbing himself a first half hat-trick and the Fort brothers Dave and Michael  one each. The second half finished stalemate with both teams scoring one a piece, Chester’s direct from a free-kick and Michael Fort adding his second making the final score 6 - 1 to the home team. Langley Park Wmc Traveled to Sedgefield st Edmunds, A hard fought game but St Eds came out as winners following a winning header from sub Ben Smith in the 75th minute. Houghton Comrades were 2-1 winners at Langley Park Steelers James Cook scored 2 goals and took MOM for the Comrades for a fine display. His first was on 18 minutes and his second which gave the visitors all the points came with 30 seconds left to go.Kieron Moralee received the home MOM as he and the rest of the defense including returning goal keeper Kerry Moralee held a strong Comrades side. Jamie Clifford notched his first of the season on his 150th club appearance as he headed in at the back post but this was just not enough to secure a vital point for the home side. Steve Bulmer had a terrific game refereeing.
First Division
The league’s 1st and 2nd placed teams met for the first time this season, Washington Victoria entertained Coxhoe Wmc, and it was the Vic who ran out winners with two late goals. Both teams were missing a couple of players but the game was still evenly balanced for the majority of the 90 minutes. Coxhoe scored the first goal of the game, as the Vic defence appealed for offside, Ord gathered the ball on the left wing and knocked in a fine cross for Strong to finish from close range. Liddle almost levelled soon after with a rasping drive that fizzed just past the far post. The game was being contested mostly in the middle of the park with not many clear cut chances, and it took until 85 minutes for the Vic to get a breakthrough, Douglas beating Orton in the Coxhoe goal to a cross that eventually found its way into the net with the help of a deflection from a defender. Coxhoe almost scored after a poor backpass and a scramble ended, The Vic scored right on Time to give them a 2-1 win. Chester Hilda Park had a well-deserved 4-3 away win at Houghton Mill All Stars. Mill took the lead on twenty minutes when Shaun Corner had the easiest of chances after Chester keeper Scott Laidler mistimed a simple pick up. Mistakes continued when Mill keeper Dan Pearson and defender Chris Rogerson made poor passes to each other allowing Matty Forster to intercept and net the equalizer. Mill were unfortunate not to go 2-1 up when Nick Thompson blasted a first time volley goal wards only for it to be bravely blocked on the line by Shaun Henderson.  Chester led ten minutes into the second half when Danny Burley pounced on a poor headed back pass from Mill's Alistair Dodds to fire pastkeeper Pearson. Mill then wasted a chance to level the game when Joe Mence fired a penalty kick over the cross bar after Shaun Corner had been upended. A minute later Chester went 3-1 up when Jack Williamson headed in a left wing cross. Mill then leveled the game at 3-3 with a great Joe Mence free kick and a well-placed Shaun Corner shot. With ten minutes remaining Stephen Gregory proved to be Chester's match winner heading home a long throw in to secure the three points. Gilesgate Moor Queens Head lost 3-1 at Sedgefield Social, League Leaders Coxhoe wmc were beaten 2-1 at Washington Victoria. Washington Cross Keys traveled to Burnside Wmc and took all three points with a 2-1  win thanks to goals from Ross Docherty and Gary Allen., Sacriston Cricket Club welcomed Sedgefield Net Park , Sacriston With several players missing today’s game this was just what the Cricketers  needed a match against a very under prepared Sedgefield Net Park side. With opposition players arriving late and with nobody on their sideline for the first few 20 minutes or so we didn’t get our own game going but once we scored the first 2 goals either side of the 20 minute mark the match thereafter proved to be pretty plain sailing and it was then just a matter of our many we could score to get our goal difference up.An opportunistic strike from outside the box from Sam Renwick found the bottom left corner of the net to start the scoring. Then Nixon scored after rounding the keeper following a through ball by Gary Draper. The next 20 minutes were quiet with Sedgefield asking a few questions of our new look defense which coped well from crosses and free kicks coming into our box. The goal of the match was scored on 40 minutes when Robert Nixon picked up the ball 25 yards from goal after a pass from Embleton and he belted a right footed volley which arrowed into the top left hand corner of the net to make it 3-0. Then 3 minutes later Embleton received a short corner from Thornton on the edge of the box and he then placed his shot along the ground into the bottom corner to make the score 4-0 at half time. The pattern of the game continued in the 2nd half, some great work by Grant Boyd down the left hand side resulted in Renwick picking the ball up on the edge of the box and he powered a shot into the bottom corner of the near post. Robert Nixon completed his hatrick on 55 minutes with a simple tap in following some great work by Renwick who had burst into the box and squared the ball to Nixon to make it 6-0. Nixon then returned the favor to Renwick on 60 minutes when he played the ball to Renwick who then had a shot from the edge of the box which the goalkeeper let through his body and into the net to make it 3 for Renwick and 7 for the team. Then on 63 minutes we conceded a goal when the Sedgefield player scored a headed goal from 5 yards out straight from a right wing corner. This proved to be the only minor setback of the match. On 68 minutes Sacriston went 9-1 ahead when a cross from the left hand side found Danny O’Brien unmarked at the back post and his volley was well saved by the Sedgefield keeper but Renwick was there again to tap in the rebound from close range.Graeme Embleton completed the scoring with 2 well taken goals both assisted by Renwick to complete his hatrick and make the final score 11-1.
