Both teams made changes as there was some very tired players and it was the Lyons sub Jason Ainsley that put the Lyons 2 goals up in the 90th minute, a free kick from 25 yards and he kept it low and the Boldon goalkeeper couldn't hold on to it and the ball was in the back of the net 0-2. Langley Park Steelers FC progressed through to the third round of the Knockout Trophy with a 5-4 win in extra time. In what was a scintillating match against Pelton FC the one goal in extra time was enough to see the home side as victors. Steelers FC rallied back in the second 45 with four goals out of the seven scored with the first coming from Jamie Clifford to level the match. A near post run from a corner and a glancing shot, this time taking a couple of slight touches on the way in to the net. The game carried on in the same vain, although the home team did start to pile a bit more pressure on after they made a couple of substitutions. This resulted in a penalty being awarded after a harsh challenge by substitute Dave Armstrong. This ended in a red card for the away side’s player, and also a goal for Quarrington Hill. In the Premier Division the Only Game Played saw Sedgefield st Edmunds beat Visitors Sacriston Cricket Club 3-1,The Cricket Club started the game ok and they created a few promising situations in and around the Sedgefield area without getting any worthwhile shots on there goal, the weather conditions and the state of the pitch were not conducive to playing good football and at least the Cricketers were trying to play football the passes were not sticking and Sedgefield played the conditions better with a much more direct style of play.On 35 minutes Sedgefield went 1-0 up following a header from a corner which squirmed underneath Marc Hall in the Sacriston goal with Marc Baden having lost his man .Half time came and went and then on 47 minutes Sedgefield went 2-0 up when Dean Smith miss judged the flight of the ball and allowed his man to get in on goal and his shot was well saved and the danger seemed to have passed with Sacriston getting men back to defend but the same Sedgefield player managed to get hold of the ball and smash a shot in at the near post from a tight angle. On 64 minutes the Cricketers did get one back when Rob Draper headed in Gary Draper's corner at the far post but a minute later Sedgefield went urther ahead when John Robson hesiatated in defence and allowed the Sedgefield forward to take the ball into the box where he found himself one on one with the keeper and he finished superbly into the bottom right corner. In the Fourth Division Games at Durham Garden House and Burnmoor were cancelled due to Waterlogged Pitches, Chester Cricket Club entertained Dubmire Wmc; But the Misfiring Cricketers lost 4-1. Despite taking an early lead through Simon Masters, a disappointing first half performance saw Dubmire go in 2-1 up at half time. There was an improved second half performance from the Cricketers, but as they pushed forward to try and find an equaliser Dubmire struck twice more to round off a deserved victory. Langley Park Rams Head lost 8-5 at Ferryhill Dynamo’s. Washington Colliery took on top of the league New Brancepeth Wmc , only just managing to get 11 players, With many players playing 1st games and out of position the individual and team performances were more important than the result which is just aswell as New Brancepeth won 6-0. From a Colliery point of view the game had 3 major talking points..... 1- Mark Smith's excellent save of a goalbound header....... 2- Craig Neal's last minute MISSED penalty........ 3- Paul Short's 35 yard volley which flew into the back of the net, unfortunately though it was into his own net.

