Thompson’s Brace puts Kelloe Through
In the Second Round of the Durham County Football Association Sunday Cup, Kelloe Wmc of the Premier Division of the Swinburn Maddison Sunday League, Travelled to Hartlepool to play Hartlepool WHTDSOB with No snow covering the Pitch Referee declared the Pitch Playable, and it was the visitors who started brightly dominating possession. After 5 minutes forward John cook turn neatly in the box and was brought down but strike partner Gavin Barton struck the subsequent penalty against the post.Kelloe opened the scoring after 10 Mins; Stuart Thompson with a right footed conversion from 18 yards out, following a John Cook pass. After more pressure Hartlepool did well to keep the score to 1 nil at half time. After the break Hartlepool stepped up a gear, Hartlepool levelled the scores; Kelloe went ahead in the 65 Min a great right footed finish from just inside the box by Stuart Thompson, following a goalmouth scramble. Thompson’s second of the game .Then on 75 Mins Kelloe sealed the win, Gavin Barton fired home from close range with a speculative right foot goal, following a cross from Stuart Thompson. Kelloe now have a Home tie in the Third round scheduled for 9th Jan 2011 against South Shields Brigham’s SC or Sunderland Grangetown Florists.
Coxhoe Wmc home game against Humbledon Plains Farm was called off due to a snow covered pitch the same as Houghton Comrades home game against Sunderland Farringdon SC, both games scheduled to take place on Sunday 19th December.
In an all Premier Division of the Swinburne Madison Sunday League Tie Brandon Bay Horse entertained Langley Park Wmc the Home side winning 6-0 and will now play the winners of Greenside FC or Gateshead Belle Vue on Sunday 9th Jan 2011.
In the Football Association Sunday Cup Hetton Lyons CC v Paddock was cancelled due to a Snow Bound Pitch and is now re-scheduled for Sunday 19th December at 1.00pm: at Spennymoor Town Fc.