As Sacriston went looking for an equaliser, they became stretched, On a boggy pitch they started to tire, Houghtons 3rd came late on, some nice work down the left wing aloud the winger to cut inside and poke it past the keeper. Sacriston continued to try but even with lots of possession in the Houghton half they lacked a goal threat. Final Score Sacriston wmc fc 1-3 Houghton Mill. Sedgefield Black Lion hadnt played since October, whilst Barley Mow had been visibly improving of late and the first 30 minutes certainly showed this as Barley Mow started by far the better scoring the first after ten minutes. Sedgefield were awarded a penalty after 22 minutes but Dan Newby had his shot well saved and somehow missed the even easier follow up. This was to prove costly in the end as Barley Mow converted a penalty towards half time to go into the break with a two goal advantage, though Sedgefield were beginning to get more into the game. The second half was a different story with Sedgefield on top for long periods, David Brumpton scored two in quick succession and when Stephen Collins scored the goal of the game with 20 minutes remaining and with Sedgefield well on top at that stage it looked as though they were destined for the points, but credit to Barley Mow as after several squandered chances by the home team, they were awarded a clear cut penalty in injury time and equalised in what was to prove that last kick of the match, final score 3-3. Despite this, Dan Irving slotted home to put Chester CC 3-0 up with what was the last action of the half. The second half saw the Cricketers continue to dominate and they found a fourth when Simon Masters slid home from a tight angle, while Darren Redfearn bagged the fifth and final goal. Quarrington Hill wmc entertained Kelloe Davy Lamp a well contested game where both teams and the referee contributed towards a very good game of football. An even first half with both teams having chances but with Quarrington Hill guilty of squandering some very good ones. Some fine saves from the Kelloe keeper kept the score 0-0 at half time. Quarrington Hill continued to press in the second half with the breakthrough coming from a close range effort from Chris Winter. Quarrington Hill could and should have finished the game off but again poor finishing and better goalkeeping meant a nervy period until Chris Kane got the second with a fine finish. The points were sealed after Dan Beaney made it 3. Andrew Ross was superb in the middle of the park and Captain Stuart Walton was MOM Chester Leonards made the short Journey up the M1 to Washington to play the Honest Boy; Leonards looking for their 1st win after the mini winter break against a decent Honest Boy side. After going behind in the 1st minute Honest Boys Martin Fishwick cut in side and John Dean took it off his foot to bobble one in off the post. Leonards battled back, and quickly equalised through goal machine Aaron Wilkinson, running from the half way line before expertly finishing. But again sloppy defending saw them behind at 2-1 quite soon after, A cross by Steve Taylor to Alan Bell who drilled it in from 15 yards.Leaonards were quick to reply Honest Boy Keeper Boundy had to dive to his left to push a shot round for a corner and then save with his legs from 6 yards. Leonards levelled the scores, Aaron Wilkinson adding his second of the Game with a cool dummy and finish leaving the honest boy keeper Boundy in a heap on the floor. Wilkinson then completed his hat trick not long before half time, with the keeper unlucky to see the ball trickle over the line after he had got a good hand to it. . Half time 2-3. The 2nd half was far more one sided and only Leonards posed any threat. Wilkinson added his fourth of the day with a brilliant lob from 30 yards out. And Morrison and Fryer came off the bench to combine with fryer neatly finishing Morrisons cross after a good run down the right. Full time 2-5 and after competing so well in the first half honest boy couldn't have any argument about the result This was the first game for the Framwellgate Moor Salutation since the middle of November, as they entertained Washington Colliery Fc, it did show at the start of the match. Things were very scrappy from both teams, the Salutation struggling to put a foot on the ball and Washington looking for the pace of their front men with a ball over the top. This continued for the majority of the first half until the Salutation began to get a grip of the game. Then on 33 mins after a scramble in the box, Kevin Scorer made it 1-0 to the Salutation at the second attempt after Collierys keeper made a good save. It was 2-0 just before half time after Steve Maddox broke through from midfield and was brought down inside the box. After a bit of a battle as to who was going to take it, Paul Bowen stepped up to take the penalty and sent the Colliery keeper the wrong way. Second half was a bit more controlled from both teams, a lot more passing on the floor. Although in the middle third of the pitch this was proving quite hard because of the conditions. Colliery began pressing to try and get a goal back. But the Salutations defence was holding strong, with Bourne and Smith marshalling everyone really well. On 60 mins after another good attempt by Scorer, John Banes managed to follow up and hit the back of the net. Colliery heads may have gone down at this point, but they were still trying to press forward, most of the attacks coming from their right back. Which is where their goal came from, a nice ball slid across the box and tapped in at the back post. Unfortunately for Colliery, the Salutation killed the game off soon after. Some great inter-passing between Edwards and Harle, before playing Bowers through for a close range strike; Final score 4-1.
